COLD
Zachary could not stop imagining what Samarra would do with his father’s business. Due to this, he seldom visits Buenavista Corporation. Zachary winced as Samarra stopped and turned to face him, adjusting his collar even though there was nothing wrong with it. He swallowed as he inhaled Samarra’s fragrant breath, who had squatted to maintain eye contact.
He whispered in her ear, “What are you doing?” after noticing that the employees were staring at them. On their faces was a look of astonishment.
“Where are your rings?”
He looked at Samarra while smiling, but she narrowed her eyes in irritation. He exhaled and scanned his surroundings. He touched Samarra’s cheek and leaned close to her earlobe with his mouth.
“Love, I will not remove this ring from my finger.”
He folded their hand and raised them to show Samarra he was wearing them. He never removed the ring from his finger.
Samarra smiled. “Very good. Mr. Buenavista.”
Many employees greeted them as they entered the building, and some bowed. He smiles and nods in response. He was not required to employ his father’s employees.
“She is snobbish.”
While looking at Samarra, Zachary could not help but overhear a coworker’s remark. He has also been attentive since an earlier time. Samarra does not smile when she is staring straight ahead. With her beautiful and pure appearance. She is cold toward everyone. In the elevator, he observed Samarra’s serious expression.
“What time is the meeting, Jameson?” Samarra interrupts the hush.
“Lady Summer, ten o’clock. Sir Ezekiel texted to see where we were. I stated that we were inside the building. He also says you should read a folder about the company’s sales. And you have two hours to go over them.”
Jameson and Samarra could not help but be impressed by Zachary. Knowing that they are nearly his age but being immediately occupied with the business. He could see Samarra nod as if she were analyzing it.
“And the one from the wine supplier of the hotel. You are correct to suspect that they charged us more.”
“Yes, I am aware that I can never commit an error. And you are aware. Who is the manufacturer? And have you identified a potential supplier just in case?”
“Yes, I will place the things you need on your table later, Lady Summer.”
The elevator stopped on the thirty-eighth floor. Zachary experienced Samarra’s firm grasp on his hand.
“Are you okay?”
Even though it was not apparent on her face, he sensed that her hand was cold and Samarra was not well.
“As long as you’re with me, I’m fine.”
Zachary’s jaw dropped when he heard what Samarra had to say. What’s up? He never imagined that Samarra possessed this trait. Although it sounds odd, he felt butterflies in his stomach.
“Love will not be frozen in place like a statue. We must move quickly.”
Before pulling him out of the elevator, Samarra even squeezed his hand. Damn! He could feel his heart beating speedily.
As usual, he followed Samarra down the hall as employees greeted them, but Samarra ignored them. Zachary guessed they were heading to the end of the hallway; if he wasn’t mistaken, it was the CAO chief administrative officer’s office.
But what will Samarra do here? He had a lot of questions.
“Oh, my goodness!”
When Samarra noticed her secretary, Hazel Manalo, staring blankly at Zachary, she frowned. Zachary’s nod to her secretary caused her to flip her hair.
Samarra couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. Her secretary appears to have forgotten to greet her. She sneezed loudly to get her attention.
“M-ma’am, g-good morning.” Secretary Hazel bowed slightly to her.
She rolled her eyes.
“Ms. Manalo,” she said as Secretary Hazel looked up.
“Mr. Buenavista is my husband, Ms. Manalo. So, while I’m here, I hope you’ll be a professional. I loathe my secretary for flirting with my husband.”
Samarra emphasized the word ‘flirt,’ and she blushed in embarrassment at what she said. She despises girls who make a cheap move.
“I’m so-”
“Enough.”
Samarra extended one hand and cocked an eyebrow toward her secretary. She did not wish to receive any further explanation from her. She walked into the office while turning her back on her secretary. She no longer drew in even Zachary. She sat down in her swivel chair and opened her desktop as soon as she entered. She heard the door open and close as she bowed down. She knew Zachary was following her even though she didn’t look back. She listened to his sneeze. But Samarra did not look up.
“Love?”
Samarra was taken aback when Zachary took her hand in his as he sat in front of her. He could see the mischievous smile on his lips as she met his gaze.
“What?”
“You’re cute when you’re jealous.”
“Do not wait until I become furious.”
Zachary laughed at what she said. She didn’t care if anything was funny as long as she told the truth.
“What?” she exclaimed.
“Okay, I’m sorry.”
Zachary surrendered to Samarra by raising both hands. Because he was so happy, he couldn’t understand himself. Samarra did not admit to being jealous but did not deny it.
“Please, Love, don’t be rude to anyone, especially Dad’s employees.”
Samarra’s brow furrowed in response to Zachary’s plea. What the f*ck? She is the rude one. She fixed her gaze on Zachary.
“Sorry about that. I was saying something like-”
“What do you mean? Is it inappropriate for me to speak to my secretary? She’s attempting to get your attention. Now, as your wife, I loathe her. She should be grateful to me. Because I did not fire her immediately.” Samarra has refocused her attention on what she is doing. Before standing up and sitting on the sofa, she felt Zachary’s stare. She also ignored her hand, trembling from the extreme stress and tension she was experiencing.
When Jameson arrived with folders in his hand, they were silent for a few moments. Her secretary came next, carrying a tray. She raised an eyebrow at her right away. She had no idea, but she was still irritated.
“Here is the agenda for the meeting, Madam.”
Jameson positioned the folders on her desk while he explained. She focused her attention on the woman placing coffee on Zachary’s table. Zachary returned her gaze and even smiled. She glared at him before turning her attention to Jameson. However, she didn’t unde
