Chapter 36
Vassily then chuckled. “Don’t make me laugh, Cara. You risk for war because of Angelo’s idiotic choices.”
“Whatever makes my brother happy, I will support it. Even if I break our alliance. Sol is my blood. That’s all that matters.”
He closes his eyes in frustration and looks away.
“I better hear news that you’re going home tomorrow.” The line went dead right after. He threw his phone to the bed.
“Even Cara supports you, huh.”
I know Cara will never let me down so this conversation was no surprise.
“Even if you’re safe from me, there are always others who will come after you.”
“I know. That’s my problem to deal with, Vassily.”
He surprisingly nodded. We became silent with no one wanting to start a conversation so I decided to leave him alone.
“I’ll leave you be.” I then walked out and slammed the door shut, forgetting my original plan to face him head on and tell him that I will never change my mind. It turns out my sorella did it for me.

Hailynn
I was in the mood to make breakfast so I helped the maids to prepare for it. We always prepare a lot of food since some of Dante’s men are still here. Some of them wanted to stay here and support their former boss.
Right after everything was set, I went back to my bedroom to change my clothes. I was surprised to see Dante’s friend along the way. His name was Vassily. Apparently, this man is in the Russian mafia. The leader of it too. He was good looking with blonde hair and dark eyes but that was it. He left a bad impression on me when he came here and had a fight with Dante.
We both stopped when we met halfway. He was all dressed up ready to leave which was a surprise since I told one of Dante’s men to tell the guest he was more than free to stay here.
Vassily was eyeing me as if he wanted to say something to me but I refused to initiate a conversation. Just as I readied myself to continue to walk, he stopped me by speaking.
“May we take a walk?”
I frowned at his politeness but I nodded anyway and succumbed to his request. I took him to our garden where I usually take my morning and afternoon walks. Dante convinced me to start exercising a bit so he’d accompany in the garden and sometimes anywhere outside the mansion.
“You know…” He starts. “I don’t get what he sees in you. I don’t get why he chose you over his family. He was already known as the king of the mafia. It was his uncle’s legacy to him. Sol is a name already widely known in the mafia. Everyone fears and adores him… yet he chose this ordinary life over glory. I know a lot of things about Angelo… but not stupid.” He halts making me stop as well.
“I don’t get why you’re his friend either.” He narrowed his eyes at me, annoyance shown. “You might know a lot about him but not the rest. Not all of it.”
“And you think you do?” He retorted.
“I don’t… but I got the rest of our lives willing to know the real him. And I will accept him whoever he is and whatever he wants to be because he has done nothing but love me. I don’t think I have a reason to not return his love at all.”
I took a step closer towards him as I had the air of challenging him. “That’s why if he does think he doesn’t belong here, I will let him go because that’s his decision. I’m not gonna stop him. I will respect it. But if he wants to stay here with me and love me and his flesh blood for the rest of our lives then you have no say on that. You will not decide for him. Because who are you really to him? A friend?” I scoff. “What kind? One who couldn’t even support his happiness?”
He scowled but he never spoke back. He remained silent as he stared at each other eye to eye. I could see the wheels turning in his mind.
The space I willed to have for Dante and I managed to let me think and the thought brought me to this decision. I don’t want to be selfish and I certainly want to consider Dante’s feelings. If he wants to go, I will not force him to stay. But if he wants to be with me then I’ll gladly accept it.
His mouth opened as he started to speak but he was interrupted. “Vassily! What the fuck are you doing with my wife?!” Dante stomped his way towards us. He was furious and I don’t think the look he was giving will recognize a friend.
Vassily slowly stepped back while raising both of his hands in surrender. Dante stomped his way towards him grabbing his collar threateningly.
“I allowed you to insult me but not her, Vassily. I will not allow you to hurt her.” He growled.
I stared at the both of them in alarm. I was looking around for help when I saw Leo coming his way. He began to run when he saw me behind the two.
“Let go. I was only talking to her.” Vassily’s voice surprisingly didn’t sound oppressive like he used to when he first came here. He was now calm and seemed accepting. But Dante didn’t budge and only held on to his grip on his collar.
“Angelo!” Leo intervened. “Let go.” He tried to uncoil his hand but Dante didn’t relent. “Angelo.” He muttered lowly. He then nodded towards my direction.
Dante slowly turned to me and saw me in my uneasy state. His hands then finally let go of Vassily. He stepped back from him with a sigh as Dante slowly walked towards me. As he reached me, he immediately engulfed me with a hug. I succumbed to his warmth.
“I love you. I love you so much, amore. Don’t ignore me ever again.”
I felt his worries and affection for me altogether and all other mixed emotions. I closed my eyes as I breathed in his scent. I love his scent so much. It truly felt like home. It was something that makes me wish to stay in bed with him as we ignore our responsibilities. Being with him is enough.
I realized that I love him. I love him. No more words or actions of his could convince me anymore.
“Tch. You’ve gone soft, Angelo.” Vassily voiced out.
I heard Leo chuckled behind. “I guess you still don’t know much about Angelo, fratello mio. He had always long for this.”
Dante and I released ourselves from our hug and finally faced them together. His arm went around me showing his possessiveness, affection and support.
“I truly love her, Vassily. I don’t need you to understand that but instead… I hope someday you will feel what I feel towards a woman who deserves it.”
His friend only rolled his eyes. “Well, good luck then… brother.” He then turned and finally left.
Leo let out a soft smile. “I’m happy for you two. I hope you know that.”
“Thank you, Leo.” I returned his smile and he nodded. And when I looked up, Dante’s face was serious.
“Amore, can you go inside first?” His face softened as he spoke to me. I nodded, understanding his intentions.
