Part 50 # What Happened to Seno?
That afternoon, Lara tried to continue her work as usual when Seno was not around. However, she felt something unusual.
“Melati, could you please wake up my husband?” she asked Melati, who was near the stairs. Lara wanted to go upstairs, but suddenly her legs hurt.
“Oh, yes, Ma’am,” Melati said as she walked away to the upper floor.
Melati seemed to knock on the door, but Seno didn’t respond.
“Sir, excuse me,” Melati called out.
Silence.
It seemed as if no one was inside the room.
“Sir….” Melati continued knocking on Seno’s door, but it was still quiet, with no response from behind the door as usual.
“I’m going to open it, Sir.”
Melati then entered Seno’s room. She was shocked to find Seno lying there with foam at his mouth.
“Ma’am! Ma’am Lara! Mr. Seno!”
Lara was shocked to hear Melati’s shout. “What’s wrong, Mela?” she asked as she rushed to the second floor.
“Sir, Ma’am!” Melati repeated, pointing to Seno lying on his bed.
“Oh, my goodness!” Lara screamed and was confused about what to do. In all her life, she had never seen Seno lying like that. “Call an ambulance, Mela!” she ordered quickly.
Lara immediately went to Seno and checked his pulse. He was still breathing.
“The ambulance will arrive soon, Ma’am!” Mela said. Lara nodded. But then, Seno’s body began to shake. He seemed to be dying and waiting for death!
“Oh, no!” Lara quickly grabbed a pillowcase to put it in his mouth, hoping Seno wouldn’t bite his tongue.
“Melati! Help me!” she panicked. Melati seemed about to cry but tried to continue helping. Lara felt the same way, but she couldn’t be weak. Seno’s safety depended on her. She had to be strong and try to help him as much as she could.

Shortly afterward, the ambulance arrived. The medical team immediately took Seno to their vehicle.
“Hurry! Hurry!” shouted one of the officers.
“Please, Sir. Save my husband,” Lara pleaded.
“Calm down, Ma’am. We will try our best,” replied one of the officers, trying to calm her down.
Lara nodded as she wiped her tears. Melati accompanied her to see Seno until he disappeared from view.
“Melati, let’s follow them.”
Lara immediately took her car and followed the ambulance. She didn’t want Seno to have difficulty with more passengers in that cramped car.
“Melati, come on!” she urged.
“Yes, Ma’am!”
Finally, Melati followed Lara. They followed behind the ambulance to the nearest hospital: Andromeda Hospital.
Throughout the journey, Lara hoped Seno would receive the right treatment. Although her heart was very anxious and wondered, what actually happened to him?
“Seno….” she muttered as she continued driving at a moderate speed. She couldn’t be weak. She had to be strong.
“Ma’am, why is Mr. Seno like that, Ma’am?” Melati was also worried. Lara didn’t have the answer either.
“I don’t know, Mel. Let’s pray that he’ll be okay,” Lara said, trying to calm both Melati’s and her own heart.
After a while, they finally arrived at Andromeda Hospital. Lara immediately parked her car and went to the emergency room to find Seno and take care of the necessary administrative matters.
“How is my husband, Doctor?” she asked when a doctor passed by the room.
“Sorry, Ma’am. Please ask the patient at the reception,” he said before walking away. He seemed busy, so he had to run. Lara was still looking for Seno’s whereabouts in the room.
“Miss, the patient named Seno. He just arrived, he’s the patient with foam at his mouth,” she explained the name and condition. Perhaps the staff didn’t know Seno or the medical team hadn’t officially registered him there yet.
“The patient with foam at the mouth? This way, Ma’am,” the officer then led her to a room at the end of the south side of the room. All the rooms had partitions, so Lara couldn’t disturb and barge into any room.
“Thank you, Miss.”
Lara was grateful that Seno’s location was finally found. But the atmosphere there didn’t seem supportive.
“Please wait in the waiting room, Ma’am! You cannot be here!” a doctor with glasses scolded her.
“But, Doctor. I want to see my husband!” she insisted, though also half afraid.
“You’re disturbing our work. Please obey the hospital rules!” he said, pushing her away, though not rudely or to the point of making her fall.
“For a moment, she could see the doctors who were treating Seno. Apparently, they were really busy and also in an extremely tense atmosphere.
“Okay,” Without wanting to make everything more complicated, Lara finally left. She waited for news about Seno in the waiting room as recommended. There, Melati was already sitting in the waiting chair.
“Ma’am, how is it?” Melati asked when she saw Lara stepping away from the door.
“I don’t know yet, Mela. They’re still doing their best,” Lara said listlessly.
Melati also bowed her head in sadness, like Lara. They were truly immersed in bad thoughts without clarity. Good news had not yet come.
“What do you think, Ma’am, about Mr. Seno? Is it usually like this?” Melati continued trying to chat with Lara, although she didn’t have the answer Melati wanted.
“Mela, I’ve never seen Seno sick like this before. I’m also very panicked. I don’t know how… suddenly he’s like that.”
Melati nodded in understanding.
Lara stared into space.
Suddenly, she remembered the last activity they did: almost having intercourse. Was that the problem? Impossible! Seno had often done it before, and he was fine. What’s wrong with him?
Unconsciously, tears began to wet Lara’s cheeks. Apparently, all her thoughts collapsed with those tears.
“Ma’am….” Melati held Lara’s hand. Lara was even surprised by her body’s response.
“I’m okay, Mela. *Sob*….”
These tears continued to flood Lara’s face. She was so embarrassed.
“Be patient, Ma’am,” Melati encouraged her. Lara nodded while still crying. She didn’t know why, but these tears kept bothering her. The fear of losing loved ones overwhelmed her again. She remembered the last day she was with her mother.
Her mother.
The hospital was the last place she met her mother. At that time, her mother’s lifeless body was so heartbreaking. Lara was so scared that event would happen again in front of her eyes. Her stomach became very painful, and she was stressed thinking about it!
“Ow….” The pain in her stomach attacked her.
“Ma’am!” Melati was surprised and tried to calm Lara down. “Ma’am, what’s wrong?”
“Ow, I don’t know. My stomach suddenly hurts,” Lara whispered as she held her growing belly. “Wait a moment, Ma’am! I’ll get you some warm tea, okay?”
“Y-yes….”
Soon, Melati’s back looked away. Lara still grimaced, enduring the pain that hit her stomach. “You’re smart, dear,” she whispered to her unborn child. She didn’t want him to also be fussy when his father was dying in there.
