Chapter 8
Scott’s finger twitched. His heart fluttered as well without any warning.
He curled his fingers a little and entered the mansion.
Soon, he noticed the luggage by the door. It was just medium–sized black luggage, as if she was just going for a business trip for a day or two and she would return when she was done.
“I’m sure you’ve seen the divorce papers. I got Amelia to print it out for us. It’s the same as the one I sent to your email. You can have a look. If everything is in order, sign on it. Then, we’ll head to the county clerk’s office together.”
Naomi handed Scott the divorce papers that she prepared.
Scott looked at the papers. He accepted them and flipped through.
Naomi looked at him going through the papers. It was just as emotionless as if he was reading any other generic document.
Even though this was not the ending that she wanted, she never once regretted marrying him. Neither did she regret having feelings for him. She had no regrets at all for the past three years.
“I’ve already signed the papers. If you think everything is in order, sign them too,” Naomi said when Scott was reading the last page. She handed him a pen.
She prepared the pen beforehand too, just like his assistant. She prepared everything so he did not need to worry.

Scott looked at the pen before looking at Naomi. From the moment he got out of the car, smiling calmly. A light gentle smile. Just like what she said. Ending their marriage was better for
everyone.
Scott looked at her eyes, which shimmered like a quietly rippled lake.
He accepted the pen and signed his name. Scott Lawson.
Naomi smiled.
Everything went smoothly. She took her luggage with her to avoid an extra trip.
They went to the county clerk’s office together to get the divorce officialized.
Soon, just like what Amelia said, the staff handed them their divorce certificates. Right before lunch.
The car was parked right outside the county clerk’s office. The driver got out of the car and opened
the door.
“Where are you heading to, I’ll give you a ride.” Before getting in the car, Scott stopped in his tracks and looked at Naomi carrying her luggage.
He seemed to be asking out of courtesy, not because he meant it.

Naomi shook her head and smiled. “That’s alright. You’re busy.” She knew that he was busy.
“Hmm. Call me if you need anything.” He got in the car without looking back, just like every single time he went on a business trip. He left, but he would still return.
Soon, the car drove off into the traffic.
Scott sat in the car and looked at Naomi from the rearview mirror. She was quietly standing there. The sun cast a warm glow on her.
His phone vibrated.
He retracted his gaze and picked up his phone. “Lawson speaking.”
“Mr. Lawson, there’s a problem with the project in Newerk. We might need you to go there to have a look.”
“Book the flights.”
“Okay.”
Naomi stood there and looked at the car driving off, vanishing within her sight. She looked up at the skies. It was a sunny day with blue skies and white fluffy clouds. The scent of flowers blooming was in
the air.
She reached her hand out and spread her fingers open. She squinted her eyes to see the sunlight seeping through her fingers. She smiled.
Spring was all around her.
‘Scott, I wish you all the happiness in the world. I wish that for me too.‘
