Chapter 6 The Wedding is Cancelled
Chapter 6 The Wedding is Cancelled
Evie raised her eyebrows as she looked at me, her ten fingers tapping continuously. I naturally
understood what she meant.
"You're right. I did have sex with a man, but that man is not Vaughn."
When I mentioned Vaughn, I only felt sick.
I was really blind to find such a disgusting man.
"What? You had sex with another man... What the hell is going on?"
Evie stared at me with wide eyes. Clearly, she was shocked by my words.
Seeing her shocked expression, I told Evie about what happened last night when I saw Vaughn
sleeping with Laney.
"What? Vaughn really did such a thing? What a scumbag!"
Hearing my explanation, Evie was also full of anger and started to curse Vaughn.
"By the way, what about the wedding? Today is your wedding day."
As if she had thought of something, Evie looked at me with an anxious expression.
"The wedding is cancelled."
When I said these four words, I could still feel how painful my heart was.
I've been looking forward to this wedding for many years. I'd arranged every detail of the wedding
carefully and gave all of my attention to it, but now it's all gone.
"Evie, I'm tired. I want to rest."
Although I felt sick at the thought of Vaughn, he was still a man whom I had been in love for seven
years after all. It was a lie to say that I was not heartbroken.
"Now I just want to have a good sleep and forget about him. When I wake up, I'll pretend that I have
never known him."
Evie also knew that I was upset, so she didn't say anything more and went out.
I didn't know how long I slept. When I woke up, I heard some noise in the living room. It sounded like
Vaughn's voice.
I heard that Evie seemed to be arguing with Vaughn.
I opened the bedroom door and saw Vaughn sitting on the sofa in the living room, while Evie's face was
full of anger.
"Hollie."
Seeing me, Vaughn opened his mouth in a hurry.
"Mr Jarvis, what are you doing here? You are not welcome here!"
I suppressed my urge to ask him why he betrayed me and pretended to be cold.
"Hollie, what happened last night..."
Vaughn stood up and walked over to me with guilt in his eyes.
"What, are you going to describe how you had sex with my best friend last night in front of my friend?"
There was sarcasm in my tone, and the anger in my heart had already surged up.
After all, I had loved him deeply. Thinking of his deception and betrayal, my heart ached inexplicably.
"Hollie. I know what happened last night was my fault, but Laney and I really love each other. I..."
Vaughn opened his mouth as if he wanted to continue, but I interrupted him, "Enough! Vaughn, we're
over. You don't have to explain anything to me. Didn't you say that I forced you to get married? I'll tell
you now, you're free!"
It was him who cheated on me and slept with my best friend. They even had a child together. Now he
was telling me that they loved each other. What an irony!
If the two of them truly loved each other, what did he take me for the past seven years?
