Aaron
It was Monday and school as usual. I did not really care for these students and the life they led. This was my final year and I could not wait to be out of here and officially become a graduate. Dad already had successful companies waiting for me and my brothers. Stone Shadow pack is the biggest and most prosperous pack in the whole regions, and even the pack that was the second was no where near Stone Shadow pack in wealth and land. We had the best everything and our people were practically good at everything. Sports, music, medical sector, academic sector even our houses were the best. I was proud of what my father had achieved and I wanted to achieve more too. As the first son, it was my duty and I could not wait for the day I'd become Alpha of Stone Shadow pack.
As my brothers and I stepped into the school building, the usual stares of both girls and boys alike were all on us. We were not just known to be the Alpha's sons, but also the most intelligent, most handsome and best sports guys on campus. Though our personalities differ, we still drew crowd to us.
"What's up, werewolves? Love what you see, huh?"
Lucas grinned. He was the funniest and bubbly one amongst us. And he was very handsome too, no doubt. He was a freshman and just celebrated his eighteenth birthday three months before. One thing I loved about him was his optimism, he was always smiling, I don't think I've ever seen him stay sad for long. He cluelessly makes mistakes and never hesitates to apologize if and when he's wrong. "Hi, Lucas."
A girl from the crowd greeted. He threw her a wink and the poor girl flushed scarlet. It felt just like high school where everyone ran on hormones and teenage exuberance. Well, some of them were still teenagers, fresh out of high school. "Hi, Aaron."
I recognized that voice. I smiled when she came close.
"Hey, Katelyn."
"Hey back handsome."
"How are you, Kay?"
She giggled.
She loved when I called her Kay instead of her full name. And sometimes I give in just for the fun of it, moreover Kay is short and simple. She was Beta Mark's cousin, hence, the friendship. "Hey, Luke."
"What's up Kate?"
"Zach."
"Katelyn."
"Trenton, I know you won't reply my greetings but I'll still say hey to you."
As typical as it was of Trenton, he did not reply. No one except us and dad understood Trenton. He was not our biological brother, he was adopted. His life before dad adopted him was traumatizing enough and even though he'd lived with us for years, he still found it hard to open up to people. He was considered cold and mean but my brothers and I knew he was still a guy deeply affected by his past.
"So you guys are just coming in?"
Katelyn turned to me.
"Yes."
"How did your weekend go?"
"It was okay. How did yours go?"
"I had fun. I went shopping and treated myself to a spa."
"Looks like your weekend was covered."
"Yes. Did you not notice my new hairdo?"
"It looks good on you."
"I'm glad you love it."
"Did you make it for him?"
Lucas asked. By now, students have dispersed. Some were walking to their first lecture of the day, others were still talking to friends. "I'm off."
Trenton said and walked away.
"You have lectures now?"
Lucas asked him.
He gave a small nod.
"Wait for me then."
Lucas ran after him.
"You guys don't belong in the same year, doofus."
Zach told Lucas who was already going after Trenton.
"I know but it's better than just standing there and watch Katelyn flirt with Aaron. And don't call me a doofus next time, doofus."
Zach gave him the middle finger but Lucas blew a kiss to him in return. Zach pretended to be disgusted and gagged.
"Your loss."
Lucas called and increased his pace to meet up with Trenton who has long turned a corner.
Soon Zach met a friend and they were off too.
"See you later, bro."
"Take care of yourself."
Zach turned to give me the 'really' look. I shrugged and waved him bye.
"He was embarrassed."
Katelyn stated.
"I know."
"Playing the big brother role, huh?"
"Well, I can't help it. They are my responsibility. If anything goes wrong with any of them, my dad would have my neck."
"I get it."
"That's how it is. You don't have lectures?"
I asked her. Katelyn was a nice girl and I found her friendship interesting.
"Not for another hour."
"Why do you come early then?"
"To see you. I missed you through the weekend."
"I'm not sure that's true. You had fun, remember?"
She laughed. "Yes, I did. But it's not a crime to have fun and still miss you."
"Maybe it should be considered a crime."
She playfully elbowed me. "Hey. That's no fair."
We both laughed. We had started walking towards the bleachers. I did not have lecture until ten and it was ten past nine when I checked my watch. As the sons of the owner of the academy, father wanted us to lead by example and also he'd said it was a way of familiarizing ourselves with his academy property. It has always been so from middle school, we usually arrived before we had class. He would soon extend to Katherina, who was going to be joining us tomorrow. I hope she was fine. I wondered what she was doing at that moment. She seemed to be very shy and reserved. Maybe it was that quietness and shyness that drew me to her and made me stare like a simpleton whenever she was near. Apart from her shy nature, I felt there was more to her. The air of mystery surrounding her was another force of attraction that was trying to bind me to her. Even my wolf could not resist the attraction, he steadily pranced in excitement once we got close to her. My wolf - Olgan - had tempted me once to run my fingers through her long brown hair, I had to fight the urge. Olgan had been angry with me over it, but I did not want to come off as being creepy. She was still a new person and we did not know each other that well. No matter how beautiful she looked or how surprisingly attracted I was to her, I had to be careful still. I was going to be the next Alpha, I could not just let myself be carried away by attraction. I had the Salvatore legacy to protect and proudly continue.
Katelyn nudged my arm. I looked at her.
"Did you not hear me?"
Had she been talking to me?
"Uhm. No. What did you say?"
"I said how did you own weekend go?"
"It was okay."
"In details, Aaron. I want to hear all about it."
"Uhm, we welcomed a new family and did the usual initiation."
"Oh, that's true. My cousin mentioned it to when he came visiting."
"Yep."
"Your father got a new Luna and the Luna has a daughter, is it?"
"Yes. Katherina May"
"Oh. You already know her."
"Well, she's my stepsister. I have to know her."
"Alright. So how's is she? Nice or bitchy or nerdy?"
"She's... wonderful"
I replied after a second thought. She was wonderful, that was the truth.
"Is that why you have the grin on your face?"
"What grin?"
"The one you had when talking about her."
"Oh, never mind me."
"Hmm."
