Chapter 24
After leaving the restaurant, Stephen drove for a long time and stopped in front of a children’s amusement park.
He pulled Nancy inside, not forgetting to take the camera with him, and kept talking.
“Nancy, let’s come in here and play for a bit and then go home. Forget about unhappy things, don’t let yourself be sad for too long.”
“Okay.” She replied softly.
Although this is a park for children, adults come in large numbers, and couples also use this as a date spot. The space is filled with shimmering, magical electric light.
Stephen held Nancy’s hand and crept into the bustling crowd.
“Nancy, let’s play the merry-go-round.” Stephen spoke up.
“That’s for children to play with.” Nancy said shyly.
“You don’t look any different than a child, please climb up.” As he spoke, he pushed her closer to the merry-go-round.
Fortunately, there were a few more couples also playing the merry-go-round, so Nancy didn’t feel too embarrassed.
After finishing the round, she noticed that outside, Stephen was holding a camera towards her.
Leaving the merry-go-round, Stephen took Nancy to other game booths and showed off his talent for picking up animals.
The stuffed animal hung loosely on the crane, falling every time it got close. The more enthusiastic Nancy cheered, the more Stephen couldn’t concentrate, causing the stuffed animal to keep falling back and forth.
The children impatiently waited for him to finish playing so they could play. Their parents were equally impatient.
Nancy saw this and immediately urged Stephen to leave. In the end, he couldn’t get any, so he went to the stuffed animal stall and bought a huge teddy bear to give to her.
As soon as the car arrived at the gate, Stephen quickly got out and opened the back door, then held out the teddy bear. Nancy took it, smiling brightly.
“Thank you, deputy general director, I was very happy today.”
“Keep up the good work. By this day, what happened yesterday will be in the past. I don’t want to see you cry anymore.” He winked and said softly.
“Just that once.” She shyly bowed her head.
“In the future, call me by name, don’t call me deputy general director anymore, we are friends.” His face frowned slightly.
“I know, thank you, Stephen.” She nodded slightly and agreed.
“That’s right. Go inside the house, good night.”
Stephen smiled with satisfaction and returned to the driver’s seat, pressing the accelerator.
Waiting for the car to completely disappear, Nancy raised her hand to look for the key, but she suddenly saw that the gate was unlocked and only ajar.
She sighed, thinking that she was less than thirty years old but was absent-minded and forgot to lock the door when she went to work.
She is afraid that one day a thief will break into her house and clean it so much that there won’t even be a rice cooker left.
Nancy had just put the teddy bear on the steps and turned to lock the gate when suddenly she was pulled back by an arm. The movement was so fast that she had no time to react.
The figure of a tall man suddenly stood in front of her, holding her tightly with both hands, pressing her against the wall.
Before Nancy had time to regain consciousness, the man’s face was close, his breath carrying the scent of Pinot Noir red wine blowing on her face, making her stutter.
“You… Mr. Dylan, what are you doing? Why did you come to my house?”
“Are you going on a date with Stephen?” Dylan frowned and asked.
“Right.” Nancy blurted out in response. She saw the red blood streaks in his eyes.
“Where am I not as good as him?”
“He is the deputy general director. Why don’t you look back at yourself? You’re just an assistant.”
“Do you choose a man for yourself based on family background and status?”
“Yes.”
“Okay. I will be a good candidate, so don’t rush into making a decision.”
Dylan slowly let go of Nancy’s hand, smiled faintly, turned around, walked straight out the gate, got into the car, and drove away.
The car had left a long time ago but Nancy still hadn’t regained her composure, her whole body was leaning against the wall, her heart was now jumping non-stop, and her breathing was gradually becoming labored.
She doesn’t want to become a third party, insert herself into Rosalind’s relationship, and then bring trouble to herself. Now she just wants each day to pass peacefully.
Although at first, Nancy had temporary feelings towards him because she saw that he had some familiar features like Nathan, she knew that it was not love.
After bringing the teddy bear inside and placing it on the bed, Nancy sighed again.
Suddenly she felt very worried about her fate. She secretly thought that if she kept following Stephen, she would be safe, after all, he was the deputy general manager.
Even though Dylan is rich, he must respect Stephen and stay away from his superior’s girlfriend.
Nancy reassured herself like that and then quickly ran to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and got mineral water to drink to calm down.
Seeing that the apple on Christmas Eve was still intact, she reached out to take it out, thought for a moment, and then threw it in the trash.
Early in the morning, as soon as Nancy set foot in the office, what caught her eye was a huge bouquet of roses. It seems that Stephen did not keep his word and brought flowers here again.
She turned to the petite girl who was attentively typing on the keyboard, smiled slightly, and asked.
“Donna, did you see who gave me flowers?”
“He is a very handsome guy. He is equally handsome as Stephen. Nancy, I admire you so much.”
Hearing Donna speak, Nancy’s eyes immediately narrowed, and a feeling of insecurity crept throughout her body.
She reached for the card and opened it, seeing Dylan’s name written inside.
