In less than thirty minutes, the ambulance arrived and they carefully put Demelza on the stretcher and carried her into the ambulance. Nathan stood up to get into the ambulance but he was interrupted by a call from Charles. He knew it was important so he asked them to go ahead and he will join them later. The ambulance left without delay leaving Reynold in the middle of the road with cars honking.
He finally came back to reality and walked to his car. The second he got to his car, he stretched his hand out to the security personnel he had earlier given his key to. He collected his car keys, unlocked the car and got inside. He sat there for a while flashing back to what just happened which made him feel so terrible. He regretted not answering her when she called him. He felt that if he had responded that minute then she wouldn’t have carelessly crossed the road in desperation.
From frustration, he hit his staring continuously until he felt a little bit better. With heavy breaths, he dialed Charles’ number to know why he was calling.
“Good morning, sir.”
“Morning, Charles, why did you call?” Nathan asked him.
“I know this is not the right time but I saw the news. I’m really sorry about that, sir but the judge asked to see you this morning.” Charles said to him.
“Alright, I’ll see you in court.” Nathan responded and ended the call.
He started the car and its engine roared to life. His drive to the court wasn’t a good one but he had to go anyway. After about thirty minutes, he got there. He made his way to the judge’s office and he knocked twice before he entered.
“Good morning, your Lordship.,” Nathan greeted the judge.
“Morning, Nathan. Please have your seat.” The judge responded. “Your client’s father is free to go but,” the judge paused.
“You have to make sure he stays as far away from Hampton as he can. You know Hampton will not easily let this go. He doesn’t let go of things and I do not want to be in the middle of whatever this is between you and your best friend.” The judge warned him.
“Yes, sir, that will not happen and I promise I will ensure things are in order.” Nathan replied.
“Good, the only reason I agreed to this is because the man is innocent and Hampton has too many excesses that he cannot be allowed to win this one. That would be all” the judge concluded.
“Thank you very much, sir.” Nathan thanked him and stood up while he extended a handshake to the judge. After they shook hands, Nathan made his way out of the office feeling relieved. The only problem he had was Demelza who was in a bad condition.
“Hey, Charles.” Nathan called but immediately he caught sight of Charles.
Charles smiled and walked towards Nathan whose direction was facing the exit of the court.
“Everything’s settled. Thank you.” Nathan appreciated Charles as he stretched out his hand to Charles for a handshake.
“I better be on my way. I have a lot to do” Nathan said, retrieving his hand from the hand shake.
“Alright sir, have a nice day.” Charles responded with a smile.
Nathan turned and walked out of the courtroom leaving Charles to go about his daily activities.
As he got into his car, his phone rang and it was a call from the hospital notifying him that Demelza went into a coma. The news frightened him which made him call Ryan immediately.
He instructed Ryan to make sure Demelza is moved from the hospital to a better hospital than the one she was in. After his call with Ryan, he called his doctor immediately to make arrangements for Demelza to be transferred immediately.
He had no intentions to go to the hospital to see Demelza which was why he made the necessary arrangements for her to be transferred with him.
With that being arranged, Nathan went back home to relax. He wasn’t in the right state of mind to do any office work. He felt like all he needed was alcohol to lessen the guilt he felt about the occurrence of the day.

Few days passed with Demelza still in coma but the doctors informed her folks that she was responding to treatment and she would be out of it in no time which kept them optimistic. Nathan on the other hand kept drinking so much trying to get over the whole sadistic tale and his animal of a best friend.
“Thorpes, look” Harriet excitedly pointed for her husband to look.
“What?” Thorpes asked Harriet, confused.
“She moved a finger, didn’t you see?” Harriet asked, pointing at Demelza’s index finger in excitement feeling very hopeful.
“Look, she moved it again. Don’t tell me you missed that.” Harriet said with a smile and frown on her face at the same time.
“I saw it too. I think she is waking up.” Thorpes said to Harriet who smiled so wide and hugged her husband tight. Thorpes hugged her too, feeling so much relief.
“I think we should call the doctor,” Harriet suggested.
“Yes, we should. You stay and watch her while I get the doctor.” Thorpes told his wife. He hugged her and left the room to the doctor’s office in a haste.
In a few minutes, Thorpes and the doctor both arrived with a glimmer of hope.
The doctor checked Demelza’s vitals to be sure they are normal and also if she is stable. “Congratulations to the both of you, she will be awake any minute. Though don’t feel bad when she becomes unconscious again. She will be drifting in and out of consciousness until her body is strong enough to be stable and awake.” The doctor explained to them as he stood watching Demelza.
In about a minute, Demelza’s eyes slowly opened but her vision was very blur making it very difficult for her to know where she is and what is happening. She was also confused about why her head was banging so much.
She could see three figures but her visions are still blurred. “Where am I?” she asked.
“You are in the hospital, you just woke up from a very long sleep.” The doctor explained to her by checking her eyes.
“She is fine, just give her time and show her all the love she needs. That will stabilize her a lot.” The doctor instructed Harriet and Thorpes. “I’ll take my leave now.” The doctor added and excused them to have a family time.
Harriet and Thorpes both sat down beside her holding her hands. Demelza’s vision soon cleared and her heart was filled with joy immediately she recognized her father. Her grip on his hand tightened as tears streamed down her eyes. What she longed for the most was finally in her front. Thorpes hugged her in excitement as she cried. Harriet couldn’t help but watch feeling happy that the family is now whole and no more problems.
They finally broke free from the hug and Demelza’s brows furrowed as a thought popped in her head. “Did Nathan come?” she asked Harriet for an answer.
“Harriet could not answer the question as she felt bad that the answer would break Demelza’s heart.
“No, baby.” Thorpes answered the question. He preferred she dealt with the hurt earlier than lying to her. He had no regret spilling the truthful answer out because she knew they were never a match, their social status did not fit.
