Revenge 158
Revenge 158
The man on the bed suddenly opened his eyes, and they were filled with anger. Before Mayra could react, she felt the room spinning as she was suddenly grabbed by the neck. In that instant, she felt suffocated.
“Andy, it’s me!”
Hearing her voice, Anderson loosened his grip. “Mayra, when did you learn to sneak into my room? Did I scare you?”
Mayra coughed a few times and got up from the bed. Shaking her head, she asked, “Are you feeling better, Andy?”
Anderson reached out to turn on the lights. Only then did Mayra see the mess on the floor, including a shattered desk lamp. She wondered what had transpired here.
“I… I’ll go open the curtains.”
Mayra pulled open the curtains, letting the golden rays of the sunset stream into the room. She turned to see the light falling on Anderson’s slightly pale and haggard face.
“Andy, do you still have a headache? Should we go to the hospital?”
Anderson closed his eyes and leaned against the headboard, massaging his temples. “No need. Mayra, are you hungry?”
After living together for over ten years, Anderson knew Mayra like the back of his hand.
Mayra stepped over the broken fragments of the lamp, suddenly remembering that when Serena came out of his room, there was a strange look on her face.
At such a young age, Serena dared to make such a move. Mayra realized she might have misunderstood things. She thought that… Anderson was a greedy man.
“Andy, you haven’t taken your medicine? Let me get you some water.”
“Mhm.”
Mayra went to the kitchen to get some water. She then brought a cup of warm water to Anderson’s room. She placed it on the bedside table, opened the medicine pack, and handed him the pills one by one.
He continued to close his eyes, seemingly in great discomfort. He looked feeble, as if he hadn’t slept enough. Mayra had never seen Anderson look so weary.
She had to feed him the pills, and her fingertips inadvertently brushed against Anderson’s sexy lips. His tousled hair fell over his forehead, and his gaze was softer than usual when he opened his eyes.
With Anderson’s gaze fixed on Mayra, she didn’t understand how he still looked like a university student despite being almost 30 years old.
“I read about an acupressure technique for headache relief in a book earlier. I don’t know if it’ll help. Andy, do you want to lie down and let me try it on you?”
“Mayra, are you worried about me?”
Why did this question make Mayra’s heart race?
“Let’s try it. Maybe it’ll work.”
Anderson lay his head on her lap. Following the book’s instructions, she massaged him for 15 minutes with just the right amount of pressure.
“Do you feel better, Andy?”
His eyes were closed, and he didn’t answer her. He was seemingly asleep.
Mayra gently moved her legs, which had gone numb, and heard his even breathing. It seemed that he had really fallen asleep. When her hands stopped moving, Anderson showed signs of waking up. So, Mayra continued massaging him.
What exactly happened when Anderson got into that accident back then? Why were his headaches so severe now?
After massaging him for almost half an hour, Mayra had lost sensation in her fingers. They had grown numb. Eventually, there was a knock on the door.
Anderson said, “Come in.”
He was awake, and Mayra could finally stop massaging him. Shane pushed the door open and entered. Shane seemed unfazed by this scene, but Mayra felt a bit awkward.
“Mr. Barlow, dinner is ready.”
“Mhm.”
Shane left after the announcement. Mayra said in surprise, “Andy, it turns out that dinner was prepared long ago.”
Anderson didn’t say much. He took her hands and rubbed them in his palm. “Are your hands sore?”
His hands were large enough to easily envelop her slender ones.
Mayra quickly pulled her hands away and stood up. “I’m fine, Andy. Let’s go eat.”
She added with a hint of panic in her voice before turning to leave, “Change your clothes first.” Mayra waited outside for a while.
