Healing The 109
Healing The 109
Healing The Ruthless Alpha
Sihana’s POV
We stayed at the hotel for a week while the Alpha Castle was renovated. That week, Cahir did not let me step out of the room. My temperature was high most of the time and we ended up pleading with the priestess to send the holy necklace to us rather than going to pick it up.
It took a lot to convince the high priestess to entrust something so valuable to someone other than I, the recipient, but she finally relented and gave it to Laura accompanied by Sebastian.
“Just touching this makes me feel so much better.” I sighed, rubbing a hand on the necklace. The other one I used to wear was sent back to the high priestess.
“I’m glad,” Cahir said in a tired voice.
There was a lot that needed to be done now that the battle was over. The number of casualties on our side was high. Corpses littered the streets, parents crying and mass funerals having to be held. There was also the matter of the sanction for the Greyson family. Their head had sponsored war on the pack so it wasn’t unfair to have them exiled. Before that, Cahir was sure to confiscate their wealth.
Dorian Greyson was never good enough to lead the Greyson family. He was too arrogant, too stupid and too predictable. A family like the Greysons should have been in the control of his younger
brother who at
least knew how to scheme secretly but he was the eldest and thus inherited the family which he sent to ruination. I couldn’t even feel bad for them. All three of the Greysons I met were despicable people.
As for the Carsons, Mr Carson’s body had been found in an obscure location, mangled and brutal. His wife had taken her life in the face of the death of her husband and all her lofty dreams. Avalon was said to be in a catatonic state and was one of the few people who had been thrown into the dungeons. Most of the rebels met death so there were only a few people to confine.
“The high priestess could have sent this since but I feel she just wanted to see my face so she can pinch my cheeks and talk nonsense,” I said to ease the heavy air in the hotel room but Cahir didn’t crack a smile at my stiff joke. “Is anything the matter?” It was a stupid question to ask considering all that had happened but he wasn’t in such a bad mood hours ago.
“We lost Melanie,” he blurted. I blinked as my throat went dry.
“I am sorry.” It was the only thing I could think to say at such a time.
Melanie, his gamma, had died protecting me. Her injury had been fatal but when I asked about her when I woke up, they told me she was responding well to treatment.
“She was the only child of her old mother,” Cahir continued. “The woman collapsed upon the news and it doesn’t seem like she would make it.” That made the situation worse.
“I’m sorry,” I apologized again. Why? I didn’t know what else to do.
“The damage done is more than I arrogantly estimated” For the first time since this epistle started, Cahir looked sombre. My mate who looked dashing even when dripping with blood, looked weary that day, his eyes dim and his shoulders slouched.
“Ah, I should have known that bastard was jealous of me.” He was definitely annoyed that he never once picked up on Aristo’s secret schemes.
It wasn’t until the beta was discovered to be a traitor that all his secrets started to surface. From the time Cabir took over the pack, Aristo had been jealous of him for no reason. He disrespected his authority many times but he let it slide because Aristo was his best friend who fought beside him in the greatest battle of his life. They’d spent some time together in the dungeons being threatened by Alpha Boston so he didn’t even consider his beta had ill intentions towards him.
From the start, Aristo had been in liaison with Dark Moon pack and had formed strong relations with all the people cast aside. He was the insider that spread rumours about Cahir to the press and then when I came along, he decided he had had enough of being Cahir’s beta. He wanted everything my mate had, including me.
I wished I could shoot the bastard again.
“I have to send people to Silver Moon,” Cahir said with a sigh. “Now that I have the time, I must repay my debt.” Apparently, Kade had been the one to help him find me when Aristo kidnapped me on the way to the temple.
To my surprise, Silver Moon pack was under siege by none other than Alpha Warren, the past Alpha and father of the current Alpha. Kade hadn’t even been in the position for six months and his father
was already trying to kick him out. He had barely asserted his authority in the pack so it must be difficult for him at this time but unfortunately, I still didn’t care about him.
Felicity had run back home right before the start of the battle and Cahir was adamant about punishing her. However, Kade already declared her a traitor to Silver Moon for siding with their father to usurp him so she was a prisoner there already. She’d known all of Aristo’s plans yet she still came closer to me and pretended to be my friend. I was grateful ver truly let my guard down around her but still resentful that I almost did.
“Are you hungry?” Cahir asked suddenly, slapping a hand on his thighs as he stood.
My appetite had disappeared after all this hassle but it was clear he was looking for an excuse to leave this hotel room – a place he didn’t leave without me. He didn’t want me out of his sight any more than I wanted him out of mine.
It was just last week he took a bullet for me and it was by sheer luck the bullet only grazed his side rather than embedding into him. I may be living a different reality if he got struck down by a silver bullet. His body expunged the silver poison and he was back on his feet faster than I who’d collapsed from the shock.
“Yes, let’s go eat something delicious,” I said with a big smile. It was the only way I could think of comforting him at this time.
His best friend betrayed him and his gamma died. He was still in the process of cleaning up those who supported the attack against his leadership. At least ten families had been rounded up and seven different packs had entered the blacklist of the Alpha Blood pack.
Hand in hand, my mate and I stepped out of the hotel room and went down the elevator. The streets were quiet as we passed. Although it had been more than a week since the battle was wrapped up,
the renovations were still ongoing. People still tiptoed through the streets, looking over their shoulders as if expecting an attack again,
“We should go on holiday,” I suggested to my mate but then I frowned. This was not the time to leave the pack.
“Is that what you want?” Cahir asked with a deep frown

“No, forget I said that.” Silence descended after that. “What are you going to do about- Melanie,” I spoke her name with caution.
“I will bury her with my hands.” I nodded in understanding.
It was a sign of respect for the Alpha himself to dig up to carth and lay someone to rest with his own hands. It was respect the former gamma deserved for her unflinching loyalty. I’d only known her for a short time but she’d held steadfastly to her duties to her pack and her Alpha. Alpha Blood would definitely
miss her.
“And the traitors and invaders?” I could not ask for what would happen to those who fought alongside us because there was a laid down protocol for that. A mass burial where the whole pack gathered to say farewell to those who gave their lives for their land.
“Burnt to a crisp, ashes dumped into a sewer.” I nodded, understanding the anger with which he spoke.
We entered the first open restaurant we found. The place was empty save for the staff who jumped in alert as we entered.
“Alpha, Luna!” They greeted.
We took our seats and Cahir ordered for us. I wasn’t interested in food but I nodded as he ordered.
“ver did say this but thank you,” I muttered as the waiter left. “You took a bullet for me.”
“It’s not something I need to be thanked for.” His dark and hard expression softened. “It’s my duty as your Alpha and mate.”
“I – I can’t explain how scared I was and I’m just – I’d rather die than watch you jump in front of me like that ever again.” I swallowed. His expression darkened further.
“You can’t die before me, Sihana Asena,” he commanded. “I forbid it,” he growled, making me chuckle.
“It’s not something we can control,” I muttered. “But I’ll try not to,” I added with a grin. “But you can’t die before me, either, love.” Even thinking about life without my mate filled my mind with darkness. I scratched my chest as the pain that prickled my heart intensified just from thinking of losing him.
“Then let’s die together,” he said with a serious face that made me laugh out loud.
“Yes, let’s die together, Cahir Perseus,” I responded with a goofy grin.
