Chapter 56: Why are grown men so pretentious?
Neto saw that everyone was huddled in the kitchen and not coming out, so he rushed over: “Can we eat now?
“Yes, yes, yes, yes, …, let’s eat.” Lucila pushed Neto and headed for the dining room, leaving Severo and Allyce inside the kitchen.
Allyce looked down at the table and saw Lucila raising her fist to tell her to cheer.
Encourage what? Divorce and alimony?
Allyce looked away and whispered, “Go and eat”.
He was not a very thick-skinned person, and she still felt a little uncomfortable seeing him again now after having kicked him out of the door of her house only yesterday.
Severo was an impeccable person in his own right, only, for her, it was far from enough.
A true relationship must be honest with each other, with no secrets.
He, on the other hand, was clearly a man full of secrets, and faced with an impossible relationship, his first thought was to stop in time and save his life.
His eyes were slightly downcast, and Severo could not guess what he was thinking without seeing his eyes.
He looked back to the table where Lucila and Neto were arguing about whether to cook the meat or the vegetables first, not having time for him and Allyce, and stepped forward on his feet, reaching out to pinch Allyce’s chin with his fingers and lift it slightly.
Allyce’s eyes widened as she realised what he was about to do, but in the end she was unable to resist his forceful intrusion.
He took her chin and sucked her lips eagerly, lips and teeth touching, breaths intertwined.
His kiss was so forceful and urgent that Allyce was forced to take two steps back and would have fallen to the ground if Severo hadn’t stopped and given her a hand.
“Let’s eat.
Allyce looked nervous as she pushed her away and turned back to the table.
Lucila picked up her chopsticks and hit Neto’s hand: “How pretentious of you to be a big pretentious man! You can’t cook spicy meat in a clear soup”.
“I only like spicy meat cooked in clear broth!”
Neto poured the rest of the meat on his plate directly into the clear soup pot.
Lucila was about to say more when she saw Allyce and Severo approaching.
He sat down in front of Neto and muttered under his breath: “Little stick”.
Severo, who was sitting next to him, heard this and looked at Neto with surprise.
Neto’s body shuddered under her gaze: “Why are you looking at me?
Severo gave him a wordless look, his eyes finally settling on the spot below her waist and stomach.
Neto’s face alert: “If you have something to say, why are you looking at me?”
“Nothing.
Severo’s face was still a bit strange, but he stopped looking at Neto.
The meal was quiet, except for Allyce’s mind reeling.
As Severo was leaving, he gave Allyce a meaningful look and it suddenly occurred to him that all the dishes for today’s hot pot had been bought by Severo yesterday …
…
Neto followed Severo and got into his car.
“Why did you look at me?” Neto sat on the passenger side and buckled his seatbelt as he spoke.
Severo thought for a moment and decided to inquire about the health of this old friend: “What’s going on between you and Miss Floria?
“That flat-chested little one? I’ve never seen a woman as unreasonable as her.” Especially since all his years of flirting history had been useless in front of Lucila.
“There are some things in which, as a man, you should exercise restraint.” Severo drove on, his face unhinged.
Neto finally caught on to something and looked at him in horror: “What do you mean?
“I think Miss Floria can be less than satisfied with some aspects of her skills.
Severo expressed very subtly what he had heard earlier from Lucila.
Neto blackened on the spot, not that he could say anything to Severo, it was Allyce who had brought it up.
He and Lucila are enemies when they meet.
When Neto said nothing, Severo thought he had consented and was too embarrassed to say anything, so he didn’t ask.
He had known Neto since the year he left the country, at the age of fourteen, and the years of friendship had made him feel he had to think of this one friend.
“I have postponed the check to this afternoon, let’s go together”.
“…” Neto dismissed him with a cold look and turned to look out of the window with silent sadness.
It’s not a little stick, I’m a giant cucumber!
…
The weekend has passed quickly.
On Sunday, Allyce and Lucila went out for a full day of shopping, leaving all their worries behind.
On Monday, Allyce got up early to go to work.
As soon as he arrived at the office, someone approached him.
“Miss Delahoz, the president wants you to come”.
“Yes, thank you, I’m on my way”.
As soon as the man left, Lucila, who was sitting next to Allyce, immediately approached her, “What’s the president calling you for? He’s not going to give you a hard time, is he?”
“Don’t worry, the most he can do is threaten me and put a bit of pressure on me, he won’t do anything for now”. She knew Casimiro’s character well.
Allyce patted Lucila’s shoulder, gesturing for her not to worry.
…
When he arrived at Casimiro’s office, he found that not only Casimiro but also Senona was there.
“Allyce,” Senona turned her head to look at her with a smirk on her face.
Allyce smiled back, “Senona”.
Casimiro, for his part, greeted Allyce as if he had not realised the secret rivalry between the two: “Allyce, come here and give a brief report on your approach to the L. K. Group.
Allyce also guessed that it was the L. K. Group, so he went over and gave a brief report.
She had only worked one day last week, and once she arrived and was sent directly to the L. K. Group, nothing went away for a day and a half.
A brief summary.
Casimir nodded and was silent for a moment before speaking: “Then, next time you go, take Senona, who is more experienced and can help you if there is something you don’t understand.
Allyce looked at Senona, who was trying to take credit for her work.
“Since Senona wants to go, then I will respectfully submit.”
Allyce’s generosity pleased Casimiro.
But Senona was not so amused, for she had wanted Allyce to think that it was because her grandfather was not comfortable with her doing something that she let herself go, to have the effect of causing Allyce to go to her grandfather and make trouble for him.
I didn’t expect Allyce to say she wanted to go as soon as she opened her mouth.
“However, the president of the L. K Group is not in a very good mood, so you should be prepared.” Allyce was all smiles and her voice ended with a slight rise, sounding like she was warning Senona in a good way.
Casimiro agrees: “He hasn’t been seen in front of the media for years, so you can imagine he has a bit of an eccentric temperament.
“What kind of person is the president of the L. K. group?” asked Senona softly.
“A young, handsome, attractive man”. And that man doesn’t like you.
Senona’s eyes lit up with words.
Allyce smiled inexplicably; after several encounters, she knew that Severo would not like a woman like Senona, and she had some anticipation of what Senona would be like when she met Severo.
