Love At The Wrong Table

Love at the 1973

What to do? Roselynn’s mind raced as she tried to think of a way out. She

didn’t want to escalate the situation, but it seemed like Gwain was running

out of patience.

Gwain spoke up, his tone cold and dismissive. “We’re friends of Miss Roselynn,

and we’re going to a very important place. You’re in the way–get lost!”

“Oh, I get it now!” Shane exclaimed, his eyes narrowing as he pieced things

together. “You’ve been keeping Roselynn hostage, haven’t you? That’s why

she hasn’t been able to contact us!”

Roselynn sighed inwardly. So much for trying to handle this peacefully. She

still forced a smile and tried to give Shane a hint. “Shane, go back and tell

Emmanuel that I’m fine. There’s no need to look for me anymore.”

Her words were meant to signal him to get help, but Shane, as usual, missed

the hint. Instead, he grew more agitated. “Roselynn, why would you tell Manny

to stop looking for you? He’s been going crazy trying to find you all over the

city!”

At this, Gwain gave Hank a look, signaling him to take action. Hank grinned

darkly. “Well, since you’ve figured it out, you’re not going anywhere either,” he

said, and with a quick motion, he struck Shane with a powerful blow.

Shane, though trained in martial arts, was no match for someone like Hank.

With one swift attack, he was sent tumbling across the ground, rolling over

several times before coming to a stop.

“Ah!” Sonia, who had just caught up, screamed in fear, ducking behind a tree.

She was terrified but also realized that they had just found Emmanuel’s sister.

I need to get in touch with him! But I don’t have his number. In desperation,

she dialed her father, hoping he could help.

“Shane!” Roselynn cried, rushing over to prevent Hank from delivering another

blow. She turned to Gwain, her voice pleading. “Mr. Gwain, didn’t you want me

to recite the Dragon Tome for you? I remember now! Let’s find a quiet place

where I can recite it.”

Hank paused, looking to Gwain for instructions. Gwain considered her offer

but then made a chilling gesture across his throat. “Leave the fat one alive.

He’ll go running straight to Emmanuel anyway.”

Roselynn’s heart sank, fear chilling her to the bone.

Shane, despite being shaken from the hit, suddenly burst into laughter. “Oh, I

get it! So, you’re Gwain Lannister, huh? And you call yourself the strongest?

Please! You’re unfit to even lick the soles of his shoes!”

Gwain’s eyes flashed with murderous intent at the insult. Shane, noticing the

shift, quickly changed tactics. “Don’t believe me? Let me run back and bring

Manny here. Then, you two can settle this once and for all!”

Shane spun around, trying to flee. He knew he couldn’t save Roselynn on his

own, but if he could get back to Emmanuel, there might still be hope.

Gwain’s cold laughter echoed through the garden. “Don’t mention that piece

of trash, Emmanuel. He isn’t even worthy of carrying my shoes!”

The taunt fell flat, as Gwain had no respect for the Grandmaster of Nuthana.

With a swift motion, he unleashed a powerful strike aimed directly at Shane,

ready to end him then and there.

“Shane!” both Roselynn and Sonia screamed in terror. Neither of them had

the strength or skill to help, and they could only watch helplessly.

Meanwhile, back at the Toma Residence, Denis burst into the room where

Emmanuel was on a video call with Mackenzie. “Mr. Lowe, we’ve found your

sister!”

“What?” Emmanuel jumped to his feet, his heart racing.

On the other end of the call, Mackenzie, still in her office in Yeringham, let out

a small sigh of relief. She had been just as worried about Roselynn as

Emmanuel. After all, aside from their child, Roselynn was the only family

Emmanuel had left. With the recent losses of Sarah and Alessandra,

Emmanuel had already endured more pain than anyone should have. If

something happened to Roselynn, Mackenzie feared for his sanity.

“Where is she?” Emmanuel asked, his voice tense with urgency.

“At Magnolia Theater, about 15 minutes from here!” Denis reported quickly.

“My daughter and your junior found her. It seems she’s being held by Gwain

Lannister and his men.”

“Gwain Lannister?” Emmanuel frowned. He had never crossed paths with

Gwain before, but he knew his reputation. The idea that this so–called martial

arts genius was holding his sister was infuriating.

“Let’s go!” Emmanuel barked, his eyes filled with determination. Whoever had

his sister would pay dearly.

Denis wasted no time. “I’ll get the car ready immediately,” he said, rushing off

to make arrangements. Despite being the patriarch of the Toma family, he

willingly assisted Emmanuel at every turn.
