Chapter 15
Benjamin's Annoyance
Benjamin remained silent with a poker face.
Seeing him like this, Lauren hesitated. She really didn't want to have any problems or quarrels with Benjamin. After all, it was a crucial time for him to divorce Harper.
But Lauren still wanted to see if he changed his mind.
She didn't get her hand off him. "Benjamin, stay here tonight, please. I want to spend more time with you. Just a night, okay?"
Benjamin looked indifferent. His eyes flickered with impatience. "Lauren, are you sure you want me to stay with you at this time? If any accident happens, public opinion will steer us towards controversy. I don't care, but you will be affected. My grandpa and my parents are still biased against you. Don't you want them to look at you totally differently?"
Lauren remained silent and finally compromised.
Although she was very reluctant to give up, she didn't want to annoy Benjamin.
Since Lauren woke up, no matter how late she called him, Benjamin would come to stay with her immediately, but he would never stay overnight. This made her particularly uneasy. If he really liked her, didn't he want to stay with her all the time?
However, she thought that Benjamin did this for her own good and to protect her reputation from being ruined.
...
After leaving the hospital, Benjamin drove to Fihige Club.
He and a few friends owned the club. It was very famous in Mayby. The customers inside were either rich or powerful.
Benjamin had an exclusive private room at Fihige Club. When he arrived, his friends were already there.
When he sat down, one of his friends immediately poured him wine and then asked, "What are you going to do after Lauren is discharged from the hospital?"
Benjamin lit a cigarette and smoked it. "When Lauren recovers, my marriage with Harper will come to an end. By then, I will marry her."
"Do you really want to divorce Harper?" The man who said this was Larry Ellison. He was the one who knew best how Benjamin and Harper got along. Obviously, the two of them still had affection for each other. When Harper looked at Benjamin, her eyes were full of love.
Benjamin nodded. "Yes. I've decided."
"Actually, I don't understand why you have no feelings to Harper. She is a beautiful woman, and you live together every day." Larry was a little curious.
The others joked, "Maybe Benjamin really loves Lauren, right?" They looked at Benjamin, who was smoking and drinking.
Benjamin looked lost, saying indifferently, "Maybe."
He frowned slightly, feeling a burst of annoyance in his chest. He blew out a smoke ring. The white smoke clouded around him, making it difficult to tell what he was thinking.
Harper's beautiful face came to Benjamin's mind. After one year of marriage, she had always been gentle and considerate. No matter what he did, she had never complained. But now she changed. She became indifferent and countered him.
Larry continued, "Perhaps choosing Lauren is just as well. After all, she almost lost her life for you. As for Harper, she is young, beautiful, and talented. It's easy for her to remarry. Oh, by the way, Frank, the man who is always by her side, seems to love her. If you are divorced, they will be together."
"Enough. Don't make fun of Harper. Even if she divorces me, she is still be a member of my family. I don't want to hear such a joke again."
Larry sighed, "Benjamin, that is the truth. If you are divorced, you are no longer a family."
