Chapter 5 Went Away
The delivery guys stood dumbfounded, nearly dropping the containers.
Chloe calmly handed them some cash.
“Just tell the whole world about it. Use an amplifier,” She added.
Shawn Heavy Industries belonged to Michael. It was separate from the Shawn family business.

Chloe had no idea how much money the company could earn for Michael, but she knew it was a venture he founded with Lucy and their friends.
And it was an unbreakable bond between Lucy and him.
In the past, just mentioning the company made her heart ache. But now, she only felt angry when it was brought up.
After everything was done, Chloe began packing her belongings.
With her family’s downfall, she had brought very little with her. One box of clothes and one box of gadgets were all she had to take with her.
In less than thirty minutes, she left the house with her suitcase.

Following that, she headed to Glory Villa.

When she reached her friend’s place, she found that the door was open. And as soon as Chloe stepped inside, she was pressed against the wall.
Dressed in pajamas, Candy Parker, leaned against the wall, squinting at her.
“You have no place to go now? Don’t worry! I got your back!”
At her words, Chloe pushed her away helplessly.
If she wasn’t that desperate, she wouldn’t want to be there.
A few minutes later, Candy handed her a cup of coffee, its warmth heating up Chloe’s cold little heart a bit.
“Thanks.”
“You’re welcome,” Candy sighed, “You tied the knot to clear your debts and settle scores. You should’ve left him ages ago. I warned you before, but you were head over heels…”
“Candy, you knew it a long time ago, didn’t you?” Chloe looked over to Candy, who was a bit panicked, and added, “You knew he’d choose Lucy over me.”
Candy humphed.
“She’s back?”

“Yeah, she’s now some hotshot engineer at Paramount Airlines.” Chloe’s head drooped, her long lashes veiling her fatigue.
The air turned dense.
After a beat, Candy spoke up again, “Just dump Michael and quit your job. I’ll be your breadwinner.”
Chloe snickered with tears in her eyes. “You think I’m just gonna roll over?”
“But didn’t Michael already kick you out?”
That was why Chloe avoided Candy before. She always spoke her mind without caring about Chloe’s feelings.
“I want a divorce because I’m done with him.”
Chloe spat it out, and Candy just chuckled.
“Well, well, look who’s finally got some backbone. So, what’s the plan? You want Lucy or Michael dead? Give me a heads–up, and I’ll make it happen.”
Chloe was speechless.
“Who’d dare lay a finger on Michael?”
“Exactly! You still haven’t gotten over him, so Lucy’s gotta go!”
“Stop joking, Candy. You must have another way out.”

“I do, if you’re willing to come back.”
Those words made Chloe’s heart flutter.
She still remembered that summer after high school.

Back then, she scored her big payday of 500 thousand dollars on the dark web. With that cash, she built her own team where age didn’t matter, but talent did.
Since then, she became a well–known hacker under the pseudonym of Jioleek.
Throughout college, her team thrived. Every month, orders poured in, and they earned tons of cash.
Chloe could’ve built her own empire if things went smoothly.
But then her mom got sick and she was drowning in debt. The debt almost dragged her team down into the mess.
In the end, she had no choice but to leave it all behind.
After Chloe got married, Candy reached out to her, wanting her to take up leading the team. Yet, all Chloe could see was Michael
at that time.
She had long forgotten about the ambition she had back when she was still the leader of the hacking team.
Three years later, Chloe ended up losing what she wanted.

Candy went to her bedroom and fetched her laptop. Then she typed the keyboard non–stop.
A few seconds later, she turned the screen toward Chloc.
“Still recognize the firewall you know inside out? It’s been giving
us a headache recently. We’ve failed the mission twice. If it doesn’t work out this time, our reputation will take a hit. Aren’t you gonna do something about it?”
