Chapter 35: The twelve and the Imp
Chapter 35: The twelve and the Imp
"What track next?"
One of the twelve men asked. None was the leader. The leader thingy seemed not to be working for
any of them. They had been through the noise and the odds and the fight and the all. Twas time to get
things the right way if they were ever going to make any progress.
"I suggest we keep trailing this. Where else could we possibly take?"
Another one asked. He looked at the first guy who had spoken. He wasn't a fan of his but they were
obviously not there to figure out there differences. They were there for their leader who had been
abducted by the fucking monster.
"I'm feeling terribly hot."
Another of the guys said. The first guy who had spoken ate the third guy up with a fiery ogle.
"Hot indeed."
He muttered to him. The third seemed to had heard him and walked up straight to him.
"Now I have no right to tell how I feel?"
He shot at the first guy. The first guy measured him up and chuckled into his large nose.
"What matters now is not what's right to you but what's right to us. When we are worried about what
road next to take you're worried about being hot or something. How caged is your thought. If you were
the one in the wild, abducted by the monster, would you had even been able to think of that word let
alone use it? Hot!"
He said, messing his face up to emphasize the strength of his mockery. The third guy looked away for
some whiles and said,
"If you've been so concerned about your life like you are about someone else's, you'd probably not be
squatting with your grandparents. Retarded failure making allusion. "
No sooner the third guy quit talking than the first guy held until his neck in a bid to choke. He planted
two of the punches in his face and the remaining fellows tried to separate.
The odds went on and on for some while before they were separated. Then one of the guys who
seemed to be the youngest of them said,
"Let's not talk about our differences now. All that matters now is saving our leader. If not saving him, at
least tracing if there's anything that could identify him or even a skull or even his corpse. No one
wishes that but some things are just beyond us. I don't want to hear anyone fighting anymore."
He stopped talking. There was peace and quiet for a while.
Then the first guy shook himself free from the hold of the two guys by him. He walked to the guy who
had just finished speaking,
"Who made you the judge here?"
He dared. The fellow only smiled and walked backwards a little bit.
Then he turned to the other guys and said,
"Let's walk on. We might have a clue."
The first guy felt smothered at that reaction but there was little he could do. The fellows looked at him
and away and began to walk down the path the young guy was plying.
Then at once, they heard a thud behind them. As they turned. They saw the monster snarling, its sticky
mouth dripping fluid.
They scrambled off and began to run away. Even though they had spears in their hands, the courage to
use it wasn't there.
