Chapter Ten- Unsettled scores??
“What just happened here?”
Anderson asked, feigning an initial ignorance of whatever he heard.
“Oh Anderson, you’re here”
Mr. Green said.
“Yes, I am.”
Anderson replied.
“And I asked what just happened here, Dad.”
“Are you directing your question to me?”
His father asked with an eyebrow raised and Anderson huffed.
“Well.”
Anderson said, clamped his hands on his chest, and leaned against the wall after closing the door behind him.
“Who’d I be talking to otherwise?”
“Did you suddenly forget we’re at work, and you shouldn’t address me as ‘Dad’ ?”
Mr. Green threw at Anderson and April smiled evilly.
She knew the heck what was gonna come next.
“Oh, That? I forgot.”
Anderson simply replied.
“You don’t have manners, Anderson. You should learn from your younger sister. She’s more respectful than you are.”
“Yeah… Whatever”
Anderson huffed.
“You don’t command respect dad. Oh sorry, I forgot… MR. GREEN.”
Anderson added sarcastically.
“You earn respect! Oh, I also forgot, April’s your favorite. She does everything you ask her to do and you also expected that from mom which eventually pushed her to her death.”
“Anderson!”
His dad shouted and got up from his seat and April seized this as an opportunity for her to get more and more into her Dad’s good book.
“Dad, calm down. The doctor said you need to watch your Blood pressure. You need to ignore this pimp of a son and cool down, or do you want to leave me all alone in this world?”
April asked with fake teary eyes and her hands on her Dad.
“Mr. Green”
Anderson answered his dad’s call in a bored tone.
“Hand over the documents for the Clothing Line to April”
Simon said as he slowly sat down.
April wiped her fake tears and then beamed a smile at him because he was sitting down showing that he listened to her.
“And why would I do that?”
“Because she’s going to be the one handling it from today.”
Mr. Green replied.
“Well, NO.”
Anderson said and took a sip from his coffee. He almost puked when his tongue tasted it. It was already cold.
“Anderson, do what I asked you to.”
“Why would you suddenly want April to handle the clothing line? Am I simply not capable enough?!”
Anderson asked while trying so hard to hide his emotion.
“Because she’s proved herself worthy, yes, you’re not capable enough.”
His dad replied.
“But Green Wears has been flourishing under me, how does that make me ‘not capable’ like you said?”
Anderson put in a sarcastic tone at the end.
“Green cosmetics is doing much better than Green wears, and that’s because you don’t work as hard as April does.”
Mr. Green said and at that, Anderson lunged towards his father.
How dare he imply he was impotent as a brand CEO? Comparing him to April wasn’t enough, he had to compare his work with April’s all because she was his pet daughter.
He was almost near his dad when April stood up and held him back.
“What do you think you’re doing? Are you trying to walk up to dad’s face?”
April asked, amusement written all over her face.
“Stay away from me you Jezebel. You caused all these!”
Anderson screamed at April and for this, April slapped him on the cheek.
For a total of 5 seconds, everything froze for Anderson. Was he dreaming, or did the sister he saw the world 3 years before she was born hit him on his cheek?
Realization hit him and everything came alive once more.
“Did you just hit me?”
Anderson held his cheek.
“Yes… Yes, I did. What’re you gonna do about it?”
April asked and faced him.
Anderson forgot his No. 5 rule (Never hit a woman no matter what happens) in rage and raised his hand and was about to hit her back when someone held his hand.
He looked at the person and saw that his father had left his desk and was the one holding his hand.
“Don’t. You. Dare.”
His father warned and the look in his eyes held so much power.
Anderson struggled between morals and anger in his mind. His morals were tugging at him, telling him to put his hand down, apologize to his father and do what he asked, but his anger was telling him to remove his hand from his dad’s grip even if it meant putting his father on the floor and hit his sister to a blank unconsciousness.
He finally decided.
He put his hand down, pulled a chair forward, and pushed his sister down on it.
He pulled the chair to face him and looked at April.
“Listen here, young lady. Just because you have dad whipped around your finger doesn’t mean you’ll use that against me and do whatever you want.” Anderson started. “I’m your elder brother, and you’ll give me the respect I deserve.”
April laughed hysterically and ended it with a giggle.
“Elder brother my foot. You ruined everything for me. You sent him away. You’re the cause of it all”
April said and when tears started to form in her eyes, she held them shut to keep off the tears. She’d never show her weakness in front of anyone.
“I did what?”
Anderson asked but it was too late.
The evil April was back and the emotional one that could have told him what she felt he did wrong to her was gone.
“What did you do?”
April asked.
“I’m asking you that April. What exactly did I do?”
Anderson asked and he felt frustration setting in.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about Anderson. Just let me be.”
April glared at him.
When Anderson realized she wasn’t going to speak, he let his grip on the chair’s arms loose and stood up straight, therefore releasing April from his chair prison.
“It’s Alright then.”
Anderson said in an *I give up* manner.
“I’ll be in my office. Sorting out the documents for the clothing line would take some time, so I’ll have it sent to you by one of the office workers. It was nice being the manager, so if I enjoyed it… You will too”
Anderson beamed a hurt smile at her and his dad and walked out of his dad’s office.
“Anderson… Wait!”
His dad called, but he never looked back.
