Chapter117 Still Love Her
Still Love Her
Richard's tone were firm, without any doubt.
Pearl left Kityall City in August, before which Ethan had been abroad for half a year. He hadn't returned
home during this period.
He had no idea how they met, but he was sure that Pearl's two children weren't Ethan's.
"Nothing to do with me?" Ethan frowned, "Mr. Zellweger, you're so sure of what you're
saying. Legally, I'm still their father. What do you mean by 'nothing to do with me'?"
Richard frowned as well.
How could Ethan admit it so easily?
"However, does it even matter whether they're my biological children? You even painstakingly sent
people to investigate such a small matter. It was completely out of my expectation."
Richard was stunned by how Ethan's calmness.
"If I'm not wrong, you came here due to the accident in the ER last night, didn't you?"
Richard neither confirmed nor denied it.
Ethan was quick-witted. Richard wouldn't have come here for no reason.
"Since you've known it, why beat around the bush?"
"You're quite infatuated, Zellweger. You rushed over here to see Pearl after seeing the news."
Ethan looked at Richard calmly, as if he was talking about something that had nothing to do with him.
He picked up the fork and twirled it as if he was chatting with an old friend nonchalantly.
Richard frowned deeper at his actions.
He didn't like Ethan. Such a man was self-centred and had no self-control. It was hard to figure out
what he wanted.
Ted also found out that Ethan dated countless women during that period.
How could Pearl live was with such a man for seven years?
Richard asked, "You don't seem to care about what my feelings or opinions towards her."
How could a normal man calmly chat with another man who cared about his own wife?
"Why should I care about that?"
"Yeah, but it seems that you don't care about what she thinks. Didn't you drink in the bar overnight a
few days ago?"
"Did you send someone to follow me?" Ethan's face tensed up a little upon these words.
Ethan had been well-protected by bodyguards when he was abroad, let alone in his own
country. Richard must have gone through a lot of hassle to go through with this.
"I'm just curious as to how much you love your wife." Richard's voice was quite cold.
Richard was once with Pearl for five years. No one knew how Pearl looked like when she was in love
better than him. He didn't think Pearl love Ethan.
Their conversation seemed to be at wit's end.
They finally came to the key point of the problem.
Ethan was still as calm as before, but inside his heart, he admired the man standing before him for a
bit.
Richard could even tell that there was something unusual with his marriage with Pearl.
However, no evidence supported his claim that they were in a fake marriage.
No one continued the topic.
Ethan stopped beating around the bush with Richard and said, "No matter what, our marriage is real
legally. Mr. Zellweger, you've investigated so much just to send a message to me."
"You still love her." Richard said.
There was a vein throbbing on Richard's temple.
However, Ethan didn't wait for him to answer. "But unfortunately, it's too late. Can you cancel the
engagement with your fianceé even if I divorce Pearl?"
Seven years has been past, and everyone was on a path of not turning back.
"You're overthinking." Richard coldly said.
"I hope so." Ethan snorted.
If he stayed any longer, it would just be verbal sparring. So Richard simply said, "I'm leaving now."
As Richard reached for the door, Ethan suddenly asked: "Why did Pearl have to break up with you
seven years ago? Aren't you curious about that?"
Richard's action paused.
Pearl told him the answer, which was because she was pregnant with the two children.
He didn't even look back and said with a hint of self-mockery, "Seven years is enough to bury
everything, as you said. Including curiosity."
The first year Pearl left, he tried to search for a reasonable explanation. He wanted to know why she
forwent her five-year relationship with him.
However, it was so long that it made he numb. If Pearl hadn't appeared again, he thought he would
stop investigating her ever again.
Ethan said: "But what if I tell you that it's related to you?"
Startled for a moment, Richard turned around.
"What?"
Ethan had been sitting in his chair the entire time with a serious look that rarely appeared in his eyes.
When he looked at Richard, it was obvious that he was unhappy.
If they insisted on starting from the Zellweger family, why not just blame the person who was most likely
to cause those problems?
As long as things were convenient for him, Ethan would cut corners without hesitation.
Unlike Pearl, he didn't have any feelings for Richard. He had no qualms about taking advantage of him.
It was better to have Richard, who was suspected of being the 'culprit of the incident', personally
investigate the matter.
