Drawn to You: The Billionaire’s Second Wife

Chapter 11

Vanessa flicked her head on hearing her name being called out by Chloe. She had wanted to step out of the bed, but the doctor’s instructions hit her ears again.

She’s still under treatment and doesn’t need to overstress her waist for the day. The pains will increase and her waist bone will reposition itself again.

Her eyes caught the little girl who has been staring at her all this while. She smiled at her trying to make feeleelinaace.

“You saved me from the vehicle, ma’am Vanessa. Thank you so much, but you’re hurting the inner part of me.” Chloe uttered to her hearing.

She shook her head slightly. “You don’t need to talk about this now and at this state. We two are under medications and need tooeeneedtoot well first before anything else. So sweetheart, relax your nerves and let the medication work through your veins.” Nessa referred to the little girl.

She nodded slightly and returned the smile at last.

“Dad, what happened to us? Hope we’ll be better soon?” She caught her father’s attention.

Mr. Xavier moved towards her and sat down. He was so glad to see his daughter speak out again.

“You lose consciousness, and the doctor complains that your immune system is down and you are lacking blood. I’m trying my best to give you the best diet you need, yet you persist to stay awake at night and pull yourself down.” Xavier stated.

She only stared at him not trying to tell him the reason behind her staying awake at night. But it isn’t intentional, sgw can’t just sleep peacefully at night.

“What of ma’am Vanessa? What’s wrong with her?” She questioned him.

He glanced at Nessa and sighed. “While trying to save you from the vehicle, she hit her waist forcefully on the floor bringing dislocation. But she’s getting better now, the orthopedic surgeon has given her some treatment, and I believe he’ll be here again for her.”

“Now you’re gonna spend lots of money because of our treatments huh?” She widened her eyes in question.

He smiled. “Your life matters a lot more than money, besides I didn’t spend as much as you think.”

“No dad, I’m saying that because of your fiancee who persisted you shouldn’t employ a babysitter for me, complaining that it’s a waste of money,” Chloe commented.

He tapped her cheek. “It’s alright, Chloe. Just hang in there for me, we don’t need to talk about this here and now. Don’t even bear it in mind, because we’ll only sit on this matter after you’re better and back home.”

“I don’t just want to go back there again. I hate that lady you brought in. Look, dad, I’m not gonna be at peace in that home if ma’am Vanessa isn’t with me.” Chloe remarked annoyingly.

He swallowed deeply, this little girl is being serious about this matter.

“And if you aren’t comfortable in my house, I mean in your father’s house… then you will never feel comfortable staying elsewhere,” Xavier added and she heard him well.

Vanessa pretended to be deep asleep, she didn’t need them to get that she was grabbing their conversation.

**********

After the orthopedic surgeon visited Vanessa the second time, he gave her the treatments required before leaving for the hospital.

Xavier noticed how strong Chloe is and decided to go get them something to eat from home.

To make things easier and faster for him, he decided to contact Tracy who would prepare him the meal immediately so he would leave with it as soon as he arrived.

He dropped a kiss on peck’s cheek and left the room.

Vanessa was deep asleep already while Chloe kept glancing at the corners of the room. The only source of her happiness now is the presence of Vanessa in the ward.

Even though she isn’t staring at her or saying a word to her, the presence of Vanessa lying directly opposite her gives her a certain amount of joy.

Xavier went home and luckily, Tracy was almost done with the meal, he left to his room to meet Liana who seemed so worried with the look on her face.

“You’re welcome, darling. Words can’t express how haunted I’ve been all this while, since you left after Chloe we haven’t seen you again. Not even my calls you picked up.” Lilian queried him.

He got seated on the bed and bent his head low.

“Where’s Chloe, is she fine at all?” Lilian inquired.

He nodded, “He’s okay now. I just came to get a meal for her and Vanessa. They’ll soon be discharged but not today.”

Her face contorted. She had known such a thing would occur.

“Uhmmm! You mean Vanessa is with you in the hospital and admitted too?”

Xavier lifted his face staring at her. He wondered what she was up to by asking such a disgusting question.

“I said it clearly to your hearing that Chloe and Vanessa are admitted to the hospital. You expect me to leave them, or rather disregard Vanessa who saved my child from death? ”

She heaved a big sigh. “I never meant to get you upset, but you know, I don’t love that lady and don’t feel like seeing you with her.”

“So now what are you trying to say? Lilian talks to me, what do you expect me to do? Look off Vanessa while she’s in that state huh?” Xavier got annoyed.

Lilian folded her arms while pacing around the room. “You never knew that I caught you. Yes, Xavier, I saw you helping her into the car and you held her waist. I gave you my first call at the moment but you ignored it, doesn’t she have a hand that you can hold? Must it be her waist?”

“You shut your sticky mouth. How dare you screech at me that way Lilian? You’re trying to tell me that I’m not supposed to help a woman that had a dislocation on her waist because of my daughter? Mind the way you throw your words at me.” Xavier scolded her out of anger.

He moved towards the table beside his bed and took his car key.

“I’m leaving back to the hospital so they will have their meal, take good care of yourself until I’m back.” Xavier declared to her hearing.

She obstructed his way. “I’m going with you to the hospital.”

“What for? Did I ever tell you that I can’t take care of them? Lilian, get your feet out of my way now.” His hoarse voice echoed in her hearing.

She shivered and shifted. “Xavier, between two things, one will surely take place if I ever set my eyes on that lady again. I don’t ever want to see her here, and I don’t want you to be with her for any reason.”

“I am Xavier Brown. No one questions my order. No one steps on my foot and goes Scot-free. I think I’ve given you my love and care more than you deserve, and that’s why you are going insane. Don’t let me roast you hell, that I love and desire for you doesn’t mean that you will give me conditions because of that.” He stated and dashed out of the room angrily.

He stepped down the stairs to get the meal already packaged and kept it on the dining table.

Tracy rushed towards him, handing it over to him.

“Dad, how’s Chloe fairing? Was she hit by a vehicle?” Ben asked him.

He nodded. “Not at all, Vanessa saved her but had a waist dislocation.”

“Aww! I think she deserves more than that. At least that will be a lesson for her to learn, with that I don’t think she will be present here again as a babysitter.” Tracy stated in a mocking tone.

That statement choked Xavier’s heart, he wondered if what she said might happen. But he won’t let it, if Vanessa isn’t here, then Chloe might not survive it.

He is damn ready to do everything just to make sure Vanessa is employed as Chloe’s babysitter.

“I told you of a lady on the sick bed, and all you could utter is that she deserves it. You know that shows how inhuman the two of you are?” He referred to the two of them.

They glanced at each other and smiled.

“I overheard Lilian yelling at you because of that lady. Yes, she did that because she doesn’t love that lady.”

His face chiseled. “Ben, you dared refer to her by her name?”

“Uh-huh! Isn’t she Lilian by name? Well, she thinks we’ve welcomed her here, and that’s why she has the guts to order you not to employ the so-called Vanessa. Anyways, I just want you to extend this message to her…. ”

She coughed slightly and gasped.

“Let her be aware that she isn’t welcomed by us, and you know what dad? It’s time for you to choose between two options, which is to kick them out and we’ll stay with you alone, or you kick us out and stay with them alone…. .”

Ben smiled. “You got it right Tracy. This building can never accommodate us. Never.”

Xavier couldn’t get what was going on any longer, he found his lips stretching an annoying smile.

“The three of you must be insane.” That was all he uttered and left the building to his car.

The two stood motionless without saying a word, not until Lilian climbed down to the dining where they stood.

They felt like slumping when their eyes noticed her presence in their midst.
