Chapter 4

Chapter 4

I was so sad to depart from my best friend. She was my bestie since I was a little girl. I still remember

that day when I took admission to my school. I was scared and confused about the new surroundings

and people.

I was 6 years old. My family was in stable condition. We were a typical happy middle-class family full of

hope and happiness. My father and mother were my worlds. We always found happiness in little things.

My dad worked as a salesperson in a small shoe store. We were not that poor. I got admission to the

new school and was very excited about it. I heard they taught students how to make crafts. I was soo

into the arts.

My mother woke me up every day. I was a little girl who was very lazy to wake up early in the morning.

It was my first day at school. My mother dressed me up and packed my lunch box. She put my books in

the pink Cinderella bag according to the timetable. I said goodbye to her and accompanied my dad to

the school.

My blue color painted class was so pretty. I saw tiny little kids scattered here and there in my class.

Some of them were running and having fun while some were crying and not letting go of their parents.

Then it hit me I wasn't willing to let him leave, so I hugged him tightly without letting him go.

He tried to make me get into the classroom, but my tiny eyes were already full of tears. I sobbed and

screamed until a little girl came running to me and hugged me. She told me it will be alright and I could

be her best friend. That little girl was Nancy. I was so lucky to have met her. She was always a sister to

me since I had no siblings.

Her family was well settled. Her father owned a supermarket, and her mother was the teacher in the

same school. That is the reason she joined the school that her mother teaches.

We pinky promised to be best friends forever. She was my partner in crime. I went to the house on

holidays and during festivals. She had a beautiful tree house where we spent most of our time together

making flowers from origami. Her mother was so supportive of us and she used to help us with our

studies.

We had our little secrets. She had a crush on a boy in our class. His name was Aaron, and he was a

quiet little cute boy who used a corner chair and minds his own business. He joined our school in fifth

grade. He always slept during the first few periods. His favorite activity was scribbling in his notebook.

Nancy was always curious about him. She was keenly interested in him. So during our 7 grade, she

mastered courage and talked to him. He was surprised and tensed at first but Nancy was a very

friendly and talkative girl hence she never gave up.

After a few days of struggling, she finally succeeded in making him our friend. He told us his story. His

father was a pilot who died in a plane crash. He had a mother and a little sister at home. His mother

sent him to our school so that he can concentrate on his studies and not think about his father. So that

he could overcome his grief. He stayed in the school hostel. He said he wanted to study well and find a

successful career and look after his family and make his father proud.

I thought he was an introvert, but he turned out to be the most talkative extrovert. He was so fun to

hang out with. He was very good at sports and athletics and was a very energetic person who was the

crush of most of the girls in our school. His black eyes were the most attractive feature on him. His

wavy brown hair was always on his forehead and sometimes they poked his eyes. He always helped

everyone. He made a lot of friends besides us.

After ninth grade, he transferred to another school, and Nancy was heartbroken about it. She hadn't

had his contact details with her. He lived in a different city. She was not sure of the exact details of

where he lived. She was in grief and cursed herself for not opening her heart to him. Till today she

never felt for another boy. She always wanted to think about her first crush, who was also her first love.

I woke up to the alarm sound from my clock. It was almost 5:30 am. I was so excited.

"Oh my god. My college starts today. I need to make new friends and fresh memories. "I chuckled.

I was half worried, too. I was lost in my thoughts. I was feeling a little tired as well. I rubbed my eyes

and tried to lift my mood.

I walked slowly, in a sleepy mood, into my bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my teeth. I took a

bath. The warm water was so soothing in my skin. It felt so great. I hummed a little song while rubbing

my body with my jasmine fragranced soap. I just love jasmine flowers. Even my perfume is jasmine. I

giggled and danced in the shower. I should be careful because I may slip and fall in the bathroom and it

will be so embarrassing on the first day. Think about going to the class with a couple of broken bones. I

turned the shower off and wrapped my body with a towel. I needed to find a perfect costume with

matching earrings.

I wore a dark blue dress on my first day. Blue is my lucky color and my favorite color. The dress

reached a few inches above my knees and was located with cute little flowers. The neck was V-

shaped, and the sleeves reached up to my elbows. Nancy brought me so many matching accessories

during the shopping. So I also put on matching colored butterfly earrings which looked so cute. I tied

my hair in a ponytail and applied nude makeup. I looked up in the mirror and praised myself. Yeah, I do

look so cute in my outfit. I thanked Nancy for buying me half of my outfits.

I finished my breakfast as quickly as I could. I waved goodbye to my parents and rushed outside. I

couldn't properly enjoy the food my mom made me. The tension was too much to handle that I thought

I was about to puke. No matter whether you were a kid or an adult first day always scared me.
