Mated To The Twin Alpha Heirs

Let Me Go

I heard chants and hums as we got closer to the ceremony ground. It would seem they had started without me already. Maybe my mother was there already. "We are here."

Lucas whispered to me.

"I can see."

I whispered right back.

He beamed and we stepped out of a very wide open ground. There was fire and people were crowding it.

"Let her go, Luke."

Aaron told him.

He unhooked my arms from his and immediately nerves twisted. I was confused and lost. What should I expect? Lucas walking me here had calmed me of my fears. I guess they all saw the fear in my eyes.

"It's okay, Kathy. We should not be holding or walking together with you in public yet until the ceremony is done. That's the rule, sadly."

"You'll be fine, hot legs."

"Stop calling her that. She's not those your toys in school." Lucas warned.

But Zach paid him no mind.

"Go, Katherina. It will be over soon"

Aaron's voice was reassuring. And I nodded.

"Thanks, guys."

"Don't be scared. Just think of it this way; this is the only way you get to be related to four cool, handsome brothers."

Lucas wriggled his eyebrows, I laughed. He was weird and sweet. He was trying to make me be at ease. To drive away fear and nerves threatened to knock me off my grid.

"Go. They are waiting for you."

Aaron instructed. He wasn't wearing an encouraging smile like his brother Lucas, but I could tell he was reassuring me without words that I would be fine.

"Okay. Thank you so much, I appreciate."

The words were barely out of my mouth when I heard the scream. No one had turn to look in our direction, meaning no one had seen us yet. They were all focused on doing whatever it was they were doing. But why did the voice sound familiar? I heard it again. My mother. Without another thought to what I was doing or whatever fear that was making me hesitant, I ran to the scene. I did not check to see if the boys were following me. I ran until I got near the fire and saw the figure kneeling before it. Mom. I went to her and was about to touch her.

"Don't go close to her. Let the bond work."

Beta Mark had spoken. Beside him was Alpha David, my stepfather. His expression was blank, but I noticed that at every cry my mother made, his nose or brows twitched a little. He was affected by her sound too and I guess the mate bond had a lot to do with it.

"Kneel."

I went on my knees at the strict order of Beta Mark. He began chanting and the rest of the crowd that had formed a circle behind them hummed along to the chants. I could not understand a word they were saying but I was beginning to get affected. Not too much but enough to let me know something was going on here. My four stepbrothers were there already, standing beside their father in a circle form.

"Free your mind, Your Highness. Let the bond take over and overwhelm you."

It took me a moment to know Beta Mark was referring to me. I was not used to the 'Your Highness' honorifics. My mother was still screaming behind me. My brows furrowed in concentration as I stared intensely at my mother. She was dripping with sweat, her tunic was wet. Her hair was scattered around her. She looked ferocious yet in pain. Soon, my head began to tingle, starting from the nape of my neck up till my forehead, then my temples. Before I could control it, I was screaming too. Somewhere far away, I heard a growl. It was deep and menacing, then a slump.

"The Luna's bond is complete."

I heard someone say.

My screaming had died down but I was uncomfortable. My bracelet began itching my skin. I rubbed it aggressively against my skin to stop the itch, but it did not. It began to blink. My eyes connected to the big green stone as the light steadied and beamed brightly. I saw something inside it. Something I'd been keeping hidden for years. It gazed back at me with such anger and stubbornness.

Free me.

"No"

Let me go, Katherina.

"No."

You can not hide me forever. "No."

I am you, Katherina.

"No!"

My whole body began to shake, the green stone had stopped blinking. It was back to its lackluster state. I began to feel feverish. I quivered violently. Then it stopped, but I was extremely exhausted. "Something's wrong somewhere, Alpha."

"I fear so too. She's not supposed to react that bad."

"Maybe her wolf is fiercer, Alpha."

"Beta, she's having a different reaction from her mother."

Hushed discussions were going on around me, I could hear them. But I was too weak to open my eyes to see the person who were saying them. Subconsciously, I remembered my mother and tried to reach out for her, only I was too weak to even move a limb. Was she fine? Who had broken her fall? Did someone carry her? I knew she was the one who had slumped. I wanted to ask someone, anyone but I could not find my voice yet. I tried to open my eyes, even my own lids felt too heavy. I felt a torturous ache in my head again. And this time, it overwhelmed my head in full force that made it almost impossible for me to breathe. I had to struggle to inhale and exhale. I felt the fast running of sweat down my face. Tendrils clung to the skin on my forehead, soon my screams became loud, my whole body felt like I was being tormented. I screamed until I could scream no more. I was losing strength, I felt my lips move but I had no idea what had come out of it. Soon, I grew weak and before I could help myself, my body hit the ground and I was irresistibly pulled into the cold, dark realm of unconsciousness.
