Chapter 85
“Arabella.” Blaze gripped her hand, pulling her back, but she slapped his hand away and unlocked the car.
“Bella.” He called desperately to her, but it felt like he was talking to himself and a hard wall.
He watched her with wide eyes as she stepped out of the car and walked towards the black figure.
Blaze came down as well. He didn’t know what was happening to her, but he couldn’t let her go to the black figure alone.
He halted a few metres from where the black figure was, and he frowned.
Blaze rubbed his clammy palms on the leather pant he donned and shook his head.
He was terrified, and it wasn’t because the area they were in got darker.
The moon going back in contributed to his fear, and it was the fact that he could not tell what specie the figure was.
Although he was aware it was a Supernatural being, he didn’t know what exactly it was.
Blaze moved towards Bella and gripped her hand. He turned her to face him, and he cupped her face.
“Look at me, Bella.” He said firmly.
Her eyes were still the unusual colours, and her body felt hot and cold simultaneously.
Blaze gripped her shoulder and shook her. “Come on, snap out of the daze you are in!”
He yelled, but that didn’t do the trick. Instead, she stretched forth her palm, and he flew backwards.
“Goddamn it!” Blaze groaned as he slammed into the hood of his car.
He grimaced as he stood to his feet. The dent he had created on his car didn’t look like what an ordinary shove would do.
Arabella had only stretched out her hand and made him fly backwards.
Perhaps, the wind blowing had hurled him backwards. But Blaze knew it was impossible as it wasn’t that strong.
Blaze knew Arabella didn’t have any hidden powers except her being Delicate Rose. He never saw her exhibit any supernatural powers. However, she was acting strange.
Could it be because of the poison from the rogue werewolves in her system? He wondered.
He walked up to her again as she neared the black figure.
Arabella was possessed; that was the only way he could explain what was happening.
Everything happened so fast. One minute Blaze was staring at Arabella in front of the black figure; the next minute, they were going head-to-head.
Blaze opened his mouth agape, watching in awe as she combatted with it.
He didn’t and had never imagined Arabella was this powerful and could fight until now.
Staring at her, it felt as though he was seeing a whole new person.
The black figure hoisted Arabella, swung her in the air, and slammed her to the ground.
Blaze heard her grunt, and he surged towards them.
But he was shoved backwards. He tried again as the black figure held Arabella by the neck. He felt the same energy thwarting his effort to reach them.
“Arabella!” He shouted, trying to push through the force field, but it was useless.
“Please stop!” Blaze yelled as Arabella turned to him.
Blaze saw her eyes. They had changed to their usual colours, and her mouth moved, but he didn’t know what she was saying.
“Run.”
He heard her say as he concentrated on her.
Blaze glared. “How the fuck am I supposed to leave you in a chokehold?!”
“Please.” She said.
Blaze scowled and turned.
He narrowed his eyes as he heard a crackling sound.
He glimpsed a blue flash, and his eyes flickered towards the sky as it sounded like lightning. However, the sky was dark, and He couldn’t feel any incoming storm.
Perhaps, he imagined the sound, Blaze pondered.
But the tiny flash had gotten more expansive, and it widened more, he realised it was a portal, but he didn’t know who had created it.
Blaze shook his head and turned again, and pinched the bridge of his nose before staring at Arabella.
He noticed she was the one creating the portal. Fuck, he glimpsed the bright energy around her and how hard she tried to make it more comprehensive.
How was it happening?
Arabella was human. Her father was human. But how was she able to make a portal?!
Blaze knew only a powerful creature could make an advanced portal like that, but he couldn’t wrap his head around what was happening.
Arabella knew she was dying. She felt it, and the last life force within her; she used it.
She didn’t know what she was doing, but a voice in her head told her to.
It instructed her to open the portal, which was the only way Blaze would be saved.
The black figure was draining her. She barely had any energy left, and she wondered how she was still conscious of seeing everything moving around.
Blaze…
She saw the fear in his eyes. And how he desperately wanted to help her. But she knew it was near impossible.
It had been a dick move that she walked towards the black figure without thinking. But she had barely done it herself. She felt the control; just as the voice had told her to open the portal, it had made her walk out of the car to face it off.
Arabella was still confused, but at least whatever she was doing worked. She had successfully distracted it from Blaze.
He’d be alive. She didn’t mind dying for him.
Arabella gasped as she felt herself being yanked out of where she was.
She glanced at Blaze, and he gritted his teeth at her. “I’m not letting you die, and we better die at the same time if you’re thinking of that!”
Arabella shoved him. “Fucking, let go and save yourself!”
“Do you understand what you are saying? Do you want to be the heroine of the day? You are no fucking heroine, Bella!”
Arabella shoved him. But he didn’t let her go. He held unto her. “I’m trying to safe you.”
“I need no saving. And whatever is going on, I need an answer to it. You are the only one who can give it to me, and I need you alive!” He shoved her sideways and glared at the Black figure.
“Fight me,” Blaze shouted.
“He’ll die.”
A voice said in her head.
Arabella shook her head.
“He’s destined to die.”
“Liar,” Arabella said.
She gripped her head and shook it. “leave me alone!”
She let out a cry, and the black figure staggered backwards.
Blaze furrowed his brows. He saw the movement. The more scream Arabella made, the more powerless the black figure seemed.
And that gave him an advantage.
“Do whatever you do; I’ll take care of him!” He bellowed.
Blaze rushed at the figure, but he didn’t do anything before it disintegrated.
He heaved out a breath, clasping his knees. He turned to Arabella, and the smile on his face vanished.
Arabella lay sprawled on the floor, perhaps from the intense scream.
Blaze ran to her side and felt her pulse.
It was faint, but she was alive. However, he knew she needed treatment.
Yet, he couldn’t go back home. There were too many enemies at the back, and he was sure it was the same way in the front.
Without further ado, Blaze jumped into the portal she had created, and it closed almost immediately.
