His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 397

Listen up.

What kind of crazy talk is this?

Eliza felt that Zach was getting more and more unhinged.

"Get help if you're sick," she snapped.

Eliza stood up to leave.

Zach grabbed her wrist, forcefully keeping her in place, "Don't go just yet. Let's chat... about your 'ex-husband."

She knew Zach was no pushover.

Since he knew Casper had returned to Falconridge, he must have been plotting all sorts of ways to deal with him.

It seemed like there was no way out.

So, he had turned his attention to her.

"Zach, can you leave me out of your issues with Casper?" she said, clearly repulsed.

"You are the link between us. How can I not involve you?" he tilted his head, his lips curving into a sinister smile, "I had no other choice." "Zach, if you can't beat Casper, go to your father or your half-brothers. What help do you think I could offer?"

She yanked her wrist free, her face full of disgust.

Zach chuckled lightly, "I understand targeting the weak spot. I might not be able to beat Casper, but I can hit him where it hurts."

His words had a deeper meaning.

Eliza's heart tightened.

Knowing Zach, this man was capable of stooping to any low.

Could he be planning to use her and her son to threaten Casper?

Casper had amnesia and didn't even remember he had a son. If anything happened, he might not be willing to help.

Even if he was willing, she didn't want him to be manipulated by someone like Zach.

"What do you really want? Speak clearly, don't beat around the bush."

"Eliza, if you could just persuade Casper to stop coveting Welton International, I can ensure you and your son remain safe."

Ha.

Just as expected.

Eliza scoffed disdainfully, her gaze at Zach filled with even more scorn.

"Zach, have you forgotten? You took Welton International when Casper was in trouble; it was never yours to begin with. And now you're playing the victim? Have some shame." Zach's expression darkened slightly.

Indeed, he had used some underhanded methods to temporarily gain control of Welton International.

But some of the veterans within Welton International had never taken him seriously.

Learning that Casper was not dead, they recently started insisting on having Casper take charge.

This put him in a difficult position.

His original plan was to have Tristan persuade those veterans, offer them some benefits to quiet things down.

But Tristan was too preoccupied with a new model, indulging in daily pleasures, paying no mind to Welton International's affairs.

Zach, nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof, found sleep elusive night after night.

In his desperation, he thought of Eliza and her son.

"I was never a good person to begin with." His hand suddenly grasped her chin, his features contorted, revealing a repulsive demeanor, "However, if you were to be with me, that would be a different story."

"You really are sick." Eliza, unwilling to hear Zach talk nonsense, pressed on with patience, "Mr. Zach, you should know Casper's got amnesia Trying to persuade him through me or threatening him with my child and me, do you think he'll comply? You might as well win over the board members of Welton International directly, getting an extra vote might be more realistic."

Eliza's gaze was icy as she turned her head toward the direction of the operating room.

Zach's expression paused for a moment, then he chuckled lightly as he got up, "I don't need a sermon from you. Think over my proposal carefully. I believe Casper will listen to you. I look forward to hearing good news from you."

The implication in Zach's words was clear.
