Chapter 7: Pay For It

Chapter 7: Pay For It

Dan remembered those who were dedicated to master, and then felt cold, thus praying for her and hoping she would pass this dilemma.

William raised his eyebrow slightly, “Why are you still here?”

Dan listened to the dissatisfaction in his tone, so he hurried to withdraw without lingering.

The luxurious and spacious hall was silent again.

William took a deep breath and touched his forehead with the tips of his fingers, which hurt a lot.

It was time for the woman who teased him to pay for it.

Lucy did not fall asleep until 2 a.m., looking at the photos in a daze.

A man and a woman stood beside each other, smiling. They looked like the perfect couple.

She reached out her arm to hit the picture frame.

The glass fell to the ground, smashing loudly.

The pictures were her memories with Byron, bad or good.

The next morning at 6 a.m., Lucy got up early, stretched lazily, and then went into the bathroom.

She had asked for a leave of absence the day before, so today she came to the company an hour earlier than usual and she thought there would be a big task waiting for her to deal with, and meant to concentrate on the work at hand.

There was nobody except for Lucy at the company, and it was very quiet. That meant that she could pay more attention to her work. She boiled a mug of steaming hot coffee, and sat back at her desk to deal with the work from the day before.

She was in charge of the sale of the medical instrument in her region. As a result, she needed to travel around the region and have social interactions with different age groups. Hard as it was, she still liked it.

Time flies fast for people immersed in their work.

After dealing with some of her work, she stretched her sore neck and shoulder and stared at her watch.

It was almost time for everyone else to show up at the office.

Shortly after, there was a general shuffle, and the noise of high-heel shoes on the ground was heard clearly.

Lucy raised her hand, and several female colleagues saw her, leaving her eyesight and then continued to debate over colors of lipstick.

Lucy curled the corners of her mouth.

Some of them entered into the company together with her, some of them climbed to higher positions and others found other jobs. Only Lucy had stayed in the same company for several years and still worked at the lowest level of the small business. Those juniors not only disrespected her, but also sneered at her. What’s more, all of them were women, so you can imagine how many unpleasant words were spoken behind her back.

Lucy, a magnanimous woman, totally ignored what they did and never participated in with them. She knew what to do and what not to do.

Whatever they wanted to say was not something Lucy could control, and it was unnecessary to focus on it.

It seemed that the bad hunch in her heart had become even clearer.

She stayed at the hospital yesterday, and her cellphone was also broken, so she did not know what happened.

She didn’t come to realize what had happened yesterday until her close female colleague came up to tell her everything.

A few business affairs had been stopped yesterday, and it was not a small number.

All of the lists were finished by Byron before. After they broke up, she had meant to give up but there were some difficulties forcing her to continue on with the company.

It might have been better to leave.

Seeing Lucy without any expression on her face, her colleague was a little worried about her. If you’re in a bad mood, it’s better not to bottle it up.

Lucy did not want to say more, and waved her hands. “Don’t worry, I will talk to the manager.”

“Why didn’t you check? Why did you say yes to me?”

Lucy heard a roar, and came to realize, “Mom, something happened to delay my schedule, and now I have some business to attend to. Waiting a while, and I will give you a call.”

“No way, you have to check in today, no excuses, or I’ll come to your company by myself and drag you to the hospital!”
