Chapter 25 The Wildcat and Leech
The storm was raging strong, and the howling winds rattled the windows.
The neighborhood roads were closed, and the weather station issued repeated warnings. Thus, Edmond and Alicia were stuck in their apartment, unable to go anywhere.
Alicia's condo apartment had only one bedroom.
Although her fever had gone down, her body was still very weak.
Edmond had not caught a wink since last night, and after making sure Alicia's fever had gone down, he was exhausted. He lay down on the bed, completely ignoring Alicia's protesting.
"Fine. Edmond Agos, you can sleep here as you please, but don't you dare to touch me." Alicia warned.
Edmond wrapped his hands around Alicia as he embraced her from behind. He buried his face in the nest of her neck and said hoarsely, "Shh, stop talking."
His hot breath exhaled onto Alicia's collarbone, sending a tingling sensation throughout her body before she stiffened up.
At first, Alicia planned to make Edmond sleep on the living room sofa.
However, when she heard his smooth rhythmic breathing, she could not bear to chase him out to the living room, so Alicia let Edmond hug her to sleep.
The scent that belonged to him lingered around her nose.
Alicia was very uncomfortable as, after all, they were a fake married couple. They had never been so intimated before.
However, she had to admit that the hug from Edmond was very comfortable, as he had a broad and muscular torso that was enough to provide her with warmth and security.
After a while, Alicia also drifted off to her dream.
Around 2 a.m., the phone rang.
Alicia was annoyed and whacked Edmond before ordering, "Hey! Go and pick up your phone. It's so noisy."
Edmond nuzzled his head against her shoulder and went back to sleep, completely ignoring her.
"Ring..." The phone continued ringing.
After three consecutive calls, Alicia was irritated and awakened by the annoying calls. She huffed angrily and took away Edmond's phone to pick up the calls.
Her voice was extremely annoyed as she answered the call, "Who is it? Why do you have to call so many times in the middle of the night? Are you not letting other people sleep?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line.
Alicia looked down at the phone screen and realized it was an unknown number, making her even more furious.
Just when she was about to hang up the call, a condescending and delicate voice answered in disbelief.
"Why are you the one answering Ed's phone?"
It turned out the unknown caller was Diane Gold.
Before Alicia could rebut, Edmond raised his head suddenly and narrowed his eyes as he inched closer to her ear.
His low and captivating husky voice rang out as he warned.
"Go to sleep now, or shall we have another round if you can't sleep?"
As soon as he finished his sentences, his other hand reached over and hung up the call.
He switched off the phone and threw it aside.
Edmond held Alicia's chin and kissed her twice before she nudged him with her elbow and warned with slight annoyance, "Behave yourself, and don't play with fire."
He chuckled as he closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around Alicia again before returning to sleep.
The rain gradually lightened in the early morning.
When Alicia woke up, Edmond had just finished showering and walked out of the bathroom with a bath towel hung around his waist.
Indeed, just like Alicia's mother had said before, Edmond had a very well-toned figure with a muscular waist and abs... However, a faint red scratch on his body made Alicia freeze for a few seconds.
Edmond could sense her gaze as he smirked and chuckled before teasing.
"Your scratching ability is quite similar to a wildcat."
Alicia was speechless and embarrassed.
She ran into the bathroom to clean herself up and saw hickeys all over her neck and collarbone in the mirror. It instantly made her blood boil.
"Edmond Agos must be a leech!" Alicia thought fumingly.
After she finished her shower and came out, Alicia finally felt more balanced when she saw several bite marks on the back of Edmond, who was back facing her.
It seemed like the both of them were tied neck to neck for the battle last night.
Alicia grabbed a set of men's pajamas from her closet, threw them on the bed, and commanded, "Put these on and pass me your dirty laundry from last night. I'll wash them for you."
Edmond glanced at the dark blue pajamas on the bed, and his gaze darkened as it had the same design as Alicia's dark red nightgown.
After a while, he asked coldly, "That man often sleeps over at your house?"
Alicia was blow-drying her hair, and she could not help but frown upon hearing his questioning as she looked at him through the mirror.
Edmond's expression seemed slightly darkened as he lifted his phone and showed her the hot trending gossip for her to see.
