Chapter 27 Dreaming of Romy
As Byron hugged Athena, he felt everything changed a lot.
“Mr. Crawford,” Athena said.
She hesitated for a moment but did not resist.
She was very tired.
“Hum…” Byron buried his head in her neck and responded.
Athena felt as if her heart was being torn apart by something..
“I’m tired. I just want to live a peaceful and ordinary life. Please let me go,” she said.
She didn’t shout angrily or hysterically.
She just made a request calmly.
Byron subconsciously tightened his grip on Athena’s waist.
“I’m not Freya.” Athena said, “The looks you like are all acted out, but now I’m tired. I don’t want to be
Freya’s substitute anymore. I want to be myself.”
“Stop talking. Don’t you want to rest?” Byron said.
He gently covered Athena’s mouth with one hand.
“Sleep!” He said.
Athena didn’t know what Byron was thinking.
He didn’t love her, and now he had a new substitute, but why was he still pestering her?
Did she perform too well in the past?
Athena laughed at herself.
She woolgathered and fell asleep after a while.
Maybe she slept too deeply or the death threat scared her, Athena had a nightmare.
It was not actually a nightmare.
In the dream, she went back to the day her grandmother Romy was cremated.
A few neighbors came.
Athena was wearing a black dress.
After Romy died, she didn’t have many feelings.
She didn’t even shed any tears.
In those few years, Romy was tortured badly by illness.
They had spent a lot of money to treat Romy, but it was just a continuation of the pain for her.
Athena thought Romy was finally relieved.
However, when Romy was about to be pushed into the incinerator, a painful feeling suddenly
overwhelmed Athena.
She was so terrified that she wanted to take Romy back.
Neighbors cried and pulled her. She knelt outside with great fear.
“Grandma…
“Grandma…
“Grandma!” Athena cried.
“Thea…”
In Athena’s ears, there was a familiar sound.
opened her eyes.
“Do you have a nightmare?” Byron’s face slowly became clear before her eyes.
Athena’s breathing still hadn’t calmed down.
She gasped for breath.
Her eyes slowly focused.
“Are you okay?” Byron was worried and gently wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes with
his fingertips.
Athena withdrew her gaze and shook her head. “I’m fine.”
When Byron wanted to say something else, the doorbell rang.
Athena pushed Byron and said, “Give way.”
Byron refused and pushed her back. “Who is it? Your boyfriend?”
Athena was speechless.
The doorbell was still ringing, which was annoying.
“Byron…” Before Athena finished speaking, Byron lowered his
head and bit her neck.
“You’re crazy!” Athena pushed him away.
She pushed him away easily.
“Go open the door now,” Byron said.
Athena used her long hair to cover the mark on her neck and got out of the bed from the other side.
She opened the door.
Sure enough, it was Gabe, who was anxious.
“Athena, are you asleep? I couldn’t get through to you, and you didn’t open the door for so long. I’m so
worried!” Gabe sighed with relief, “It’s good you’re fine. Otherwise, I’ll call the police!”
“I fell asleep. What are you doing here?” Athena asked.
“Look at the time. It’s time to eat dinner!” Gabe was full of love. “You ate very little at noon. You don’t
like meat, right? Let’s go eat some vegetables tonight.”
Before Athena refused, Gabe looked behind her.
