KENNEDY
He kissed me. Thayer kissed me.
The word fuck escaped his mouth shocked me. He’d been trying hard to control whatever this lust and
attraction we both felt. Then he finally gave in.
Last night, I didn’t sleep a blink—that was why I drowned myself in caffeine.
I’d kissed a lot of men, but damn, his kiss made me squirm and me wet. That kiss wasn’t gentle, and
that was exactly what I wanted to overwhelm myself. And god, if his scent didn’t turn me on—the smell
of rich and masculine that I could sniff him all day. Even his breathing fanning me right now made my
toe curl. He was driving me insane, driving me mad with lust and unsatisfied hunger.
And I definitely looked forward to his promise.
I stepped out of the car with weak knees, his large hand on the small of my back. Despite the red
minidress I was wearing, a tingle of heat radiated the spot where he touched me.
I knew this was a rush. Everything happened so fast. I was just brokenhearted three days ago. Right
now, I just kissed a man—a hot piece of man. Did I have regrets? Fuck no. I barely remembered my ex
if he didn’t call me that I had to take my things because he’d be leaving the apartment soon. Who the
hell would do that, rushing his ex?
As we entered the elevator, the two big, bad wolves followed. They were always in full eyes sharp as
hawks.
“Nice,” Lud commented.
“Shut up,” Ash stated.
I bit my bottom lip.
Did he see us kissing? Of course, he did.
Heat rose in my cheeks.
Thayer might have noticed the rigidness of my spine. He ran his fingertips through the skin of my wrist.
My toes curl.
My lips dried.
He then slipped his fingers into my hand, interlacing with mine. My inside tightened. Just at the thought
of his words earlier made my pulse pick up farther.
I bit my lip stronger.
“Are you okay?” He glanced down at me.
I realized my face was burning. “Yeah.”
He matched my stare, dropping his gaze down my lips before a small smile curved up his lips.
“Is your asshole ex home?” Ash asked, breaking me from my filthy thoughts.
“I didn’t see his car down.”
“Break the damn door if you must.”
My eyes grew big as I snapped my head back at Thayer. “That won’t be necessary. I still have my key.
Um, my things might not fit in the car, though.”
“No worries, love. I got it handled,” Lud replied.
“What do you mean?”
“That’s exactly what I mean.”
“You’re talking in cryptic.”
“He’s handling the movers,” Ash replied.
I picked up my keys from my purse as we reached the apartment door. Before I could slip the key, I
heard a laugh from inside the apartment. It was from my ex, and there was another voice—a voice of a
woman.
My chest constricted.
My anger boiled in my blood.
My breathing quickened.
“Fucking motherfucker!” I was startled by the growl coming from Lud.
While my face burned with anger, my hands turned cold. What I wasn’t expecting was Thayer
squeezing my hand and planting it on his lips. His gesture was sweet and comforting like he was telling
me that everything was going to be okay.
I hoped he was right, though. Deep in my heart, I wasn’t angry that he already had a woman replacing
me. What hurt me most was I let him fool me. I allowed him to cheat on me. I knew that now—the
reason why he made excuses every time I initiated sex.
Damn him.
Lud took the key from my shaking hand. “Let me do it, love.”
The door swung opened. The shock was an understatement. Colors drained from Raoul’s face. His
dark eyes widened in shock, and so as the woman sitting on the kitchen island—his officemate. Lydia.
“Looks like you’ve seen a ghost, mate?” It was Lud who entered first.
I swallowed at his comment. I could sense that this was not going to end well.
If Lud loved to make an entrance, Ash had not said a word but scan the area in silence, but I could feel
the tension in his muscles, his jaw clenching.
“Who the fuck are you?” Finally, Raoul said something.
“Oh, the mover service. And you must be?”
“Raoul—”
“It doesn’t matter.” Lud swatted his hand and moved to the center of the living room. “Where should I
start?” He picked up a book on the coffee table. I knew exactly what he was doing—to piss my ex off.
And he was taking it to the next level.
“Hey, you? Are you also from the movers?” What a jerk. I realized now what a waste of my one year
with him. I couldn’t even find anything how I liked in him.
He hadn’t seen me yet, though. The woman had not moved a muscle, but she seemed comfortable on
that freaking counter.
“No.” Ash’s answer was short but firm. He didn’t even look at my ex.
“Then get the fucking out!” Raoul roared.
It felt like in a freaking Japanese anime movie as Ash turned his head slowly at my ex, his face
darkening, eyes narrowing. His lips pressed into a flat line.
“Did you hear me?” He then turned to Lud, who was already making himself comfortable on the worn-
out couch. “And you, I thought you’re from movers. Did my ex hire you? She isn’t supposed to be here
right now. She doesn’t have many things around anyway.”
I let go a shuddering sigh. Thayer held my hand tightly, silently telling me to stay put. When I looked up,
his face was red in anger, nose flaring, and jaw clenching as if he was ready to charge towards my ex.
I relaxed beside him.
“I’ll call the security.” He rushed to the counter with the woman who seemed to have turned to stone as
she finally saw me. Her face was ashen as she recognized me.
“Put your phone down, Mr. Foster,” Ash ordered.
“You’re trespassing. I’m calling Kennedy. You can't be the one she hired. You’re not even wearing a
uniform.”
“We’re special kinds of movers. We also moved people—to disappear in the face of fucking earth.” Lud
chuckled.
“She’s here,” Lydia told Raoul silently.
When he saw me, he swallowed hard. “K-ken.”
“My movers,” I introduced my two new favorite big bad wolves. “Lud and Ash.”
“Like Jekyll and Hyde,” Lud added.
Thayer let go of my hand with a groan.
“I’m so sorry, Ken—”
“Which one you’re sorry for, Raoul?” I moved closer to the living room. “For kicking me out? Breaking
up with me? For cheating on me? For lying to me this entire time? Or for bringing your officemate
before I even take my things out?” I glared at him. I was grappling with anger.
He swallowed again. “I’ve been—”
“Meaning to tell me? Fuck you! You asked me to move in with you. And when I asked you what’s going
on? You told me it’s work. You’re working under pressure with the workload. Then it’s not even a week,
and you’re already fucking her in the kitchen while you couldn’t even do that to me because you
wanted to keep it in the bedroom!”
“Lower your voice down, Ken. We have an audience.”
“Oh, do we have now? You don’t even feel guilty about cheating on me. I get it now who pressured you.
It’s her.” I pointed at the woman, now standing beside him. “You could have just been honest with me if
I couldn’t make you happy, or someone was already scratching your itch.”
“Ken, please? Show some respect!” When his voice raises. His face reddened. Lud and Ash were
ready to launch and tackle Raoul if he said another word.
“You should also show some respect to me, asshole. I’m still paying half this rent. How do you feel if
fuck someone in that very same bed?” I stopped and chuckled. Then it hit me hard. I shook my head in
disbelief. “You fucked her in that bed, weren’t you?”
He dropped his gaze. Guilt plastered all over his face.
I threw my hands in the air and laughed like a lunatic. My voice echoed throughout the apartment. I
swore, maybe someone could even hear it from across the road. “Wow! You’re such a jerk.” I chuckled.
“Screw you both.”
“Well, isn’t it awkward?” Lud chuckled, crossing his feet over the coffee table.
“Hey, put your feet down!”
“My client doesn’t seem to care.” Lud shrugged.
“What kind of movers you hired, Ken?”
“None of your business.”
“They’ll be here in a minute,” Ash informed me.
“And who’s that other man?” Raoul asked again.
When I turned my head to Thayer, he was in the same position. This time, he stood tall with pure
masculine that screamed wealth and power. His hands were in his pockets as he remained silent. He
clenched his steely jaw while narrowing his eyes at my ex. Though he hadn’t spoken a word, judging by
his pinstriped well tailored made suit that hugged perfectly over his broad shoulders, and his designer
checkered tie, crisply starched shirt, surely, Raoul had already a few ideas about who that man was.
“Again, none of your fucking business.”
