Chapter 85
“It’s Naomi.”
Everyone’s gaze landed on Scott the moment he said this.
Chandler was momentarily stunned by this, but he soon frowned and asked, “What happened? Is it serious?”
Scott turned to him. “She got burnt when trying to save someone from a fire, but her wound is already scabbing over.”
The moment he said this, a unanimous thought passed through everyone’s mind–Scott and Naomi did not get a divorce after all. Otherwise, why would Scott be so familiar with Naomi’s current condition?
As for why Naomi returned to her hometown despite that, no one knew the answer, deduce from Scott’s reply that their marriage was perfectly sound.
but they could
Naomi was about to respond, but Scott interjected so quickly she could not even get her words out. She furrowed her brows when she heard this. How did he even know about the condition of her hand?
“Ah, I see. What a brave woman you are, Naomi.”
Everyone nodded and began praising Naomi’s courage. “Naomi is one of the kindest young women we’ve ever met. She’s never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Everyone at the museum loves her.”
“That’s right. Naomi’s a quiet girl, but she’s quick with her work and always looking out for others. She can accomplish any task that you hand her.”
“There was one time a customer of ours tried to create a scene in our museum, but Naomi took care of the situation single–handedly.”
“She’s quiet, but you shouldn’t underestimate her. She’s got a great eye for details and is never wrong.
Naomi was a little stunned by this. She never once thought she was that well–liked by everyone. On the contrary, she always thought she was very flawed; for instance, she was very passive, rather meticulous, and stubborn as a mule, but it would appear that her flaws became her greatest strengths
in everyone else’s eyes.
Scott picked up the teapot and poured her a cup of tea.
Naomi, who was still in her stunned stupor, snapped back to reality when she caught sight of Scott’s slender fingers reaching over to pick up the teapot. Then, she watched as he tipped the teapot and poured her a cup of boiling tea.
The warm steam wafted up to her face, interspersed with the fragrant aroma of tea. Naomi could not help feeling even more disoriented by this. For some reason, the entire night felt like a dream.
Scott never once did anything like this for her.
The food soon arrived, and everyone dug in. Naomi nibbled on her food slowly, and as she did piece of steak appeared in her peripheral vision and landed on her plate.
Naomi paused, then turned to glance at Scott.
so, a
At this moment, he was holding a cup of tea up to his lips, his finger tapping lightly against the cup. He was staring straight at the man who was speaking, his gaze dark and focused, as though he did not, just a few seconds ago, placed a piece of steak onto Naomi’s plate.
Naomi opened her mouth to say something but eventually clamped it shut and returned to her food. She picked up the steak and took a bite.
The steak was soft and tender and was marinated in a special sauce that brought out the exquisite texture. However, Naomi was not a fan of beef; she did not like eating food that required a lot of chewing.
She nibbled on her food for a long time, refusing to swallow until she broke it down into small pieces. She did not want to suffer any indigestion from eating her food too quickly.
Scott would appear at first glance to be staring intently at the person speaking, but he was secretly watching Naomi out of the corner of his eye.
She was a very slow and quiet eater. One would not notice she was eating if not for the fact that her lips were moving. She looked like a little bird nibbling on a nut.
Scott sneaked glimpses at her out of the corner of his eye, but the moment she bit down on the steak, he could not help watching her.
She nibbled from one side of the steak to the other as though trying to make her way through the whole piece. Eventually, it began to appear as though she was struggling to swallow the steak.
