Please Come Back, Honey! Chapter 153
Hour and the bar Trevor frequently visited, Rosette, were both Zachary’s, and it was a typical spot where the guys would talk business or meet important clients. Every staff from these two spots wasn’t what they seemed on the outside—they all packed a punch. As soon as something was wrong, they would immediately protect the guys. And now, after Arianna’s episode, Trevor was very conscious of Emma’s safety. Meanwhile, Emma sensed something from his grave tone, and she looked at him with incredulity. “No, don’t tell me all of them can fight!” Otherwise, why would he say, ‘the staff will protect you if anything goes wrong’? “What do you think?” Trevor replied plainly, leading Emma to gasp and look warily at him. “Trevor Bateson, just what sort of shady business are you in?” He and the guys specifically established such a cafe and even hired so many fighters as staff. This feels like something underworld bosses from the movies would do. Trevor chuckled to himself, annoyed by her stance. “If I really am in some sort of shady business, will I be recognized as Jonestown’s top ten outstanding youth?” After hearing so, Emma relaxed. Trevor and the guys were recognized as Jonestown’s top ten outstanding youth every year, and the award was approved by the government. They surely wouldn’t mess with something this significant. “There’s a dangerous side to every industry,” Trevor explained. “What we’re trying is to ensure our personal safety.” Not everybody could accept failure, and some would take drastic measures if they couldn’t get what they wanted; anything could happen. Addedly, the higher the sum of money, the more desperate people would get. They were just protecting themselves. Saving something for a rainy day was their number one lesson. “Oh.” Emma nodded, then remembered something. “Then, Annie, the one whom I learned to make coffee from, can also fight?”
Annie was a barista from Hour, and she was the barista who taught Emma how to make coffee. “Yes.” Trevor nodded in affirmation. “Black belt in Taekwondo and MMA champion.” Emma was gobsmacked. She honestly couldn’t picture a gorgeous young woman like Annie, who worked as a barista, to actually pack a punch. She honestly never saw any signs of it from Annie. Then, he added, “You can continue learning from her when you’re free. Maybe try some self-defense this time.” She thought it was a good suggestion, but just as she was about to nod in agreement, Trevor sized her up and commented, “You know what? With your frame, I should just get you a bodyguard instead.” “What about my frame?” Emma didn’t like how he had described things. Yes, she was skinny, but it wouldn’t mean she couldn’t master a few self-defense moves! “Nothing about it. You’re thick where you’re supposed to be,” said Trevor in a husky voice after a good look into her eyes, rendering Emma at a loss for words. Google, what should I do if my ex-husband suddenly behaves like a pervert after divorce? He, on the other hand, looked totally unfazed on the outside, focusing his attention back on his lunch. No, stop staring into her eyes. F*ck, I really want to eat her up! Trevor hadn’t seen it coming. He had successfully teased Emma indeed, but who’d have thought he teased himself to a hard-on as well?! While eating, their skin-to-skin moments kept flashing across his mind. He was so unbearable that he immediately left after finishing his meal because he was worried he would actually do something to Emma that he would regret later. Emma, on the other hand, could finally relax after Trevor was gone. Kitty was relatively familiar with its surroundings at this point, and it would rub itself against Emma every now and then. Minnie, however, was still shy, hiding away under the couch. It wouldn’t come out, no matter how Emma coaxed it. A frustrated Emma left the animal as it was now and allowed it to get used to its surroundings at its own pace. Just like humans, animals had different personalities as well, and Minnie was clearly super introverted. That was pretty much like Emma.
Later, Emma gave Wilson a call. She first asked how his missus was doing before thanking him. Though they still didn’t know how Crystal’s apology would end, Emma could still feel Wilson’s well-intentions. Wilson sounded amiable on the other end of the line as well. “I’m a creator too, so I completely understand the indignation of having your work stolen. That’s why I took the liberty of doing this for you. I didn’t go straight ahead and denounce her to the industry because I could see it at a glance. Given that woman’s character, her company would fail sooner or later,” Wilson explained. “So what if her father has the money? No matter what business you’re in, depending solely on money won’t get you far.” “Yeah.” Emma very much agreed with Wilson. Hence, he first made Crystal apologize and helped Emma to get even. As for Crystal and her company, reality would give her a real hard slap in the face. After the two were done talking business, he suddenly asked, “Emma, how old are you?” “26,” Emma still answered honestly despite her bewilderment toward Wilson’s sudden question. “When is your birthday then?” Wilson pressed on after a pause. “Tenth of January,” she answered. Again, he fell into silence and she couldn’t help asking, “Mr. Young, why are you suddenly asking this?” “Nothing, I just thought we clicked well,” Wilson replied with a smile, making Emma in seventh heaven. “Thanks.” She, too, had a great impression of Wilson. She couldn’t explain why, but she felt an inexplicable sense of affinity with the elderly man. Though Wilson was already Emma’s idol before she met him in person, her impression of the man elevated after she first saw him. Emma thought her version of a perfect man was probably someone like Wilson. Clean-looking, imposing, suave, gifted, and most importantly, loyal to his love. He had been deeply in love with his wife for decades. Wilson didn’t say much after asking her these questions and the two ended the call. The following day, Emma came to Hour as planned. The cafe was located on the top floor of the building Zachary’s company was based in. The entire floor was dedicated to the cafe. Thus, they could replace all
the exterior walls with floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing people to overlook the cityscape from anywhere they sat. No wonder Zachary would position the cafe’s selling point as a place of elegance and class. Right as Emma entered the cafe, she found Crystal in a window seat not far away, waving at her. Emma couldn’t be bothered with her. They had agreed to meet at 10.00AM, but Crystal had called her at 9.30AM, saying she was already in the cafe and the charges had begun timing, so Emma ought to watch her spending. “Darling!” Following a chirpy voice, a gorgeous, adorable young woman jogged out from behind the bar, gave Emma a bear hug, and even spun her around. Annie’s strength… Emma was now convinced this young woman had a black belt in Taekwondo. Meanwhile, Crystal turned grim upon seeing how chummy Emma and Hour’s head barista were.
