His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 329

The medical staff rushed Casper into the emergency room in a flash.

Gina realized everything was going south, dropped the weapon, and bolted.

Eliza didn't bother chasing Gina; she was more concerned with following the stretcher into the emergency room. Gina had come for her, but Casper had jumped in to take the hit. He was already a bit dim-witted.

Now, with a blow to the back of his head, Eliza was terrified for his life.

As long as he didn't die, she could find a way to repay him...

If it came to it, she'd take care of him forever.

Eliza was pacing frantically outside the emergency room. We turned to see Carlos approaching.

His trench coat flared with his hurried steps as he walked briskly towards her.

"How's he doing?" he asked urgently.

Eliza looked at him, puzzled. "How did you know...?"

"The word spread like wildfire at the construction site. Everyone's saying Gina attacked the fool. I was there sketching and rushed over as soon as I heard."

He glanced nervously at the red light above the emergency room.

After a moment, he calmed down and asked Eliza, "How long has it been?"

"Two hours."

She was worried, too; no nurses or doctors had come out to update them.

She had no idea how things were going.

"Gina didn't know she could end up in jail for this? How could she just attack like that?"

Carlos seemed genuinely angry.

His fists clenched so tightly that they made an audible sound.

After a brief moment of confusion, Eliza glanced at Carlos. "She was after me, but he took the hit for me."

"What?" Carlos' anger flared up like wildfire, spreading rapidly. His brows furrowed, and his eyes filled with disbelief,

"He's really a fool for taking a hit for me like that."

Eliza gently lifted her head to look at Carlos angrily.

In her memory, Carlos and Casper weren't particularly close. Their interactions were limited to a few casual encounters during sketching sessions. Why was Carlos so agitated now?

"Why are you so worked up? Could it be..." She wondered if there was something she didn't know.

Carlos met Eliza's questioning gaze and didn't feel the need to hide anything. "To be honest, I do have a bit of a soft spot for him."

"You... really... like men?"

It was just a suspicion before.

Now... Carlos openly admitted it.

But Casper wasn't gay.

"You don't have a problem with that, do you?"

Carlos knew that views on this matter were rather conservative, but he didn't care.

Eliza awkwardly shuffled her feet.

"Well,

but... he's a fool, you you do like men, you xst find a normal one."

"It's about feelings."

Feelings?

Eliza didn't understand Carlos' emotional world.

Luckily for Casper, he was a fool now.

If he were in his right mind and knew Carlos was interested in him, he might have killed him.

"Ding."

The light outside the emergency room was turned off.

Casper was wheeled out.

Eliza's heart leaped, and she hurried forward, anxiously looking at Casper.

His complexion was pale as paper, almost lifeless.

She nervously asked the doctor, "How is he? How is he doing?"

The doctor removed his mask, and his expression was grave. "We've managed to save his life, but his recovery... we'll have to wait and see."

Wait and see?

What did that mean?

Swnov

Eliza's heart tightened. She tried to catch more information from the doctor's tone.

"Doctor, are you saying he won't wake up from the coma? Or... is he going to be in a vegetative state?"

The doctor was silent for a moment,

then sighed softly, "It's too early to say. His condition is quite complex. We can only observe for now and plan accordingly. But, you shouldn't be overly pessimistic."

Nurses wheeled Casper off to his room.
