Bailey's pov
Hearing my words, Kaleb's eyes widen a bit in surprise, his eyebrows lifting slightly. He cupped my cheek tenderly, leaning forward. "Of course not? Have you forgotten what I said earlier?"
My brows furrowed. So many things happened all at once that I can't recall if I missed anything important. The corner of his lips pulled up slightly into a small smile.
" Have you forgotten so soon baby?" he joked, brushing his thumb down my cheek tenderly. " I admitted that I am very selfish when it comes to you. Very to the point I can't let you go even when I should. Do you think," he whispered, eyes gleaming with so much honesty my heart pounds.
"I'd ever be able to let you go?" He whispered, leaning forward and kissing me on my forehead. "Wait until I find out who has been doing this to you and I'll drag them to hell myself."
—
It's been a week and everything has gone to practically normal. There had been no threat against my life or anything out of the ordinary.
My wound in my foot was healing up pretty well and so was the one on my hand. I still limped a bit when I walked, but my boyfriend would always carry me to my classes, so there was never need for me to walk too much on my foot to further hurt it even more.
"I can walk you know." I told Kaleb as he held me to him. He was taking his cool time to get to the classroom.
"And I can carry you," he smirked. "I can do much more than that actually." When he saw my flushed cheeks his smirk widened and he chuckled. " Are you thinking something naughty my little flower?"
I smacked his chest playfully, flushing even more as he let out a chuckle.
As he opened the door and walked across the room, I noticed the few students who were already seated there and their attention on us. More specifically him.
Everyone was still a bit gobsmacked by seeing this very different side of Kaleb. The side he never showed to anyone but me.
He gently plant me down on the seat and put my bag on the desk. He sat beside me because we had the same class.
I yelled when he gripped my chair and desk and suddenly tug them towards him until they stuck to his chair and desk.
I gave him an 'are you serious' look which he answered with a sheepish smile while uttering. " In case you need my help with anything."
I rolled my eyes, fighting off my smile. "I'm not disabled Kaleb. I think I can write on my own."
"Your hand still hurts, no?"
I raised a brow, lifting my injured hand. "It's not my dominant hand. I don't write with it."
He leaned forward until the tips of our noses brushed. "But you use it for other things."
My eyes widen when I heard awkward clearing behind us and knew that Kaleb's voice had traveled around the classroom.
Blushing fiercely, I pulled away and put my head on my arms on the desk, groaning in embarrassment. Kaleb chuckled, running a hand through my hair.
After a few minutes the teacher and the rest of the students filled the room and class began. The teacher who was used to Kaleb's actions didn't bother to tell him our desks and chair was way too close.
He carried on his lesson and when the bell rang to signal the end of the class, he told me to stay back and he needed to speak to me privately. He looked at Kaleb pointedly. "Alone."
Kaleb jaw ticked as he looked at me with concern. I nod, reassuring him that it was okay for him to leave me alone. "I'll be just outside the classroom." He kissed my head and packed up his stuff, leaving the room reluctantly.
As the door closed behind him the teacher started to pack up some papers while mumbling. "As you know there's an exam coming up soon."
I nod and respond with a yes, knowing he hadn't seen when I nodded.
He looked up from the stack of papers. " We need someone to tutor this student who has been a little behind and I believe you're the perfect one for the job. I would have given it to Kaleb, however he is training for the football finals."
My brows draw. Tutor someone?
"You'll be getting some extra credit for college of course, if you accept this. The student is easily able to grasp subjects quickly so you won't have much of an issue with her."
The offer was tempting, especially with the talks about earning some extra points for college. I really wanted to get into Harvard University.
I nod. "Who's the student?"
"Juliet. I think you're well acquainted with her. She's absent today but I can ring her parents to let them know you accept the job. Unless you're saying no to it?"
My eyes widen and my heart stops. Juliet? As in Kaleb and Mira's neighbor? She was the only Juliet in this class, so it had to be her.
Sure she had not been bitchy towards me since that run on the field however we were not close and it would be awkward to tutor her.
But those extra points were tempting and as I weighed the pros and the cons I figured it wouldn't be so bad. We were less hostile with each other and besides, I was only going to tutor her.
So I find myself agreeing to tutor Juliet and prayed I had not made a mistake.
"Great. You can start today after school."
