Her, To Home

Chapter 22

Dean has been in many life-threatening situations in his life, knife fights to gun fights to fist fights- he has done it all. Yet there never has been a moment where he had feared for his life. Bleeding, bruised, he has always known that he would make it.

But at this very moment, he was very scared for his life. He had woken up in a blissfully painful position. O’Brian had her one leg draped over his thighs. Her hand was on his bare stomach from where the shirt had slide up. Like a meal set against a hungry man, and he was starving. She looked too mighty delicious to not eat. In the shadow of the rising sun which was peaking from the window, she was a sight so damn beautiful that he couldn’t breathe.

It was terrifying.

Gulping as quietly as he could, he tried to get her hand away from his bare skin. The skin was burned too much for him to not make a sound. She mumbled something but let him do it. Next step was the most dangerous one, to get her leg away. Picking it up very gently, he put it on the bed. This woke her up.

Startled, she grabbed his hand. Her wide doe like eyes stopped time for him and his lungs function.

“Dean?” She whispered, half asleep. A yawn escaping her mouth. She stretched her arms and curled into a ball on his side, her eyes still close.

“Morning kitten.” He whispered back, kissing her head. He wanted to take her in his arms but his restrain was on its last rope. Restraining from even kissing her forehead again, he mumbled something about bathroom, quickly rose and rushed away.

The time he had come out, he was shivering due to the cold shower he had taken and knowing his future, there were many more to come. The sight of once again asleep O’Brian was tempting enough to make him almost get into the bed with her again but he managed to control himself to get her some breakfast.

O’Brian had come back a day before from the hospital and he had as his promise, not left her sight though his offer to keep her company in bathroom wasn’t well received by any of the O’Brian’s.

He hadn’t had time to wrap his head around the fact that O’Brian was finally his in terms where both O’Brian and he himself were fully conscious that they were in a relationship with each other and not just him alone which of course he would deny to admit to ever being not true. To him she was always his and yet, hearing those words from her mouth had rushed all his blood to his head.

And he had fainted.

Not his proudest moment but he hadn’t exactly minded. He was too happy to care about such minor details like the large bump on his head. It was a proud battle wound. Not exactly attractive but still, beggars can’t be choosers. And he has desperately begged for too long.

It was also true that he had never doubted that O’Brian would ever not accept him. Whether it was the narcissist in him or he was just delusional, he didn’t know or care. The point was that he wasn’t worried. And of course, this stubbornness has made him reach this point for he was a shameless man who would bounce back up after being rejected every damn time. It was O’Brian, the woman he has loved and desired for so long, could anyone expect any less?

He did still think it was dream. Or maybe he died in that accident and was granted heaven.

But the reminder that there was no way in hell he was going to heaven, eased his mind that he wasn’t dead and this was reality.

Though their time together the past day haven’t been exactly much different from before, mostly because he had been acting like her boyfriend for his own life now and O’Brian was injured- he wasn’t dissatisfied with it. Just the thought that she wasn’t glaring at him all the time was enough.

Not that he minded her glares, she looked sexy with those angry eyes and stubborn mouth which he could kiss all day.

Focus!

The house was silent when he came downstairs. It was probably too early for anyone to be awake and considering it was the weekend, he knew no one would disturb them before 12 o’clock.

After 20 minutes he was pulling the waffles out and pilling then in a plate. He didn’t exactly like sweet things but his woman required sugar in morning to wake up. A glass of orange juice and water was also seated beside the plate on the tray.

He skillfully held the tray in one hand and made his way back to his O’Brian.

She had seemed to just woken up again and was looking around for something. The second her eyes landed on him, a childlike smile from her stilled his breathe.

He couldn’t believe he finally owned something this beautiful.

He slowly walked towards her and she quickly leaned forward to hold the tray from him but with his free hand, he easily grabbed her from her waist and settled her down on him while sitting in the bed.

“Baby, you are still not allowed to do anything except me. Even then I am very willing to do all the work myself.” He quietly mumbled in her ear. But the second the words left him, he head-palmed himself in his head.

“Huh?” She asked, not understanding his words, still half asleep.

He had never felt gladder over the fact that O’Brian was an airhead.

“Nothing….” Pulling out her medicines which were supposed to be taken before eating out, he handed the glass of water to her and made her swallow the two small tablets. Sara unwillingly gulped them down and leaned back against Dean’s chest. The act was so natural that neither were surprised but the drumming sound of Dean’s heart was quiet easily heard.

Since he has been practicing self-control for a quiet a while now, he couldn’t do anything about the physical reactions but he was remarkable at keeping a straight outlook.

O’Brian liked to eat waffles by hand, a habit he has never cared much about till today when he was feeding small pieces of waffle from his own hand. The feather touch of her lips on his finger had sent shivers down his spine.

The thought of why he would torture himself never crossed him mind. He has been dying to pamper her, do everything for her. He never wanted her to be able to leave the bed because he was willing to do everything. All she had to do was stay in his sight and let him love her. He wanted to spoil her rotten.

The oblivious woman in his arms happily munched on the waffles, her senses finally awakening. He found her started to blush now getting aware of the situation on hand which was no help to him.

The rest of the breakfast went in daze for him as he feed quietly, keeping his gaze firmly on her and she looked everywhere but him while accepting the food.

When she was done, he cleaned up the tray and told her to freshen up while he come back from downstairs.

After cleaned up the kitchen, he returned to find her struggling to put her arm through a sweater. Seeing her winch in pain he quickly rushed to help her. With gentle hands, he pulled her arm out and also helped her with the other one.

She had a bruise on her right arm which had made it painful for it to move.

“You should have waited for me.” He said, pushing her gently to lay down again.

“I am not a baby.” She snapped. Her beautiful eyes flaring up. He felt himself shiver.

He grinned. He knew why she was cranky. She had been stuck to a bed for few days now but he has refused to let her step off the bed unless it was really necessary. He wanted to see her healthy again.

“You are my baby. Should I continue reading the book from where we left it off last night?” He asked, getting beside her. Trying his best to not touch her too much.

“Hmmm.” She answered, closing her eyes.

He took the book from the bedside where he left it and opened it to the folded page.

“She had refused to accept it. How could her child, her beloved son could betray her? She had raised him despite hating her husband, had suffered so much just so he could have the perfect family and yet he has left her alone to search for perfection somewhere else. The bitter tears burned her cheeks but she couldn’t stop cry…..” He softly read the words while watching from the corner of his eyes to see O’Brian drift to sleep again.

He continued till he could hear the adorable whistling noise coming out of her nose as she breathes. Watching her sleep beside him ached his heart. It was a bright sight which was blinding him to bliss. He was in heaven.

Kissing her nose, he slowly got out. With silent steps he walked out of the bedroom, closing the door gently behind himself. The soften eyes were suddenly gone. His face tightens as he took his cellphone and dialed without looking at the screen.
