Chapter 0088

Miranda frowned at his confidence. Before she could say anything, a voice rang out. “Miranda?”

Calvin had been eating nearby. When he walked past, he was surprised to see Sam and Miranda together through the glass window.

They were at a café. It was undeniable that this was a common dating spot for couples.

At first, he thought that he had been seeing things. But to his shock, it was really them!

Truth be told, although Calvin was taken aback that Sam would catch feelings for his best friend’s ex- girlfriend, it wasn’t something that he couldn’t accept. After all, Sam had done even more radical things in the past.

However, Calvin never thought that Miranda would ever be receptive to him.

His gaze flitted between the two people. He wore a complicated look on his face, wanting to say something but not knowing where to start.

Miranda forced a smile and temporarily pushed away her intention to continue the conversation. After greeting Calvin, she left.

The moment she left, Calvin slid into her seat. He looked at Sam and said, “Hey, are you for real?”

“What do you mean, am I for real?” Sam leisurely took a sip of his coffee.

“I don’t think Miranda will be able to accept you.”

Sam paused and set down his cup. “Why do you say that?

His sudden seriousness made Calvin feel a little apprehensive. “Well, there are two reasons. First of all, you’re not her type. And second of all, nothing will ever happen between you two because of your relationship with Hans.”

Sam wasn’t exactly a catch, and Miranda was picky too.

“On that topic,” Calvin continued, suddenly leaning close and lowering his voice, “tell me, since when did you start having feelings for Miranda?”

Sam stared out the window indifferently. After taking a small sip of his drink, he finally spoke. “It was a long time ago. Probably not long after she started dating Hans.”

“Damn, you’re a monster!” Calvin gritted his teeth, thinking that Sam was really shameless. “You’ve been coveting your best friend’s girlfriend!”

Sam smiled coldly. “Did I ever make any moves when they were together? Now that they’ve split, am I not allowed to act on my feelings?

“But you caught feelings a long time ago. That’s wrong!”

Sam snorted. “Didn’t you and Zach have a crush on the same girl in high school?”

Calvin choked. “I–I didn’t know any better at the time! Not just that, it’s not like I can control who I like-

So you think I can?

Since Hansel didn’t know how to appreciate Miranda, then someone would naturally take his place.

Moreover, he never tried to steal her away. Instead, he had waited until now to make any moves. He was already being considerate of their relationship.

Now, he was just going after what he wanted.

Seeing his stubbornness, Calvin scratched his head and tried to offer some advice. “Well… why don’t you just give up? You know what Miranda’s temperament is like. It won’t be enjoyable if you force it.”

Hansel had already burned bridges with Sam. On that day itself, he had said some harsh words and cut him off completely. Not to mention, he said that he never wanted to be in the same room as Sam ever again.

The people in their circle didn’t dare to comment on this. They were afraid of getting dragged into the conflict if they said something wrong.

The reason for their bad blood had also become a hot topic.

Some said that their partnership had broken down over unfair profit distribution. Others guessed that their families‘ relationship had become strained, and they had no choice but to turn against each other out of pressure from their elders.

Some even said it was because they fought over a bargirl…

It was the final conjecture that drew the most discussions.

Calvin remained tight–lipped. If anyone asked, he would just laugh it off.
