My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Candice paused for a moment. She put her purse down, took off her jacket, and asked with her usual tone, “Here to talk about Sonia?”

She could not think of another reason for Alex to be in her house now.

Alex looked at her and answered with a question, “Why are you late?”

Candice had to work overtime for half an hour to fix Sonia’s file, so she knocked

off later than usual.

She got a cup of milk to warm herself up amid the chilly weather.

Alex stared at her as he leaned back on the couch, stretching his legs casually like he was the master of the house.

Candice said, “I worked late. It’s raining outside. That’s why I’m home late.”

“You don’t seem to like Sonia a lot,” Alex said with a firm tone as he raised his brows.

Candice took a sip of milk and felt a lot more comfortable. She was not interested in talking about Sonia with Alex.

“As long as you like her, does my opinion even matter?”

Candice replied with no intention of concealing her impatience. A pause later, she added, “Is there anything else?”

Alex’s phone on the coffee table rang for a moment. He glanced at it before switching his gaze back at Candice. He continued to stare at her blankly.

At the next moment, he turned back to his phone and picked it up to reply to the message. Then, his eyes traveled to Candice’s slender waist and he chuckled. ” What else do you think?”

Both of them were adults and Candice tacitly understood what the man wanted. Besides, they had been sleeping with each other for years.

However, Candice was not in the mood tonight. She stared at the window and listened to the rain as it washed her thoughts away.

Alex pinched her waist and kissed her on the lips. He said with his charming and deep voice, “Candice, play along now.”

The man was in a good mood tonight.

At the end of the sexy session, he even brought Candice to the shower to clean up,

However, he left multiple marks on her body and they remained until the next day.

Overdressing would attract attention, so Candice cleverly put on a long–sleeved shirt and matched it with high–waisted pants. The outfit gave her a mature woman look while covering wherever needed to be covered.

She somehow overlooked the hickey on her neck, which only heavens knew if it was left by Alex intentionally.

Sonia had a foul mood for the entire day and she kept looking at Candice.

During the lunch break, Candice heard a subtle argument coming from inside the CEO’s office before she went out.

Sonia darted out of the room with teary eyes. She paused for a moment as she strode past Candice before dashing away.

Candice continued packing her things indifferently, ready to head to a client’s meeting.

When she returned to the office, Sonia was at her desk with the same teary eyes.

Candice believed Alex and Sonia were still in their little fight, but it was none of

her business.

She brought a document to Alex’s room.

“I need your signature on this,” said Candice as she handed him the document.

Alex hummed a reply. He looked at her and then noticed the hickey on her neck. He furrowed his brows. “Why didn’t you cover it up? You wanted her to notice it?”

Candice said, “I wasn’t aware of it.”

She was cognizant that Sonia argued with Alex and he was in a foul mood too. She had to find an excuse for herself.

“If you need me to explain, I’ll go talk to her.”

Alex’s hand froze with the pen in between his fingers. He scoffed and asked, ” How are you going to explain it?”

“I slept with someone else. You have nothing to do with it.”

“Candice…”

Alex went silent for a while. He stared at her emotionless face as if she really had slept with another man last night.

He tightened his jaw and pressed his tongue against his palate. He slammed the pen on the table and sneered, “Are you trying to make me an indecent man?”
