HER PARENTS
When they heard a series of doorbells, they both opened their eyes. Zachary had intended to continue what he and Samarra had begun by letting whoever was outside their door ring the doorbell. He washed his face and looked up at the ceiling when Samarra pushed him.
Damn! They ruin our precious moment.
“Cadden?! Can you please refrain from doing so? You’ll like the statue. Let’s go downstairs first because Mommy Lorraine is there.” Samarra stood up from her bed, irritated.
They were still staring at his phone when it began to ring. Samarra took his cellphone because she was close to the table.
“Who is that?” he inquired, intrigued.
Because Samarra’s gaze shifted from his cell phone to his, staring at him intently, causing him to frown.
“Love?”
“Oh, my goodness! Cadden, Mommy Lorraine is downstairs,” Samarra said in a daze as she threw the cell phone at him, which he immediately caught due to his quick reflexes.
“Relax, Love! Only Mommy is downstairs.”
He laughed as Samarra turned around and gave him a sharp look as if to say, “Not now!”
“Love,” he said as he drew her to the bed, his two arms around her waist, his head nuzzled into her neck.
“Love?! Please…. We will do this later. Let’s go downstairs, shall we? “Samarra said, attempting to remove his two arms wrapped around her waist; he let her stand because he was irritated. While looking at Samarra, he washed his face.
“Promise?” he asked, making Samarra’s face flush.
Damn! She’s cute.
“Cadden?!”
He forced himself to stand up by raising both hands. He sighed, wrapped his arms around his wife, and walked out of the room.
Zachary noticed his wife had stopped halfway up the stairs and was stunned as she looked at his face.
“Why?”
“Oh, my goodness!”
Samarra grabbed both of his cheeks and exaggerated.
“What?” he asked, grabbing Samarra’s hand and holding his face.
“I believe you should wash your face?” He frowned as Samarra said to him.
Why should he wash his face?
He shook his head before kissing Samarra on the lips.
“It’s not necessary; it’s my mother. Relax.”
He ignored Samarra’s words and proceeded down the stairs. As Samarra grabs his arm, he allegedly opens the door.
“I believe you should wear at least a t-shirt, Love. Take a look at yourself.”
He just smiled and ruffled Samarra’s hair, ignoring the objection on her face and continuing to open the door.
“Honey!!!!”
The lovely lady in front of him exclaimed happily, her hands outstretched. A man stood next to the woman, looking at him intently as he swallowed. While his parents and brother Zeke stood behind them, frowning and staring at him.
Holy cow!
If Zachary surprised the guests, his face surprised them even more. The woman’s smile faded as she burst out laughing. His parents and brother exchanged glances before laughing at him.
He smiled as he pondered what was going on.
“Mom, Dad?”
Samarra exclaimed, standing next to him and appeared to have recovered from the shock.
“Honey? What did you do to your husband?” Samarra’s mother asked softly, her gaze fixed on him as if something amusing was going on in his face.
Before turning to face him, Samarra hesitated to smile at her mother.
“I’m sorry,” she apologized.
He frowned even more because Samarra was apologizing for something he didn’t understand.
He hesitantly smiled at their guess and kissed Samarra’s mother’s cheek before blessing Samarra’s father, who was still staring at him.
Every time their gazes meet, he feels a strange nervousness, whether he admits it or not.
“Hello and good evening. Sir, Ma’am,” He greeted Samarra’s parents politely and bowed.
“Son, I believe you should go upstairs and fix yourself. Please accept my apologies for my daughter’s behavior.” Samarra’s father stated solemnly, tapping him on the shoulder and making him nervous.
“Sir, Ma’am-”
“It should be Dad and Mom,” Samarra’s father cut him off mid-sentence. He swallowed quickly, even though his throat was dry from nervousness. Samarra’s parents were the first to arrive, followed by her parents.
“Son, wash your face or, even better, take a bath first and dress decently, so your parents-in-law don’t say anything. Why are you only dressed in boxers?” Daddy Calvin, he said, patting him on the shoulder before passing him.
He sighed and scratched the back of his neck as if they were all expecting him to take a bath. He is aware that he does not stink because he showers before going to bed.
“Brother! I want to offer you some advice.” He frowned as he looked at his brother Zeke, who moved closer to his ear.
“Before leaving your room, check yourself in the mirror.”
Zachary’s gaze was drawn to his older brother, who was walking away from him.
He hurried up the stairs after all their guests had arrived because he wanted to see what he looked like. He knew it was inappropriate for him to confront Samarra’s parents while wearing only boxer shorts, but he also knew that was not why Samarra’s mother laughed.
He went to the bathroom as soon as he entered the room to check himself in the mirror.
Holy crap!!
That’s how surprised he was to see himself in the mirror. He was stunned as if bitten by a snake because he couldn’t move in the visible reflection.
He swallowed and accidentally grabbed both cheeks with a blush-on shot, and his eye was black from the eyeshadow. Many bees stung his red lips due to the thickness of the lipstick. He closed his eyes and remembered Samarra’s cheerful expression when he looked at him earlier.
Why didn’t he notice she was messing with his face? He grabbed his neck and felt like he’d have high blood pressure in no time.
“Cadden?!”
When he heard Samarra’s soft knock, he immediately opened the door. A peace sign in her hand accompanied her worried expression.
“The mice are playing while the cat sleeps,” he pondered, making Samarra bow.
“I’m sorry I saw your make-up earlier, and you were so handsome… So?!”
“So you tripped over me? You applied make-up to my face. Do you know what I’m capable of, Wifey? I’m going to punish you.”
Samarra took a quick look up at what he said. He saw her foot quickly retreat, but he grabbed both of her waists and dragged her into the bathroom.
“C-Cadd-”
When he claimed her lips, Zachary didn’t finish any of Samarra’s objections. He sensed Samarra was stunned, as if she was taken aback by what he had done, which made him secretly smile; this caused him to shiver even more, and one of his hands held her neck to deepen their kiss.
“Kiss me back, love,” he says in between kisses.
He bit her lips and slid his tongue around her mouth, enjoying the taste. Samarra’s two hands rose to wrap both arms around his neck, not to push him. They shared a hot and passionate kiss while kissing the water pouring from the shower.
“Oh, Cadden,” she sighed.
He could close his eyes as tightly as he wanted. Aside from their parents’ waiting, he knew it wasn’t the right time for them. He promised Samarra’s parents they would complete their education before having a child.
Fuck! He muttered a curse.
“Ara, as much as I want you now, it’s not the right time,” he said softly in her ear.
Samarra hugged her wet body and closed her eyes tightly. He had the impression she was still catching her breath.
“Thank you, Love… Thank you,” Samarra said softly.
