Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 621

When she woke up that morning and saw the empty room, Selena's heart sank with disappointment. She took the elevator up, and as soon as she walked into the room, she went straight to her suitcase, snapping it shut and pulling up the zipper.

Out of nowhere, a man's hand pressed down on the suitcase, stopping her. He wrapped his strong arms around her from behind, holding her firmly. His voice was rough, tinged with urgency and helplessness. "Selena, please, don't do this...

His familiar scent surrounded her, and Selena felt a dull ache in her heart. How could she be so vulnerable, still hurting because of him? She didn't resist, letting him hold her, but her voice was soft as she said, "Everett, I'm exhausted."

"Whether you explain or not doesn't matter anymore..."

But Everett wouldn't let her finish. Sensing the chill in her heart, he interrupted, desperate, "Selena, trust me, there's nothing going on between Yasmine and me!"

"My heart is completely yours!"

If he wanted to be with someone else, why go through all this trouble? With his status, no one could stop him from doing whatever he pleased. Yet, all he wanted was Selena. Why couldn't she see that?

Selena looked out at the view from the floor-to-ceiling window. The sun was shining in a clear blue sky. It should have been a perfect day for an outing.

Before coming here, she had planned to tell Everett that their Haley was on the way, and next year, they could welcome a little dragon baby. She also thought about the famous Lovers' Bridge in Paris, where couples lock a padlock to promise everlasting love. Even though it was a bit childish, and Everett, with his worldliness, might dismiss it, she still wanted to take him there. What's wrong with a bit of silliness between lovers?

She had even prepared a gift for

She made two sweaters, one for him and one for herself, matching couple's designs, hoping they'd wear them together for a Christmas stroll. She dreamed of such lovely things. Yet, he had shattered those dreams with a harsh reality check!

Tears threatened to spill from Selena's eyes, but she was grateful her back was to him, hiding them. She didn't want to show any weakness in front of him.

The man behind her kept professing his deep love and loyalty, but Selena didn't take in a word. She swallowed hard and finally spoke.

"Alright, I believe you."

Those words stopped Everett in his tracks. At first, he couldn't believe his ears, but then joy swelled within him. Eagerly, he turned her around, his dark eyes fixed on her beautiful face.

"Really? Selena, you really believe me, don't you?" He leaned in happily to kiss her.

But Selena turned her face away, her lips barely parting as she whispered, "But..."noveldrama

She paused, breaking free from his arms, stepping back a bit, and spoke deliberately. "From today on, I'll handle all of Yasmine's burn treatments and follow-up care You can't have any private contact with her Can you promise me that?"
