Firework 7

My expression turned cold, and I was ready to walk away, but Jared grabbed my arm, saying, “They’re just joking, Olivia. I only love you.‘

“If you love me, then love me in a way I understand, because I don’t seem to matter to you anymore. If you love me, earn me!” I shouted, my voice filled with despair.

Hearing the commotion, George, Georgia, and others came out of the room. They exchanged quick glances before Georgia interjected, “Olivia, calm down.”

I didn’t look at them. Instead, I kept my gaze locked on Jared, my voice trembling with frustration when I continued, “When Georgia calls you every time she has an issue, you always rush to her side without hesitation. I didn’t understand why before, but now I do. Do you find it amusing to put on this act in front of me?”

Jared’s face hardened. He could not help explaining, “What nonsense are you talking about? I’ve told you before, I see her as my sister.”

Georgia’s face went pale after hearing it. She must be shocked that her position had been changed from a girlfriend to just a sister for Jared.

“Olivia, please don‘ t be so temperamental. Why don’t we all sit down and have some dinner first?” George chimed in, trying to defuse the situation.

I swept my gaze over them, a wave of disgust washing over me. I had been so passionate about Jared, and it seemed like it was all just a game to them.

“No, I can’t eat with you guys around anymore,” I declared.

Turning back to Jared, I pointed at him and said, “And as for you, don’t come looking for me again. I, Olivia Hatfield, have decided to….”

My voice faltered as Serena, my wolf, pleaded with me to reconsider. My emotions were in turmoil, but I decided to hold off on rejecting him for now. I continued, “The day you see me again will be the day I reject you for real.”

After that day, I buried myself in work. I threw myself into my duties at the academy, trying to drown out the pain with productivity.

But one morning, while taking attendance in the teachers‘ room, I noticed a familiar face.

“Thomas, what are you doing here?” I asked, surprised.

“It’s a long story,” he replied with a smile.

It turned out Thomas was asked to temporarily replace Mr. Maros, the martial arts teacher at Promise High, who had some business to attend to in another Pack.

Back in our academy days, Thomas had been Mr. Maros‘ favorite student and was known as the best warrior among us. But then, he decided to be the Alpha‘ s right–hand man in the Pack. However, it seemed that their relationship was still going well.

Then, I said teasingly, “So, are you working part–time here or part–time at the Alpha‘ s place?” Thomas could not help laughing and stated, “I’m a Beta who the Pack members can rely on. I can be the Alpha‘ s subordinate and help the Pack members with their work. This isn’t part–time; it’s my way of dedicating myself to my job as Beta, okay?”

I just nodded, smiling.

Thomas continued, “Besides, I like kids. Teaching them is fun, and it makes me enjoy my time here

even more.”

I replied, “Me too. I hope you really enjoy your time here, Sir.”

Thomas and I had always been on the same wavelength. Even when I mentioned wanting to move to the city center, he had the same idea.

Later, as Thomas returned to the office to sign out and prepare to leave, he noticed the dark circles under my eyes and couldn’t help but chuckle.

“I didn’t expect you to be such a hard worker. Why are you so motivated now?” he asked.
