How I Remarry My Ex-Wife by Alvin Humphre

Chapter 31

4Chapter 31

Whitney remarked, “Mr. Mackenzie, you’re delusional. If you want to know why we’re doing this, ask your dear sister.”

Thiago turned to Megan, who was hiding behind him, but she just kept denying it and pointing fingers at Whitney. “Thiago, don’t fall for it. She’s scheming against me because she couldn’t handle you moving on with Quincey after your divorce. She’s out to get us.”

Hearing Megan’s accusations, Whitney couldn’t help but smirk cynically.

Thiago wore a serious expression, his uncertainty palpable as he struggled to decide whom to trust in that moment. When he saw Whitney’s determined expression, he felt some disbelief, even though the facts were clear. Despite their ongoing conflicts, he couldn’t imagine she would do such a thing.

As he hesitated, Jonah stepped up, visibly fed up with Thiago. He remarked, “if you think anyone is better than Whitney, then just stay away and don’t appear around her again.”

Lina agreed as she had disliked Thiago for a while. “You are a heartless jerk! You don’t deserve Whitney’s efforts,” she uttered.

Thiago was calm at first, but hearing their remarks made him angry right away. “You’re picking on Megan here and have the nerve to accuse me of bullying Whitney?” he shot back.

Whitney had reached a point of utter disappointment with Thiago, each situation seeming to become worse than the last. Stepping forward, she took out her phone from her pocket and played the video she had just recorded. It showed Megan hurling insults at Whitney, the former’s expression downright terrifying.

Thiago couldn’t believe Megan would say those things. When he looked at her, she cowered, avoiding eye contact with anyone.

“This is what the truth is!” Whitney turned to Lina, signaling her to bring the man over. “Look, this is the man your beloved sister brought. They want to ruin me. If I hadn’t been keeping fit, I might not be standing here now.” She laughed bitterly at herself as she continued, “Well, you couldn’t care less about me. My life doesn’t mean anything to you. Maybe my death would be a blessing to you since no one will compete with you over the project anymore.”

Thiago felt upset after hearing her. Just like what Whitney said, it would save him a lot of trouble if she didn’t compete with him, but he didn’t want her to disappear.

Lina continued to scold Thiago. “All the favors Whitney did for you in the past were just wasted. Don’t expect any more of that in the future. You’re oblivious to her kindness. In your opinion, everyone in the world is great except for her.”

“You don’t deserve her,” Jonah said to Thiago while offering Whitney a reassuring pat on her shoulder.

Whitney stared at Thiago. “Let’s not dwell on the past. I used to be too naive, but it will not happen again as I’m fully awake to the truth now. I used to be too soft hearted, but now I’m all about giving back as good as I get. Whoever treats me badly, I’ll repay them twice over.” Her gaze shifted from Thiago to Megan, who immediately lowered her head and cowered in fear.

Thiago sighed. After all, Megan was his sister, and he couldn’t let anything happen to her. So, he continued to protect her, saying, “Okay, she did mess up. What do you want from me?”

e to let her off? Whitney asked.

“What do I want?

ant? What if I refuse

Thiago said, “Whitney, that’s enough!” His unwavering protection of his sister left Whitney feeling hurt.

Whitney shook her head, smiling sadly. “Would you say the same if something happened to me?”

Thiago stayed silent. While he knew it was Megan’s fault, seeing Whitney act so coldly was hard for him to accept.

Whitney remarked, “Since you’re asking me what I want… All right, I can let Megan off the ho o k, but I’ve got a condition.”

Thiago didn’t push back. “Name your price. I’ll pay whatever it takes.”

Whitney sneered at his habit of solving problems with money. The truth was, she never lacked money. “Don’t you think that’s nonsense? If wanted your money, I wouldn’t even be standing here.” She held up her phone and showed him the video. “I want you to drop out of the project competition. This project is mine, and mine alone.”

As Whitney!

y was about to send the video, Megan nervously grabbed Thiago’s hand. “Thiago, you can’t let her send that video. If she does, my

life is over.”

Thiago sighed. He didn’t want to give up the project. He had been the one pressuring her to drop out, but now he sadly had to step back

himself

“Do you agree? This is the last time I ask you.” Whitney lightly tapped the screen. With just one more press, the whole world would see Megan’s scandal.

Megan kept pleading with Thiago. “Thiago, please, just agree.

“Three, two, one.” Whitney began counting down. As she was about to press the send button, Thiago relented. “Fine, I agree.”

Whitney nodded, satisfied with Thiago’s compliance.

He shot Whitney a disgusted look. “Are you satisfied now?”

“Not particularly.” Whitney smirked faintly. “Because this rightfully belongs to me. What’s mine is mine.” She wasn’t the same pushover anymore. She was a new person now and would let no one bully her.

Thiago snorted and turned away, leading Megan away.

“I didn’t say you could leave,” Whitney called after them. “There’s one more thing. Thiago, you owe me an apology”

“Why should I?” Thiago asked. He couldn’t understand why he needed to apologize.

Whitney brushed off his question. “You owe me an apology, plain and simple.”

Megan quickly stepped forward. “I’m sorry, Whitney. It’s all my fault. I won’t do it again.”

“I want Thiago’s apology,” Whitney insisted. She deserved it for everything in the past.

Thiago remained expressionless, but Megan panicked when she saw Whitney take out her phone. Megan urged, “Thiago, just apologize. Otherwise, my life is over.”

Whitney’s thumb moved closer to the confirm button, making Thiago a bit nervous. “I’m sorry,” he muttered.

Whitney felt a twinge in her heart. Though Thiago wasn’t sincere, hearing those words evoked an inexplicable sensation within her.

“Are you satisfied? Now, please delete the video,” Thiago said.

Whitney nodded, her face tensing up as she fought back tears. She reached for the delete button. “From now on, nothing you do concerns

Thiago felt his chest tighten. However, Megan interjected, “You’re out of the running with Thiago. He’s doing well with Quincey now, so you’ve got no chance at all.”

“Shut up.” Thiago shot Megan a glare before making a swift exit..

Worried that Whitney might still come after her, Megan hurriedly followed Thiago out.

Although Whitney hid her emotions well, Jon
