Mated To The Twin Alpha Heirs

I loved my mate. Ever since I saw her walking aimlessly, looking lost and quite forlorn on my boundary, my wolf had recognized hers and a bond had formed immediately. I just had to walk up to her, and her eyes shone with recognition. She had recognized her mate - me. And she complimented me as a mate should. She was sweet, funny and stubborn. In all, she was a wonderful she-wolf and I had not made the mistake of making her my Luna and mating her after her initiation. The Initiation rite was a lifelong norm of the Stone Shadow pack. Ever since this pack was built it has always been done, there was also one thing no one knew about the significance behind the initiation ceremony. It also showed the true intentions of the person being added into the pack, especially the royal family.

Though I loved my mate, I would not settle for a woman who was just after my wealth. And that night, everything had been settled. My mate and her daughter had no evil intentions whatsoever. They were not here for the money or the position. My Luna accepted me because she loved me and her daughter was a good young lady. But there was something not quite right about her wolf.

To bind you to the rules and regulations of Stone Shadow pack and to the royal family, one's wolf which was a bigger part of the essence of the initiation must be present. It does not necessarily mean one must transmute to their beast form, but through their eyes, their wolf must be seen. While I had not seen that in the eyes of my step daughter. And it made me suspicious. Though, surprisingly, the bond accepted her as part of the family but why did her wolf not show? "You seem to be in deep thought, my Alpha."

My Luna walked in.

"Oh nothing really."

"Are you sure?" "Mh-mm."

I contemplated whether to ask her or not. I did not want to offend her. She came to stand before me and intently watch me.

"You are dying to ask me something. What is it?"

"I wonder how you know me so well."

"I'm your mate, remember? The mate bond runs deeper than any of us can ever understand."

I drew her close and kissed her. She wrapped her hands around me and kissed me back. Then she drew back.

"Don't try to distract me. Tell me what's going on with you?"

"On the contrary, I was not trying to distract you. I was more of preparing you."

"Preparing me? For what?"

"For what I am about to ask you."

"Do you have to do that? I mean you can kiss me and everything. But why do you feel you need to prepare me with a kiss before you can ask me anything? Did you do anything wrong? Tell me." "I did not do anything wrong."

"You cheated on me?"

I was taken aback and very offended. "What? Why would you even think that?"

She sighed. "I don't know. You're being suspenseful right now."

"I'm sorry. Okay, let's take a seat."

She frowned a bit but did not argue. She sat facing me.

"I'm going to be asking questions from your past and I know you said you did not want to talk about some of them but I need to ask you. I need to know. It's important, I know."

I hope she sees the importance of this issue and agrees with me. Her replies would certainly go a long way to help me clarify this issue, Katherina was her daughter after all. "Okay, what is it?"

"Who is the biological father of Katherina?"

I was expecting her to get annoyed and raise her voice at me, but she did neither. She was still composed and her face showed no emotion.

"A boy I used to be in love with."

"Was he a werewolf or a human?"

"A werewolf."

"Okay. That is all."

"Alright."

Then she stood and proceeded to the door. I went to hold her.

"I'm sorry. I just wanted to know."

"And I have told you what you wanted to know. Can I go now?"

Maybe now was not the time to talk to her. She was upset. Maybe when she was better, we would sit and talk.

"I love you."

I kissed her. Without a word nor even a glance in my direction, she walked out. I picked up my phone and called my Beta. I needed him to solve this particular riddle. I really loved Katherina as my daughter and she was mine as much as she was her mother's. If I didn't, I would not be treating her the same way I treated my boys. I would not have bought her a phone or even bought her a car. She had been so happy when I had given her the car and it was partly to boost her self- confidence because I had noticed she was the shy and constantly nervous type. But I had to understand what was wrong with her...or her wolf.

"I want you here now."

I ended the call and quickly dressed up and went downstairs to wait for my Beta to arrive. My Luna was nowhere in sight. I sighed. I'd find her later.

"Good morning, Alpha."

"Good day, Beta."

"You called, Alpha."

"Yes, Beta."

"Is everything alright?"

He asked as I offered him a seat and took one myself. A decanter of brandy was on the table between us, I'd been taking some before he arrived. I had asked one of the maids to bring two shot glasses.

"It's about my stepdaughter and what happened that initiation night. You and I have talked about this. We both saw what happened."

"Yes, we did. I have been suspicious ever since because she is the first werewolf to undergo the initiation ritual without her wolf showing herself through the eyes."

"Exactly. And what baffles me is the bond worked on her."

"That roused my suspicions more. What do you suggest we do, Alpha?"

I watched him down the rest of his drink and stared at me expectantly. If my Luna should hear me say this, she'd have my neck, but I couldn't let this go. It was too big of an issue to let go. The initiation ceremony was my family's legacy, if something that had never happened for centuries happened one night, I wanted to know why.. "Keep an eye on her. Help me find out if she has a wolf or not."
