Chapter 12 Do You Feel Aggrieved Being With Me?
Damien replied coldly, “No.”
Clarissa was slightly disappointed to hear that answer, but she dared not ask further.
After all, she was a mere intern. Damien would not concern himself with her status.
Suddenly, a sound came from her phone. She picked it up and took a look.
Someone was requesting to follow her on Instagram. That person’s username was “josephmoore”.
Clarissa was not acquainted with that person, so she ignored it.
There were too many online scammers.
“I’m going to sleep first.”
After speaking, she turned off the bedside lamp while feeling flustered and ducked under the blanket.
The room was quite cold because of the air conditioner. Laying under the silk blanket was very
comfortable.
Damien did not even turn his head and just replied softly, “Okay.”
He seemed to be occupied with work.
Clarissa buried her face in the blanket, only showing her deer-like eyes. She secretly observed
Damien.
Her gaze unintentionally swept across his face. His outline was sharp and he looked distant.
In fact, his face did not look like Zach’s at all. They only looked a tiny bit similar when he smiled.
Still, Damien rarely smiled. Clarissa did not know why she mistook him for Zach on that day.
Upon thinking about Zach Stevens, she felt upset. It was truly awful when he passed away.
Clarissa hid her head under the blanket and silently shed tears.
At the same time, she started sniffling.
“Do you feel aggrieved being with me?” Damien’s calm voice could be heard.
“That’s not it.”
Clarissa’s voice was muffled by the blanket.
“Then why are you crying?” Damien asked again.
“I‘m just homesick.”
Clarissa gave a half-hearted answer. Then, she turned her back toward him to sleep.
Damien did not ask further questions.
Although Clarissa wanted to sleep, she could not.
A picture on the bedside table attracted her attention.
She picked it up. There was a young woman in the picture. Even though it was covered in dust, the
woman was obviously charming. She was probably around Clarissa’s age.
Clarissa flipped the frame over. She saw two words written behind it and read them out softly,
“Madelynn York.”
Suddenly, she recalled something. That night when they had sex, was Damien calling out this name?
Was she Damien’s first love?
“Put it down. Don’t touch it!”
Damien’s cold voice rang out all of a sudden.
Clarissa trembled. The photo frame in her hands fell to the ground by the bed.
Damien leaned over to pick it up. He accidentally pressed against Clarissa.
This caused her breath to quicken instantly. Her chest rose and fell.
She was startled.
Damien simply picked up the photo frame and stuffed it into a drawer. At that moment, he was still lying
on top of Clarissa.
Just as Clarissa was panicking, Damien suddenly turned off the lights.
Did he want to have sex?
Hints of intimacy swiftly filled the air. It felt like something was about to be triggered at any moment.
Clarissa bit the bullet and said, “President Lawrence, I want to remain at New East Corporation. Please
have a word with the human resource department.”
Those words were not a request, but a fair exchange between the two of them. She was basically
implying, ‘I know that you desire sex right now. I’ll do it, but there’s a condition. Let me stay in New East
Corporation.’
Clarissa knew the right of interpretation belonged to Damien. However, he never wrote about sex in the
agreement. Besides, he did not give a clear answer when she asked about it earlier.
Since Clarissa needed money and a job, she took advantage of the timing to make her request.
“Are you threatening me?” Damien’s husky, low voice rang by her ear.
Clarissa answered, “No. It’s because I’m confident that I did well.”
Damien did not reply at all. He lowered his head and started kissing her neck.
His arm caressed her soft chest. It made Clarissa remember her first time.
Her whole body felt tingly.
Before this, she was alert. Now, everything was hazy. She said, “What do you think, President
Lawrence?”
Damien was on top of her. He saw her reddened eyes. She looked adorable, yet wild, like a desperate
rabbit.
His grandfather told him not to bully her because she was younger by eight years.
With that thought, the anger in Damien’s heart became less intense. His hand caressed Clarissa’s cold
cheek. “What’s your boyfriend’s name?”
