Silana’s POV

My ringing phone pulled me from the dream world. These days, I slept like a log throughout the night and sometimes into the afternoon. Most of the time, I woke up to Laura shaking me awake to eat breakfast. Sleeping was a welcome symptom after my loss of appetite and fire stunt.

“Hello?” My voice came out thick and tired as I clutched the phone upside down.

“Sihana,” a voice breathed from the other end of the phone. It was enough to wash away every lingering bit of sleep from my eye. “How are you?? The voice shook to my amazement.

“What do you want from me?” I growled into the receiver, turning the phone the right way. “Why are you calling me?” I demanded, irritation washing over me.

No matter how much time had passed, the effect of this voice was the same. Anger, hatred, and irritation washed over me at the same time.

“I–I just” He stuttered and then he sighed, “Is it wrong to call you now?” He had the audacity to ask such a question.

Kade, I growled, pushing out of bed. He wasn’t here, he couldn’t see me, but staying in bed listening to that voice made me feel vulnerable..

He couldn’t touch me anymore and we may have no reason to meet each other in this life but when I heard his voice, I felt the need to sit upright, and then to stand. I paced, feeling rigid as if I would have to defend myself any second from now. It was stupid madness, but the memories I tried to let go of flooded into me when I heard his voice.

“Sihana,” he said then cleared his throat. “I have something to tell you.” He tried to sound businesslike but his tone was weak, sad even.

“I hope it’s nothing silly,” I quipped. A sigh came from the other end of the phone that made my heart beat faster. I wasn’t in the mood to listen to any nonsense.

“Do you think I have time to waste, calling you to tell you something silly?” He tried to sound angry but his pain coloured his words.

“I don’t care. How did you even get my number?”

Only about five people had my number and only Cahir and Aristo ever called but as I asked the question, I realized it was silly as Felicity also had the number. I hadn’t given it to her willingly but I’d found that Felicity and persistence were the same. She did not give up. She hounded me until I gave her my number and then she started sending me weird–looking images I think were supposed to make me laugh. I found. them annoying.

“That’s not important. Listen, I need you to be careful, he said. My brows furrowed at the words spoken in haste

“Are you threatening me?” My confusion sounded in my words.

“No, I am warning you. The words sounded more like a threat than a warning. “There’s a plot against you. I wanted to tell your mate but I don’t have the full detals yet and that man – He trailed off with a sigh.

“What’s the plot and who’s plotting?” My brain went into overdrive.

It was just months ago that people tried to ambush men my hotel room and Silver Moon was still the prime suspect. The culprits hadn’t been found to date despire Alpha Blood’s extensive network of investigators so they ruled it impossible for a pack like Silver Moon to be involved. But this

If Kade knew something then it wasn’t farfetched to think his pack was involved.

“If I tell you” Kade started and I heard the bargain before he mentioned it. “Promise your mate wouldn’t harm my pack

“Alpha Kade,” my voice was cold. “I am the reason your pack still exists. If anything happens to me, even if there’s no evidence pointing to you, your pack will be the first suspect and you know what my mate is capable of.” It felt wrong throwing Cahir’s name out like this but the words were spilling from my mouth with a chilling tone that ver knew I was capable of. You better start talking before I fill in the blanks myself.”

“Sihana” He sounded shocked but I didn’t care.

“Alpha Kade, I’m going to count till three before I hang up. One –”

“It’s my father,” he blurted. “That’s why I’m telling you now. I – I don’t want anything to happen to you but if Cahir finds out someone in my pack plans to hurt you, I know he’ll use the opportunity to aim for my pack.”

“That wasn’t so hard to say, was it?” I was going to hang up the call and call my mate but he stopped me.

“That’s not all,” he shouted when I pulled the phone away from my ear. “Listen to me, Sia. It’s not just

him.”

“Who is it then? Felicity?” I knew that bitch had ulterior motives but she had a way of wearing down a person’s defense by constantly applying pressure and hounding them.

“Yes, Felicity but my sister is in over her head. I think it’s my father and a few other Alphas that have a grudge against your mate.”

“I sec.” I saw red. Damn these bastards. When would my life be peaceful? Why did I have to jump from problem to problem!?

That’s That’s not the only thing.” Kade sounded down. “I know you won’t believe me but the greatest threat is going to be from Alpha Blood.” My eyes widened.

“What the fuck do you mean? What do you know?” I shouted, pacing my room.

“Hey, hey, calm down,” Kade exclaimed. “Goddess, Sihana, you’re like a whole different person.

“Of course, I am,” I snapped. “I am no longer the runt of your pack. Now, tell me what I need to know!”

I know little,” he admitted.

“Then you’re wasting my time,” I hissed.

“N- No. I’m just – Ah, I don’t know what’s happening in your pack because no one tells me anything these days but from the start, Felicity was supposed to enter Alpha Blood pack to find people to work with Silver Moon against Cahir. They don’t tell me anything anymore because – well they seem to have found

someone and they have something planned soon.”

“Find out more,” I told him. “What do you even mean they don’t involve you when you’re the Alpha?”

“It’s There’s some trouble with the Alpha position. I’m too busy to get into details with you but you have to be careful. Whatever protection you have now, tell your mate to double it and for my part in this, he better not touch Silver Moon.” He ended the call before I got a word in.

I called Cahir to tell him immediately but he didn’t pick up. When I tried to leave the house to the office, Laura stopped me for breakfast. These days, I was under close watch and it was getting

annoying. They didn’t mean bad but at times like these, I didn’t want people hounding me.

No matter what I said, they insisted I had to have breakfast for the baby so I did. It was a good argument to get me to cooperate – I’d do anything for my baby so I sat and ate while dialling my mate.

In the end, two warriors escorted me to the pack office where I met chaos.
