Chapter 23: Don’t Give Him Ammunition to Hurt Me
At the sight of Allyce, Enzo Aybar froze for a moment and then walked away towards her.
“Mr. Aybar, we meet again”. Severo Betances spoke suddenly, interrupting his way to Allyce.
Enzo’s expression changed when he saw Severo. His expression got even worse when he saw the car behind him.
Allyce looked at Enzo’s car, a Rolls Royce, but not a Severo model.
Severo’s was a newer model in a limited global edition, pre-sale version, while Enzo’s was sold in 4S shops, with a price difference of several million euros.
Enzo, with a sour expression, turned to Allyce and said, “Allyce”.
“Are you here to pick up your fiancée? My husband and I have something to do, so we’ll be leaving now.” Allyce stretched the corners of her mouth into a deceptive smile, which made her look cold.
Severo slipped a hand around his waist and with a clear look of contempt in his eyes said: “Goodbye, Mr Aybar!
Enzo narrowed his eyes at Severo. There were only a few people in Cloud City who dared to look at him like that. He couldn’t ignore him.
Allyce was very beautiful. In the past, he had had feelings for her, but because of his father, he had had to choose to give her up.
He knew better than anyone how Allyce felt about him.
Though he had given her up, he could not let another man take her place in his heart at will.
“Allyce and I grew up together. She was like a little sister to me. Now that you’re together, we should have dinner together”.
With a provocative look, he turned to look at Megan: “Allyce, don’t you think?
Allyce smiled bitterly inwardly: just like her little sister?
Allyce really wanted to decline, as the look on Enzo’s face told her that his intention was only to humiliate Severo.
Severo looked at Allyce and whispered: “Allyce, since your brother-in-law insists, we should respect his invitation.
Severo strategically pronounced the word “brother-in-law”, much to Enzo’s annoyance.
This man, Severo, was too arrogant. Enzo calmly decided to make him suffer.
“Since my brother-in-law insists, I have no reason to refuse”.
Allyce laughed faintly. It was funny to call him brother-in-law.
Two people calling him brother-in-law at the same time made his expression harden.
From a distance, Senona saw the three men standing in the doorway.
She and Enzo had planned to have dinner together. Worried that Enzo might see Allyce, she had specifically asked him to arrive a little late. However, she finally ran into Allyce.
“Enzo, you’re here.” Senona smiled as she walked over to him and put her arm around him.
Severo looked at his watch, he seemed to be in a hurry”. Everyone is here, can we go now?”
Senona looked at Severo and a deep thought crossed her eyes: was it possible that Severo had slept with Allyce all night and developed feelings for her?
If not, why was he picking her up from work?
“Where to?” Senona asked Enzo.
“Allyce has been back for a while, but we haven’t had dinner together yet, so I’ve invited them to join us for dinner tonight.”
Enzo had always been kind to Senona because in his mind, Senona was the ideal choice for a wife – intelligent, kind and from a wealthy family.
Allyce averted her eyes at the flirtatious looks they were giving each other; she didn’t want to see him.
Each teapot has a lid.
They really are made for each other.
Her feelings for Enzo fade when she learns of his distant attitude towards her because of her father’s imprisonment. Now, she can clearly see what kind of man he is.
…
Enzo’s place of choice turns out to be Kimdis.
Allyce unbuckled his seatbelt, looked out and said, “I don’t think Enzo’s intentions were good”.
“Then you must stay by my side at all times. Don’t give him ammunition to hurt me”.
Severo glanced sideways at her, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. However, that smile didn’t reach his eyes and made Allyce feel distant. He didn’t look like the Severo she knew.
Allyce muttered: “What ammunition …” .
Severo stopped talking, got out of the car and opened the door. He was a gentleman.
Meanwhile, Senona got out of the car beside him. She was surprised to see Severo and to see him open the door for Allyce.
Enzo arrives at his side and follows his line of sight; his face becomes sombre. His tone is unclear when he says “Come on, come on”.
Senona turned around and saw that he was gone”. Enzo, wait for me!
At the table, Enzo started pointing at Severo.
“And where do you work?” Enzo was sure that Severo’s family background couldn’t be better than his own.
Severo smiled and said: “I’m just helping out in a small business”.
“You are a modest man. Someone who can afford that car can’t be helping in a small business.” Enzo looked at Severo.
“That car was borrowed from a friend”.
Hearing that, Enzo’s eyes showed a look of satisfaction. He had bought his own car. Severo’s car might be better than his, but it was only a loan.
He turned his head to look at Allyce, not expecting to see her eating indifferently. She didn’t seem to mind that Severo’s car was borrowed.
“I’m full. I’m a little tired from my first day, so I’d like to rest again.” Allyce put down her knife and fork and looked at Enzo and Senona, who were sitting across from her.
Seeing them ruined his appetite. Enzo had been constantly targeting Severo. He was just trying to prove that Severo was not as powerful as him and that he couldn’t even afford a car.
Luckily for Severo, he is mentally strong. Despite Enzo’s constant nagging, he didn’t lose his temper. Allyce, however, felt a little sad for no apparent reason.
If he had not married her, he would not have been insulted in this way.
Thinking that Allyce wanted to leave early because of the insult, Senona deliberately tried to get her to stay: “You work in PR and it will be common for you to go to social events after work. It’s better to get used to it soon.
“Public Relations? There are so many departments in the company, why did you choose Public Relations?” A look of disapproval crossed Enzo’s face. In PR, it was inevitable that he would have to go to parties where alcohol was consumed.
After thinking about it, he frowned and said, “Tomorrow I’ll move you to another flat. You’re still the second daughter of the Delahoz family. How can you go out to a social gathering?”
At those words, Senona’s expression changed. She just wanted these two to know that Allyce was not clean, so she even offered to join the public relations department, but somehow the opposite turned out to be true.
Allyce really did have a place in Enzo’s heart. The thought of that possibility made his hatred for Allyce grow even more.
Allyce glanced at Senona and caught the restlessness in her eyes. Allyce’s eyes lit up with a smirk and she said in a flirtatious tone, “Senona will teach me. Don’t worry, brother-in-law.
