Hushed Echoes

Chapter 6.

The fact that she had a son brought her back to her senses, therefore she could not do otherwise, but expect to summo courage in order to mature him and give him a sense of direction in life.

“But how can my husband who had been my source of inspiration, the man who brought me so much gladness and happiness suddenly plunge me into so much despair and depression?” She lamented bitterly, tears rushing down her face.

“Come on, please don’t talk like this, it’s not his fault, it’s just a strange twist of fate, don’t upset yourself with that, please stop lamenting and get yourself something to eat, I brought some food for you” Jamal’s wife, who had been with Maria for days, watching over her and Marco replied her.

“I don’t have any appetite for food” Maria shook her head, sobbing again.

“No please, don’t do these to yourself try as much as possible to eat something, even if not for anything, but for the sake of your son”

In other to satisfy her friend, she managed to eat a little out of the food, however she had a great difficulty swallowing the chewed food because of her cracked throat and swollen gums.

Few weeks later, the remains of Marco’s father were committed to mother earth in what could be described to specifically accord a final honor and gratitude to the man everybody liked dearly.

Almost all the sympathizers could not just stop talking about his Sterling qualities and virtues, everyone who knew him surely have something to say about him.

As widely discussed, Sylvester was a benevolent and beneficent man who never relented in assisting people by giving the little he had to the needy.

His utmost desire was to see that people were happy and therefore a smile on someone’s face filled his heart with so much joy and satisfaction.

Little wonder why everybody’s face was painted with sorrow and anguish when they heard about his dismiss.

A young man in his late thirties ran in from no where and made straight for the coffin, he held on to it as a him, then charged as if he was going to split it open, when dragged out by a group of men, he struggled to disentangle himself from their callous hands, but when he realized that they have overpowered him, he mercifully scumbed to the use of his mouth as the only available weapon with the way he screamed furiously.

“He is not supposed to die, I swear by the almighty, how come? Tell me, how come? Or else I will die along with him now” the man continued to scream until he was dragged out of sight.

The reality of life postulated that everything, so long as it’s endowed with breath just of a necessity come to an end.

Therefore even the kind and the wicked, including the rich and poor, must be subjected to this law of nature.

The best and most vital thing that human being must put into consideration is the fact that no matter nd however the situation, we should strive as much as possible to live board an be mindful of the things we do.

Maria cried gravely and refused to be consoled and in the process of weeping she kept asking intermittently, ” so my beloved husband, it’s true that you have Departed from me fire?” She snivelled and fell on the ground.

Jamal was accord the privilege to read the funeral oration at the grave side, as he read it with trembling voice, he could not hold back the tears as they kept on flowing down on his cheek like rain drops.

It was indeed a gloomy moment for him as he stood and paid an everlasting tribute to the memories of his late best friend whose untimely death appeared to have traumatized him beyond human comprehension.

In the throes of the funeral, his whole body was shivering like that of a person suffering from epilepsy and his mind throbbed as if the world was coming to an end, it was beginning to look like a part of him has escaped from his body.

Besides the fact that the deceased was his closest friend, they were more like brothers, even some brothers may not have had the kind of affinity that existed between them.

At a point he realized that if he could feel that way about his late friend, how did he made up his mind to compose himself and tackle the matter at hand with immersed tact and sensibility.

All of a sudden he noticed he had not comforted the bereaved wife throughout the period the burial ceremony lasted, rather he had been engrossed with his own emotional trauma.
