Xavier got a bit irritated. Tm still in a meeting.. Before he could finish, Yasmine interrupted him, her tone icy. "Still in a meeting, huh? Mr. Flynn, no one is going to wait around forever for you. Since we've decided to get divorced, let's not drag this out any longer. It looks ridiculous to be planning a wedding while you're stalling on the divorce. Yasmine was exhausted by Yvette's petty games and the pointless connection with Xavier. She had always been decisive; she took risks for love and didn't feel bad about it, but when it was time to move on, she refused to cling to the past. She knew Xavier didn't care about her or want to stay married. To him, she was nothing, and all his decisions about her came last.
Xavier frowned, pressing his lids together tightly. He remembered the guy who dropped her off the other day, and anger bubbled beneath the surface as he scoffed, "Yasmine, you act like you're innocent, but it's because you have someone else now that you can walk away so easily."
Yasmine shook her head, thinking Xavier was genuinely delusional Believe what you want. But honestly, this isn't your concern. I mean, no one else can move on as fast as you do when it comes to finding someone new. I'll be at the courthouse. If you take too long, even if you beg, I won't go through with it.
She then hung up decisively without giving him a chance to respond
Soon, Lucy pulled up and asked, "Yasmine, where to?"
Yasmine smiled, feeling lighter. "To the courthouse."
Lucy cheered with excitement.
Twenty minutes later, Yasmine stood at the courthouse entrance, feeling restless when she got a message from Yonas on WhatsApp: [Ask Chuck about the house.] And then a notification popped up with Chuck's details.
After Yasmine added him, Chuck eagerly messaged: [Hey Yasmine. I've got a place just above Yoselin's and that's about the same size. It's 2.000 dollars a month, what do you think?]
2,000 dollars... Yoselin's place is at least 2,000 square feet. Rent for that in this city for 1,000 dollars? Chuck must be a little clueless, Yasmine thought.
She hesitated, ready to ask if Chuck understood the market when Xavier suddenly appeared and gave her a quick once-over. "Let's go."
Yasmine put her phone away and followed him inside. It wasn't until she had the divorce certificate in hand that she felt a real sense of relief. At that moment, she truly felt done with Xavier, the man she had loved for seven long years.
As they left the courthouse, Xavier called out to Yasmine, staring at her intensely before finally saying, "I'll get everything I promised you sorted out in the next few days.
Yasmine nodded, feeling indifferent..
Xavier thought about Chuck again and added softly, "Yasmine, don't rush into something with another man just because you're upset. Take care of yourself"
"Xavier, by not showing up for Yasmine, you're actually doing her a favor, Lucy interjected. "You let your future mother-in-law and your mom push Yasmine away until she was sick, and now you want to act all sweet and caring? Seriously, what's wrong with you?" Lucy was fed up with Xavier the jerk. "You take Yasmine's kindness for granted, huh? That house is about to be hers, and she
could be living there already! Now she has to scramble to find another place..."
