Chapter 12 Couldn’t Hide nor Escape
Chapter 12 Couldn’t Hide nor Escape
The journey from Gang City to Shenhai City wasn’t long, but the custom clearance was complicated. Belle Ye had been running all the way to the station, but she couldn’t enter because she didn’t have an ID. She was almost caught by the police. She was so frightened that she escaped from the crowd. Her face turned pale. She was dizzy. Finally, she slowly walked to the quiet corner and leaned against the wall.
She couldn’t leave Gang City without her ID.
There was no place for her in this city and now, she had no identity to prove that she was legal human being. Belle Ye smiled coldly. She was smiling either smiling at the world or at her foolish self.
She was still leaning against the alley and through the narrow gap, she could see another world full of hustle and bustle that had nothing to do with her. She looked like a dying spectator, coldly looking at the laughter of others. Her eyes were sour and the corner got wet. She looked up holding the tears back from falling. Her nose stung and pain built up in her throat but she couldn’t spit it out.
She heard a chaotic noise of footsteps coming closer and closer.
She stood straight up. After years of suffering, she never let her guard down. She immediately ran to the other end of the alley, but she didn’t ran fast. Her knee ached. Running for her felt like hammering a nail to her knees. The pain was appalling.
The pain stopped her at first, but she got used to it that she basically managed to run at the same speed as others. However, her body felt like burning and her head was dizzy. She ran past some shadows, but she was not sure. She was running out of strength and her pace became slower. She rushed to the street and stopped a taxi.
The driver was startled and suddenly hit the brake. He leaned his head out of the window and spat at her, “Are you mad? Use your eyes when you’re walking! Do you want to die, Miss?”
She ignored the driver’s nagging and patted the window urgently, “Let me in!”
The driver looked at her suspiciously, “The taxi is overload.”
Where did this crazy woman come from?
Belle Ye was in a hurry. She could hear the footsteps was approaching her from behind. She didn’t have time to talk nonsense. She hurriedly took two hundred Yuan from her pocket and gave the money to the driver. Her face was full of fear, “Here. Take it. Let me in.” she dashed to the back seat while ignoring the driver’s disdainful eyes, “Go!”
“Did you do something to make someone chase after you?” the driver was accustomed to this kind of scene, but he just couldn’t help asking. Since he paid him money to help her escape, he hurriedly started the engine and hit the pedal gas. The car rushed forward like a flying arrow.
Belle Ye did not reply.
She clenched her fists and let her palm sweat. Her dark eyes wavered from side to side.
When the driver made a sharp turn, Belle Ye swung from her seat and immediately gathered her wits, “What… what happened?”
“Good God! What kind of people do you provoke? These people are savages!” the driver was scared. He started to sweat. He saw the woman huddled up through the rearview. He looked up front and made his decision, “I can’t help you. Here, take your money back.”
He took the money and threw it at her. Before she could reply, the driver stopped at an intersection. He got off the car and opened the back door. He grabbed the cold and trembling Belle Ye out of the car.
“What do you want? Let me get inside the car and I will give you whatever you want!” she didn’t expect to trade off, but with her trembling hands, she gave him all of her money, “Please, let me get inside the
car. I beg you!”
She was inarticulate and incoherent. Her throat was burning and sore.
The driver was reluctant to refuse the money. He gritted his teeth and rushed into the car slamming the door before her face.
The money was tempting, but he chose not to risk it.
He was a veteran driver. He knew there were mafias in the city who wouldn’t hold back killing people. If he was not careful, he would provoke them. He couldn’t afford the trouble.
Belle Ye was left halfway by the driver.
She was in a highway and the traffic past at high speed. Belle Ye crouched between the grass on the roadside. She huddled up and lowered her head hoping to merge with the tall grasses.
Several black Land Rovers sped by and stopped in front of her. Barry Mo got off the car and saw the woman who was desperately trying to hide in the grasses.
He saw her for the first time in five years.
If one of his man hadn’t called for a stop, he would’ve miss her here.
“Miss Ye, how are you?” Barry Mo walked toward her. His tone was flat carrying no emotion.
Belle Ye was still trying to hide. She dared not look up.
She thought that by hiding here, these people would think that she was taken away by the taxi, but she expect them to stop.
Barry Mo noticed that she wouldn’t answer. He said, “I’ll take you back, Miss.”
He tried to grab her, but Belle Ye shrugged his hands off her and shouted, “Don’t touch me!”
Barry Mo didn’t expect that she would resist. Belle Ye went mad and scratched his face with her fingers. She jumped and screamed like a crazy woman. She managed to push him away and rushed to the highway.
He stared at her in horror and hurriedly chased her at the highway.
Belle Ye didn’t know what she was doing, but she knew Barry Mo. this man was no different from his boss. She was afraid of him and she had to run away.
As long as she could escape, it didn’t matter where she went.
She ran fast without hesitation.
Suddenly, a strong force from under the wheel of heavy truck pulled her back. The heavy truck roared past her and the strong wind almost sucked her in. Belle Ye’s eyes widened and her body stiffened.
“It’s too cheap to let you die under the wheel!” someone shouted at her.
Her face turned pale and her brain was muddled. Every cell in her body was clamoring for fear. A cold wind wrapped her. She staggered for a moment and collapsed to the ground.
