Chapter 36 His frustration
"Are you sure you received all the shipments for this month?" Lora asked one of the personnel at the port.
She had received a lead earlier but it turned out to be a false lead. That was when she realised someone was deliberately trying to lead her in the opposite direction. So, she decided to go to the port and check for herself whether the shipment was missing or not. The personnel looked through his records and confirmed, "Yes, all the shipments arrived safely. None was lost at sea."
"Ok, did anyone from Davis & Co. sign a release document for shipment XXXXX?" Lora questioned seriously.
The man appeared to hesitate. He gulped and said, "No, Ma'am. No one has signed yet. It seems they couldn't find the shipment."
Lora frowned. "But you said all the shipment arrived."
"Yes... but yours mysteriously disappeared and no one signed for it," the man said.
"Ok... I'll search for it myself," Lora remarked, she was about to turn around when she heard a familiar voice.
"Lora!"
Lora froze when she heard Ryan's voice: She whipped around, her eyes widening when she saw him walking towards her with a worried look on his face.
'Ryan?' She asked in her mind, feeling confused. 'What is he doing here?'
"What-"
Before she could ask why Ryan was there, Ryan had reached her and grabbed her arms, concern flickering through his eyes. "Are you ok? Are you hurt? What happened?" Ryan looked at Lora's body this way and that, seemingly looking for any injuries.
His eyebrows were creased in worry as he searched her body with his eyes, "Why did you scream and why was your phone off?" Lora's eyebrows met. She was taken aback by Ryan's reaction. He kept checking her repeatedly like she was his most precious thing.
"Lora, answer me! Are you ok?" Ryan glanced into Lora's eyes intently with so many emotions flashing through his eyes.
Lora didn't want to answer Ryan, however, seeing him so concerned for her stirred a complex feeling in her heart.
She couldn't deny that seeing him so worried about her moved her a little. It was the first time she was seeing that look on his face. A look that looked like he was afraid something would happen to her.
"1. I'm ok, Ryan, chill," Lora stammered, her heart pounding in her chest. "I was a bit distracted when I

hone and I slipped."
Ryan's worned eyes searched Lora's body again. He asked, "Did you get hurt?"
Lora felt a flutter of butterflies in her stomach. She gulped and replied softly, "I only sprained my ankle. It's no big deal."
Ryan lowered his eyes and his heart sank when he saw the purplish bruise on Lora's right foot. She was still wearing her high heels! Wasn't this woman concerned about her leg?
"Why are you still walking around in those shoes? Do you want to lose your leg? And why was your phone off? You haven't explained about that," Ryan questioned.
Lora said, "My phone battery went off and I'm fine, Ryan. Why are you making such a big fuss about it?" Ryan was left speechless. He thought someone had kidnapped her or attacked her or something. Ryan couldn't even explain why he was so worried about her. The moment he heard her scream, he couldn't think about anything else and just followed his instincts and feelings.
"I couldn't help it... I just wanted to make sure you're safe," Ryan remarked, looking into Lora's eyes.
For a moment, Lora got lost in Ryan's deep gaze... the emotions flitting through his eyes, the anxious and concerned look on his face... she felt a little moved.
However, she recalled who Ryan was and came back to her senses.
She blinked and said, "Thank you for your help, Mr Kingsley. You can leave now, as you can see, I'm working."
Mr Kingsley? Didn't she call him Ryan just now? Ryan was confused by Lora's hot and cold attitude. He recalled the conversation he heard in the club. Smiling at Lora, he offered, "I heard you lost a shipment. I'll help you find it... the logistics company bringing in most goods belongs to me."
Lora frowned and replied, "No thanks-"
Ho
"It's fine if you don't want my help. But I'll stay since this concerns my company too... I need to find that shipment," Ryan stated.
Lora sighed in resignation and turned to walk away. Ryan followed and walked beside her, he took out his phone and sent a few texts.
They kept walking around while looking at the many containers at the port. Lora had a limp because of her fall. She sighed and said, "It will be hard to find it. These many containers look like a maze."
Ryan's phone buzzed and a smile crossed his lips when he read the message. He glanced at Lora and uttered, "I know where to find your shipment. Let's go this way."
He led Lora through a small path with containers on either side. It didn't take long for them to find the container.
A man was seated near the container while smoking a cigarette. He was laughing out loud and said to some of the men who were there, "This container will never make it to the company warehouse. Do you know how much my share will be? I'm going to be richl

Lora furrowed her eyebrows. She approached the man and stated, "Now you won't get a chance to be rich. You're fired!"
The man jumped from his seat, his eyes widening when he saw Lora's face. He dropped the cigarette in his mouth and stammered, "M-Miss Davis? It's not what you think-"
"Are you saying you didn't try to sabotage the company? I'm being merciful, otherwise, the police would have been here by now. You're fired with immediate effect!" Lora hissed, her eyes turning cold.
She glanced at the other men who looked frightened and ordered, "Have the shipment delivered to the warehouse, if you try anything funny, not only will I fire you, I'll have you locked up in jail!" ""Y-yes Ma'am!"
Ryan was impressed with the way Lora handled the situation. He stepped closer to her and was about to bend down to look at her leg but Lora stepped back.
"What are you doing?" Lora asked, eyeing Ryan warily.
"I just want to look at your ankle... it looks swollen-"
"No need," Lora declined coldly.
Ryan's eyebrows creased. The woman was clearly in pain, why was she refusing his help? He offered, "Let me carry you to the car then. I don't think you should use that leg in that state."
Lora looked into his eyes and rejected him, "No thanks, Mr Kingsley. I can manage to walk on my own."
Ryan gritted his teeth and ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "Why are you so cold to me?! I'm just trying to help!"
"Is it appropriate for a man with a fiancee to carry another woman? Or that's just in your nature, Mr Kingsley... Do you have a habit of flirting with other women when you already have a fiancee?" Lora remarked coldly and began to limp away.
