Chapter 748 It Appears I’m Pregnant
Chapter 748 It Appears I’m Pregnant
Evelyn couldn’t remember how she fell asleep last night. She only remembered that after he said those words, she began silently shedding tears, covering herself with the blanket, afraid of being seen as she dozed off in a daze.
When she woke up the next morning, Evelyn’s head was exposed outside the blanket, and there was no sign of Huston on the nearby resting chair. She sat up from the bed, bent down to put on her shoes, and went to the bathroom for a quick wash.
After about ten minutes, just as Evelyn finished washing her face and was about to dry it, the door of the ward was pushed open from the outside. Along with the footsteps came the aroma of food.
Evelyn’s stomach grumbled in disobedience, even though she had already recovered from the fever today and her appetite was much better than yesterday. Seeing the Small Steamed Buns and Millet porridge in Huston’s hands, she couldn’t help but feel hungry.
Huston didn’t expect her to be up already. He squeezed into the small bathroom, instinctively placing his hand on her forehead, “Your temperature is just right. That’s good. You can have breakfast now.”
After saying that, he turned and walked out, laying out the breakfast items he had just brought from downstairs one by one.
Evelyn stood still, her forehead seemingly still retaining the warmth of his palm. His hand was dry and warm, a touch that she seemed familiar with. In the hazy moments of her sleep last night, she could feel that kind of pressure multiple times.
Could it be that he had not slept soundly last night and had been thinking about her high fever all night?
She was sure that she was not hallucinating, but she couldn’t remember how many times he had woken up.
Just as she was trying hard to recall, Huston had already shouted outside the bathroom, “Come out quickly after you’re done washing up. You won’t feel well if the food gets cold later.”
She bit her lip, shook her head, and said with mixed feelings, “I’m coming!”
She moved a small chair and sat opposite him. On the table were Millet Porridge, eggs, cucumbers, and the Small Steamed Buns, especially the Small Steamed Buns, which looked delicious and plump.
She grabbed one directly, stuffed it into her mouth, almost unable to close her mouth due to being full, and after chewing for a while, she managed to squeeze out a bit of space to speak, “It’s delicious.”
Seeing that Evelyn had a much better appetite and was enjoying her meal, Huston knew that her health condition now was not a major concern. He also picked up a Small Steamed Bun with his fork and put it in his mouth.
The moment the thin bun skin was bitten open, the rich broth inside burst into the mouth. Huston had specially arranged for it to be made and instructed the chef to use less salt and oil, making the taste milder than usual but still irresistibly delicious.
The four trays of the Small Steamed Buns were eaten in an instant. After taking a sip of the Millet Porridge, she couldn’t eat anymore. She had eaten too much and was a little bloated.
She lowered her head and touched her belly. It was obvious that it was bulging. She blurted out, “It appears I’m pregnant.”
In fact, it reminded her of when she first became pregnant with Evelyn. In the first one or two months, there was hardly any visible sign. It was only in the third month that her belly started to show prominently.
At first, she was not used to it. She always felt that her waist was thick and deformed. After a long time, she got used to it.
But now, looking at the curve caused by the food, she was a little speechless.
However, unintentional words can carry significant meaning when heard by the other party. As Huston watched her bow her head and touch her belly, he couldn’t help but imagine how she looked when she was pregnant with their son.
Surely it was a difficult and exhausting time for her, carrying the weight of both physical and emotional burdens.
Huston didn’t dare delve too deep into his thoughts. He feared that if he dwelt on them too much, a sour sensation would overpower his senses. Lately, his tears flowed easily, to the point
where even he found it distasteful.
Huston stood up and tidied up the remnants on the table, using this act as a cover for the vulnerability and emotions stirring inside him.
