Chapter 1213: The Ancient Tomb
Chapter 1213: The Ancient Tomb
Wave after wave of attacks weakened the barrier. The light on the barrier grew dimmer, indicating it was about to break. Seeing this, Chris Shelby shouted, "The barrier is about to break, everyone, give it one last push!"
Hearing Chris Shelby's words, everyone took a deep breath and launched their strongest attacks. Their combined efforts struck the barrier.
Boom!
With a thunderous sound, the barrier finally shattered. The massive shockwave caused the entire passage to tremble, and countless stones fell from above. The passage shook violently, seemingly on the verge of collapse at any moment. But soon, the passage calmed down, and everyone panted heavily.
The barrier was finally broken, meaning they could now enter the tomb chamber. Entering the tomb chamber would bring them one step closer to the Dragon Emblem fragment. Smiles appeared on everyone's faces. Many collapsed to the ground, exhausted.
However, Chris Shelby, Peterson Abernathy, Tiger, and Devil's Frown were not significantly affected due to their immense strength. They were practitioners from the Transcendence realm, far stronger than ordinary people.
After a moment, everyone regained their strength. Even those who hadn't fully recovered didn't want to waste any more time with the tomb chamber right in front of them. Peterson Abernathy glanced at the passage ahead and said, "The tomb chamber is just ahead; let's move quickly!"
Chris Shelby smiled and said, "Mr. Abernathy is right; let's go together!" However, both Chris Shelby and Peterson Abernathy knew very well that greater dangers were likely hidden within the tomb chamber.
At this moment, everyone understood that whoever walked in front had a better chance of seizing the Dragon Emblem fragment but would also face more dangers. Chris Shelby and Peterson Abernathy exchanged glances and walked side by side into the passage towards the tomb chamber.
But upon reaching the tomb chamber, everyone widened their eyes in shock.
"Is this Victor Yellowbird's tomb? How is this possible?" The scene before them stunned everyone! Instead of a tomb chamber, they found an underground world. This underground world had mountains and water. Luminous stones illuminated everything brightly.
Tiger couldn't help but mutter, "Boss, is this an illusion?"
Chris Shelby examined their surroundings with a serious expression and said, "This shouldn't be an illusion!"
Hearing this, everyone's expressions changed. They had clearly been walking through an underground passage but emerged into such a place. Most thought it was an illusion, but only Chris Shelby knew it wasn't.
Tiger asked in astonishment, "If this isn't an illusion? Is there another world underground? That's impossible!"
Chris Shelby explained, "The underground is like the surface; they are two independent worlds. I once read a book called 'Underground Adventure,' which recorded that the underground world is similar to the surface world with mountains, water, plants, and animals! It's just that ordinary people can't access it."
In this underground world stood a grand palace complex surrounded by numerous passages like a maze. These palaces bore ancient markings unlike any ordinary palace.
Chris Shelby took a closer look and
thought these palaces resembled the ancient Ivory Palace built in ancient times and said to be magnificent until it was destroyed in war. But this palace looked almost identical to what was described in history books.
Apart from the grand palaces, there were mountains and water all around. Seeing this made Chris Shelby's eyes narrow! He suddenly recalled historical records about Ivory Palace mentioning similar surroundings.
But this wasn't where Ivory Palace was located! What was going on? For a moment, many questions filled Chris Shelby's mind.
Peterson Abernathy's eyes gleamed with excitement as he muttered to himself, "Is this Victor Yellowbird's tomb? No, these palaces are clearly from ancient times! Could it be that besides Ivory Palace there was another tomb as recorded in
history?"
As descendants of a former royal family, the Abernathy family knew many historical secrets. If those records were true...
In an instant, greed flashed in Peterson Abernathy's eyes. He waved his hand and said, "Let's move!"
The Abernathy family members followed him closely. After they left, Tiger and others looked at Chris Shelby.
Chris Shelby watched Peterson Abernathy's departing figure and sneered, "That old guy is quite eager; let's go too!"
With that said, Chris Shelby led Tiger and others towards the grand palace.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As they approached, loud rumbling sounds echoed. Chris Shelby couldn't help but look over. He saw Peterson Abernathy and his group attacking the palace gates. Bang!
With a loud bang, they broke open the palace gates and entered inside.
Chris Shelby led his group to follow them closely!
Moments later they reached the palace walls only to find its massive gates shattered into pieces revealing darkness within making it impossible to see what lay ahead.
Without hesitation Chris Shelby
stepped inside first followed by his
companions whereupon he sighed
bitterly seeing six stone doors each
leading down different passages leaving him speechless wondering if it was yet another trap?
Tiger pointed excitedly at footprints on ground saying "Boss look these are Peterson Abernathy's footprints!"
Chris Shelby observed carefully confirming they indeed belonged to Peterson Abernathy's group but dared not act rashly knowing how perilous ancient tombs could be where one wrong step could mean death
