"Forget it. I value my life a lot," Linda said with a wry smile.
Lina pulled out her phone and played a recording.
The recording was a conversation between Kenny and Arden. It was a piece of evidence Kenny had reluctantly handed over to the police.
"I didn't expect him to be so capable, catching even the secrets of high society," Lina said.
"Arden is indeed impressive. If his face hadn't been ruined back then, he might have become outstanding by now," Linda acknowledged.
She agreed Arden had the potential to be exceptional, but he had channeled all his energy into dubious endeavors.
"But it's a real shame. If his beautiful face had remained intact, he might have had a big chance in the entertainment industry," Lina added.
As a manager, she set really high standards for talent.
Arden had a lot going for him, and if his face weren't ruined, thriving in the entertainment industry would have been a breeze. Unfortunately, everything was destroyed.
"Didn't he get his face ruined while saving a little girl?"
Linda hesitated but decided to reveal the truth, answering, "Yes."
She sighed. Her tone was filled with regret.
"He tried, but the girl still ended up being killed by the two drug traffickers who had escaped.

There was news from the police this morning,
William had specifically instructed the police to look into the girl's case. After checking with the national police system, they found out that the girl had died in a major car accident seven years ago, which was orchestrated by the very drug traffickers Arden had been trying to save her from.
She had been on the brink of a bright future, but her life was cut short by those criminals.
"Did the girl have any relatives?" Linda asked.
Lina shook her head.
In a way, it might have been a blessing that the girl had no surviving family. If she had, the drug traffickers might have had more victims to prey upon.
"It's just not fair. A person who does something good ends up with such a tragic ending, while those who commit heinous acts live on, enjoying all the world's pleasures."
Lina didn't know how to respond.
Perhaps that was just how the world worked. Where the wicked thrived and the virtuous suffered.
How noble were those narcotics officers? But how much had these heroes gone through behind the scenes? And their children and families had endured so much as well.
"Maybe we should look into ways to donate to the families of narcotic officers or improve their living conditions," Linda suggested, feeling that was all she could do.
Lina shook her head.
"It's not that simple. The families of these narcotics officers are well-protected.
"I understand you might be feeling bad for that girl, but some things are just beyond our control," she said, her attempts at consolation falling flat, but Linda understood.
"I know. I'm almost recovered. Could you ask Ava to make me some oatmeal? I'll come downstairs to eat later."
Linda had her oatmeal in the living room while Lexi sat at a distance, watching Linda with curious eyes.
