Revenge After rebirth (Mayra and Anderson)

Chapter 39

Anderson was shrewd. If Mayra got him upset, she might not even have the chance to call for help.

She softened her tone and apologized obediently. "I'm sorry, Andy. I know I was wrong. It's my fault. I won't do it next time. It's true that I went to Gordon first and pestered him to tutor me."

In front of Anderson, changing the situation was simple for her. "I- I want to go home..." She lowered her head and spoke carefully.

His expression softened a bit. "I've been waiting for you for so long. But you didn't return until late and were even out with an outsider. I did this for your good. Come here. Eat with me."

"Andy, it's very late now—"

"So you can stay late with Gordon but not with me?" Anderson sounded jealous. She forgot it was because that was how he was. He had too much control over everything.

He placed one hand in his pocket, returned to the dining table, and sat down. Soon, a waiter came with new dishes.

But this time, it wasn't the unpalatable steak. It was Mayra's favorite food. The waiter pushed out a new castle-shaped cake and slowly approached them.

Anderson served her a bowl of soup. "Why are you in a daze? Eat first to fill your stomach. You have plenty of time to eat cake."

Mayra sat across the long table, but he said, "Sit next to me. How can I pick food for you like this?"

She followed his order like a puppet. In her previous life, she was also obedient and did whatever he asked. But she had changed her mind. She no longer liked her current situation. She wanted to be free of Anderson's control and orders.

Mayra's stomach troubles improved a lot after she drank the warming soup. She didn't want to eat anymore. Instead, she wanted to have a good night's sleep. She had no appetite after what she had just eaten.

Anderson was aware that her loss of appetite was due to an unfavorable stomach reaction. But he had plenty of time to eat slowly with her.

They skipped lighting the candles and making wishes. Her impression of him began to shift again when he wasted time with her here.

In her impression, Anderson rarely had the patience to accompany her on trivial things.

After finishing her meal, Mayra grudgingly took a few bites of cake. "Andy, I'm full. It's already 3:00 a.m. Can I go to bed now?"

"Are you sleepy?" She closed her eyes and nodded, looking listless.

Anderson had just finished his meal and wiped his mouth with his handkerchief. "Stay here tonight. I'll take you back tomorrow."

The waiter came forward. "Mr. Barlow, Ms. Sadler, your room is ready. Please follow me."

They then took the elevator downstairs. The waiter then opened the door and handed Anderson the room key. Mayra had a bad premonition when she saw him walking in with her.
