My Husband Wants Me Dead (Esther and Bradley)

Chapter 64

Chapter 64

Just as Cole got into the car, Camila took out her phone and sent a message to an anonymous

number.

[Mr. Johnston from the Warner Group came to inquire about the identity of the couple who adopted

Pixie.]

Within three seconds of sending the message, the recipient responded with a cold and simple: [.]

Camila glanced at the Manuka honey that Cole had brought and estimated its value in her mind before

she took it into her house.

After Cole got in the car, he made several phone calls and found out where the former Sunflower

Welfare director, Joan Johnston, currently lived.

Camila was unaware that Cole was raised as an orphan in Sunflower Welfare. A few orphans during

then, including Cole, took on Joan’s surname-Johnston and affectionately referred to her as “Mama

Johnston”.

Because Cole excelled in his studies, Joan had specifically instructed him to study hard, as only

through education could he change his destiny.

Cole’s diligence and outstanding academic performance had caught the attention of Thomas, who

sponsored him all the way until he completed his master’s degree abroad and became Bradley’s

special assistant.

Joan now lived in a sanatorium not far from the Warner Group.

After Cole registered at the front desk, a staff member from the sanatorium escorted him to her room

and explained, “Madam Johnston doesn’t sleep much most of the time. She’s usually awake around

this time!”

When Cole entered the room, Joan was awake, sitting by the desk by the window and writing.

Joan’s handwriting was elegant with exquisite features, and Cole had managed to pick up her

calligraphy skills.

“Mama Johnston,” Cole called out.

Joan, who was writing at the moment, turned around slowly and carefully examined Cole’s appearance.

“Cole, how’s your new job? The pay and benefits at the Warner Group are good. You must work hard

and not let down Mr. Thomas’ support.”

Upon hearing Joan’s affectionate words, Cole’s eyes were rimmed red instantly, and he choked up.

Mama Johnston, I’m working very diligently, and I even received a bonus.”

Joan put down the pen in her hand and walked slowly to stand in front of Cole, reaching out to touch

his face.

“Cole, you must take care of yourself. Eat well, sleep well…”

Cole suddenly reached out and hugged Joan tightly, frightening her with his sudden closeness.

Joan struggled fiercely in his arms.

The staff members who had been nearby quickly stopped Cole and separated him from Joan. “Mr.

Johnston, you scared Mada

Cole looked somewhat bewildered as he stared at Joan, who timidly hid behind the staff member and

asked hesitantly, “Who… Who are you?”

The staff member explained, “This is her condition now. Sometimes, she’s clear-minded, and other

times she’s confused.”

Cole quickly took out his phone and

Cole then showed her a photo of Tink erbell and Pixie when they were one year old, anxiously asking,

Five years ago, on a snowy night, I handed you a pair of twin girls. Do you remember?”

Joan pointed at the photo on Cole’s phone with her finger and said, “They don’t have birthmarks.”
